Hey Doc, suggestion ; the One-step (Not danced any more ) as a couple to Slow Foxtrot:@7:47 does not the Torsional Rotation straighten the swing leg foot by rotation of the hip on the swinging leg.
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 3 жыл бұрын
Hey John. I am not sure if the particular step you are talking about, but in general you need to look at the full context of at least 3 sequential movements to determine the final result. Torsional rotation can lead to the foot facing straight or turned out depending on the previous setup

Now that I’ve learned how to walk properly I feel more confident. I walk 5-6 blocks to my job. Can you demonstrate how to walk at a quick pace properly?

New subscriber. Dr, I rolled my right ankle fell down & fractured my left shoulder. I look down when I walk all the time now. I notice the tip of my right foot will drag or hit the ground first vs heel to toe. I don’t know why. I make a conscious effort to walk heel to toe. I’m afraid to walk without looking down. I never want to fall again. I’m going to try your stride videos but only on carpeting. I see a podiatrist Nov 16th. Long way off. The over pronating will be addressed but not my stride. Thank you for making these helpful videos. 60 fit female.

If we walk correctly we do core-work auto on 💕 omg do i have to educate everybody with pain. Where are the medical professionals helping !!!!
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 3 ай бұрын
Yes, we are working the core. Done at a more intense level, you always see the runners have great abs because the core is generating all the movement along with the hips. The problem is reflected by the old saying, if your a hammer, every problem looks like a nail. Doctors are trained in lecture halls, not a gym or dance floor, so they are not experts in movement. If it can't be diagnosed while sitting on an exam room table, it doesn't exist.

Fascinating, thank you very much Dr. Martin. What do you recommend for a person with Multiple Sclerosis? It's difficult to get a proper walk! Thank you.
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. My recommendation would be to see a physical therapist who can work with you individually to maximize your function. It isn't possible to make a general recommendation since the effects of the condition vary so much. Good luck.

If we walk faster the core turn faster too?
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 7 ай бұрын
Yes, exactly. The walking speed is going to be proportional to the speed of rotation.

Sir everything is good at posture but how to maintain the curvature of spine while sitting... When I try to do it... I just have to curve my lumber spines to much to much otherwise my spine don't have that curve... I new maintaining my posture
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 2 жыл бұрын
You can try this video. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iM5dq9hll5-bZn0.html. The psoas muscle is what should be maintaining the lumbar lordosis while sitting. This means one you your hips is actively flexing as you sit. That flexion is pulling the spine forward into the proper lordosis. This is different than sitting with an anterior pelvic tilt, which is a common postural problem some people have.

What do you think about forefoot walking? I just cant walk correctly with heel first i have big pain after 1 or 2 hours that walking. And i feel like im 0 stability and little push can sway me. Sorry for my English it's not my native.
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 3 жыл бұрын
This video will give you all my thoughts on forefoot walking. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/et11jZme16-xcps.html. I would suggest practicing all of the technique and exercises I give on normal walking technique if you haven't done that. There is probably something you are doing incorrectly that needs to get fixed.

Dont agree with your first uip re looking forward I was doing that a fee weeks ago and tripped over a branch on the footpath causing a serious fall The rule is ok of you know the route is even but it's not always the case can be faced by potholes and objects like caused my fall Sgill recovering

@ToddMartinMD Жыл бұрын
Can we agree that when you are walking inside a building or on a paved sidewalk or other non-hazardous environment that keeping your head and neck vertical and aligned and your eyes looking in front of you in the direction where you are going is the correct way to walk? If so, we are in agreement. If you are suggesting that normal walking involves looking at the ground, I would strongly disagree. Situational looking down is not the point.

What I really want to know is just how many videos this man can churn out basically saying the same thing?
@ToddMartinMD
@ToddMartinMD 3 жыл бұрын
Who knows? But, as any teacher knows, you often have to repeat yourself very many times and in slightly different ways to help the most people capture what you are saying. More videos also helps me reach more people. That is the ultimate goal.

KZfaq may never put a video of mine in front of them if I don't create new videos and improve the filming technique, audio, and music. The fact that my best performing video (in views per day) was shot just 4 months ago is an indication of that. It has more views in 3 months than the previous video of the same name {top 10 tips) got in two and half years. My views per month have more than quintupled in the last 6 months because of new content, even saying the same thing in different ways. So I will stick with it.
