Hi beautifuls. Welcome back to my channel.
I really never have thought in my whole entire life that I would create a video like this. But life happened and here I am, in front of the whole world to tell my story. This was probably one of the hardest videos I’ve made so far, trimming a whole hour of emotional raw footage. Additionally, it’s the hardest thing I’ve had to say to my parents in my whole life. So here I am, vulnerable, in the hopes that I can use whatever small platform I have to share my story. I am driven to use social media as a platform to express my voice in the hopes of inspiring many others who are going through the same thing as I am/was.
It is my desire that this video will provide tremendous positive impacts to whoever shoes it’ll fit. If you have any questions/comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out through my social media channels or comment down below.

I'm in a similar position now. I'm learning to accept myself for who I am before I come out to my family. I don't know when or if I ever will come out, but this gave me a little hope that I will someday.

John, thank you sharing your successful journey. Self acceptance and acceptance from others is easier when we can address their points. Some religious people quote, Leviticus 20:13, "If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." The problem for those supporting the anti-gay verse is that NO ONE follows MOST verses in Leviticus. People are not being put to death for cursing their mother and father in verse 9, nor for adultery in verse 10. They are not performing animal sacrifices per chapters 1-9, nor are they breaking dishes when someone has a venereal disease per chapter 15. When we read the new testament gospels we find that those who upheld Mosaic law were the ones out to harm and kill the one called Jesus. He healed on the sabbath, his disciples weren’t fasting and he didn’t follow Leviticus 20:10 where those caught in adultery are to be killed. He instead said to the scribes and Pharisees, “He who is without sin, let him throw the first stone.” Jesus introduced new teachings to replace the old. John 13:34 states, “A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” Rod McKuen would say words similar to the following at the end of every act. "It does not matter who you love or how you love, but that you love. The good in man is God made manifest and loving is the contribution to that good and to that only God. For in the end the act of loving anyone is the act of loving God." Being anti-gay, breaking dishes for venereal disease along with animal or human sacrifice to appease God should all be viewed as primitive beliefs.

The journey towards acceptance and equality has come a long way but it definitely has a lot more work to do. We keep on striving and conquering the world with the hope that one day equality is no longer defined as a fight for once existence and acceptance but rather it shall be a part of the past.

Just discovered your channel through this video. Your video hits the balance of being insightful without being abstract, emotional without being sentimental and personal without TMI. Honest emotions can be overwhelming at the most unexpected of times, even when we think we've already dealt with them! Thank you for your personal story that can give wise advice and encouragement to anyone along the journey of coming out. I'm glad that you have people who love and support you through this journey - they are gifts. You are loved and worthy of being loved. Regarding your parents, their journey is just beginning. And what you said about being patient with yourself, also applies to them. They probably knew but now that the knowledge is openly before them, they have to come to terms with it. While it will take time, I want to pass along the example of an acquaintance of mine, Danny Cortez. He calls himself a "recovering persecutor" as he had been a Southern Baptist pastor who also has a gay son. Here's a link to his description of his own journey: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e9x7Y6-AyqnagXU.html. I hope it will encourage you to hope that all is not lost in the relationship with your parents. You have a strong story and are a beautiful soul. All the best!

Major respect for understanding that your family is going through their own end of things, I often see people devolve and become self absorbed in the situation, and that’s a sad thing to see. It may be challenging for everyone involved, but to be understood by family, one must understand them as well. Together you can get through, and hopefully together you will stand. Best wishes

You are such a delicate, admirable and so loving human. Revealing your character to the "norm's' (if I may put it that way) for me is I think not necessary anymore because you are the kind of a person who spells and excuses out LOVE. But of course you had to "come out", (not categorically for me because everyone is equally created by our CREATOR) specifically for your parents acceptance. Nothing has changed with the people who knows you, I'm very certain you parents will embrace the more of who you are now. Stay safe and first and foremost, be happy.

Your story made my heart sing, and also brought tears to my eyes. Like you I was raised in an ultra conservative religious family, which if you are gay and you were not raised in that environment is another whole level of trauma to work through and heal from, and often much harder than just being gay. And in my case on top of this to be gay and transgender. Long story short I emerged, my faith intact, a fully whole human being. And while I am out to my friends as well as at work I never saw the need to be out to my parents. I my brother who also was gay (he is now deceased,) came out to my parents who never accepted that he is gay and it did not magically reunite them. I will say, and you mentioned it, that forgiveness and loving those who persecute you are key to all healing and becoming whole. Thank you again for sharing your story.

Well let me say thank you for sharing thank you for allowing us to be a part of you thank you for inviting us into your life I hope this is not the last time we hear from you or an update from you the number one tool that you have in your toolbox as I would say is love love your parents love your siblings love them through the heart love them through the pain love them through the difficulties that they have in getting through the process of things in their lives that they have not yet began to discover. You are a beautiful wonderfully made man that God created and he would never takes back his gifts that he gives his children grow in mature in things always believe in God he loves you it is men who says that God doesn't love you God never said that you can still be a Conservative Christian you can still be I know in the Philippines a lot of them are Catholics or Catholicism that you can still believe in God and believe that he does exist in that he does love you.

