I once did a listening where it stated names of 9 artists as examples for different subtopics. And then a question came up where i had to connect subtopics to those names. So I believe, sometimes names and years can be important, so at least note the initials like if it says Van Gogh, Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, you can note that as "VG, M, LDV" so that you don't get those mixed up when the question comes up.

@tomaty3437
@tomaty3437 3 жыл бұрын
@@tugcesabanci8681 For the reading section, make sure you have enough time to review your answers. I typically leave about 15-20min for review/checking For listening, jot down the important information in a coherent way so that you don't get confused when using them to answer the questions. I used to scribble everywhere so my notes didn't help me lol For Speaking, use the speaking templates because your score won't get deducted. Also try to speak continuously, but avoid repetition. For Writing, you should refrain from using templates. Use transition words, and pay attention to the structure.

I would suggest another way for taking notes for everyone for discussion: make a T chart and on one side write i.e. student and on other side advisor ( discussion between student and advisor). for lecture: make a T chart and on one side write i.e. major and on other side minor (this is taking major and minor detail of the lecture).

Hi, I am gonna take the TOEFL exam in 2 weeks. I feel so nervous cuz I have a B2 level and I heard many experiences that it is better when you have advanced knowledge in English. I just need 80 as my total score. Do you think that I can reach that with a lot of practice?

11:55 I've felt that they do sometimes ask about details and if you've missed that word in the lecture or what it was there for, it might cost you a question. I try to note every new detail mentioned and connect it to the ongoing discussion. Simultaneously taking notes leads to this mistake, so I've been trying to make notes more concise.

When you are taking the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, headsets or earphones aren't allowed. You can check out equipment and environment requirements here - www.ets.org/s/cv/toefl/at-home/equipment/ Hope this helps!

Are you allowed to erase notes in between listening sections in home exams?
@TSTPrep
@TSTPrep 3 жыл бұрын
Hi koreanwannab ow and yes, you are allowed to erase your notes through the test. That’s why it’s important to have an erasable marker. You cannot have multiple whiteboards or multiple transparency sheets, but you can reuse them as many times as you need during the test.

@TSTPrep
@TSTPrep Жыл бұрын
It depends on whether or not you think it will be important. However, I usually do it out of habit. In general, on the TOEFL, they ask more about ideas than actual specific dates, so they probably will not ask you to recall an exact number.

@TSTPrep
@TSTPrep 2 жыл бұрын
When you take the TOEFL iBT in a test center, you get a pencil and a piece of scrap paper. You can´t take notes on your screen. If you are taking the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, you should use a small desktop whiteboard ( or a sheet of paper inside a transparent protector,) with an erasable marker, no pencil or pen.

Hi there and thank you for commenting. Students at lower levels of proficiency should work on the basics of English first. If you don't understand academic passages, you probably should not take the test now. Instead, you should invest your time and money in improving your English level first before moving ahead with the TOEFL.

no notetaking for listening, fine, but in speaking, and writing, no notetaking? well, that's not hard to imagine what will happen.

I am not sure I understand your question. Could you clarify what you mean by 'no notetaking'? Just to let you know, you can take notes whenever you like. The only exception is at the beginning of a section when they are reading directions.
@user-ff1gp3hr2x
@user-ff1gp3hr2x 28 күн бұрын
@@TSTPrep I am so sorry, I might have used the inappropriate phrases causing misunderstanding. what I mean is " without notetaking". I mean test takers have to take notes if they want to get a high score in speaking and writing section given these two sections' differences from listening section. In listening section, well, students can get a high score without taking notes while this might not work in writing and speaking because our memory is temporary and inaccurate, leading to a potential information omission, which is fatal for output in speaking and writing section.