I am going through the same stage as you right now. I moved out of my country to Canada to feel free with myself and to express myself in the way I want without any restrictions and oppression. I came out to my mom a couple of months ago and it was a hell on the earth. I have never expected to embrace me, but I only wanted the smallest acceptance I deserve. Sadly my mom never accepted who I am, every time I call her, I have to face tones of insults, prejudice and harsh, painful words. It's been tough for me lately, Im facing a lot of breakdowns and mental crisis. I stopped eating, wasn't leaving my bed and started isolating from the world. I feel weak and vulnerable. I'm lost don't know what to feel anymore, I don't know who I am. I know I have to be strong, otherwise I will lose the internal fight, I will collapse and fall into the darkness. Such videos like yours give me courage and hope, I have no other words to say but Thank You.

It's a hard journey... I never had a conversation with my religious family. I just moved as far away as I could and made my life with friends who became my family. I don't regret that. We were not best friends and telling them would not have made us best friends, so I just moved out of their lives and lived mine. Another option for those in the same situation.

Hugs. Welcome to the Gay Club. Protecting your parents, who unfortunately have aligned themselves with a charismatic religious group, is not your responsibility. Your parents must choose family versus 'religious' appearances - their answer should be obvious - but if they don't choose you, it's their cross to bear. Tough Love - let your parents go. Love is love - you are on the righteous path. Celebrate yourself, and create a family of friends who also celebrate and support you!

And I am happy for you to be who you are because whoever told her everybody this whole time that makes it kind of videos that God loves you for who you are, and it doesn’t matter very straight, homosexual or gay why shouldn’t matter to any of us? As long as we make judgments based on good and also the judge was selling, make on, what we do is either another bad or for the good as long as we make the right judgments, but it was for the wrong judgments they made a bad judgment call on them. As far as your parents goes, I am sure that they will come around sometime in the future they probably will , but they don’t that’s their loss not yours but you should know as long as you have someone to love for they give that love back as long as you get that love, then nobody can take that away that is important issue of that significant other, as long as you keep on the path that God has given to you And I have a believe that God is God in you all the time always be in prayer and meditation and focus on the word of God Jesus, and read the testimony and focus on spirit and also read the Bible and do it it says, and you know that God is there for you and he is guiding you is giving you guidance he is your forever parent And he does not really give a care if you are gay or straight or homosexual to whatever you are safe then when I say it makes no difference if you’re a Filipino or not, God will not care of white race that you are or if you’re a gay, homosexual or not Answer me this is very much important just pray and meditate on the word of God Jesus, and read his testimony and focus on his word

Coming out should not be sensationalized. In fact, it’s not anyone’s obligation or burden to reveal his or her sexual preference at some point. Everyone has the right to live his or her life the way it is. Sometimes it’s just us who complicates the “matter”. For all you know your parents or those people around you already know you’ve gay a loooong time ago and they care less. Stop the drama!!!!

If you are rejected for being gay, that is conditional love. That is not love. It is attempts to control by withdrawing love. That is not love, it is control and manipulation. Act accordingly when someone withdraws their love. Walk away, and if they come back with real love, then it is genuine love. If not, they never loved you to begin with. You were only seen as extension of themselves. That is called narcissism. Move on and create a family of choice that loves you for you. This is true no matter the cause of the rejection.

If you have the idea that you look effeminate, you are very much wrong. You look as “male” as any other guy on the street, and actually very handsome with your beard and that smile. Don’t let anyone make you think you don’t, just because you happen to be gay.

If I could speak I had a chance to speak to your parents I'm 60 years old so I can speak from the standpoint of a parent and I'm sure my Bible is the same as your Bible in the Philippines or in Australia Bible says that God so loved the world that he gave himself he gave himself he robbed himself in flesh and took on the parents of a man he gave himself and home on a cross for our redemption he loved us and he loves you Mom Dad love your son love him as much as you can respect his decision and his choice of life doesn't mean that you choose his lifestyle that you respect his lifestyle and that he respects your lifestyle although he doesn't choose your lifestyle he respects it be there for him helping understanding understand things that he went through as a a 12-year-old boy or a 14-year-old as to why he didn't see girls in the way that he should have been that he saw the boys the way that he did Mom Dad love them love him he's the only may not be the only child that you have but he himself is the only one that there is appreciate him.

People have a right to be homophobic. Especially for religious reasons. However no one has the right to harrass threaten or harm someone because of it.

Me too. Closeted gay turning 33 this year from the Philippines. I'm so behind life compared to my peers due to social conditioning that gays equate to cursed beings of the earth. I'm currently on the process of getting rid of this rubbish concepts and reclaiming my life back piece by piece. It's up to us now how to define being gay! Seeing happy successful gays abroad with kids inspired me to go on and build that reality for me. stay strong brothers and sisters of the LGBTQ community. We matter and we deserve life. 🏳‍🌈
