Same lol i put them kn every morning as im trying to wake up or even if i fall back asleep. Might end up watching the same one in sections a cpl different times too. But its like every one is just hangin out its not like a interview where he is trying to showcase a famous person or somthin. I even like the old fold up lawn chair setup better. Makes us feel like we are all at the shop or the track hangin out drinkin beers or somthin. Cant wait for the jh diesel and the sxs blog session!

For me, it was Cleetus. I had seen Roadkill talk about Drag Week a little bit, but they never really covered it very well. Then I started watching Cleetus' videos and I finally understood, and got hooked. He was so good at telling the story and making it compelling that I fell in love with the drag and drive events.
@leftyeh6495
@leftyeh6495 Жыл бұрын
Same here. I think Cleetus hit everything so right being an average guy, with average guy problems, in what was a totaled car they rebuilt and ran with a bent frame. The biggest key was daily updates, lots of content that wasn't dictated by the camera work or audio. Made you feel like you were hanging out with them. Roadkill has a professional editing staff and producer that will cut stuff just because they don't like the camera angle, the lighting, or the audio. They end up cutting out the soul during the edit.
@zachdunford6808
@zachdunford6808 Жыл бұрын
I firmly believe that Cleetus & crew are who turned so many eyes on to what makes these event's special. During the week of drag and drive events I basically accomplish nothing other than watching the live feds and watch several racers tell their stories via their video series. You're onto something big here Cooper, keep this up.

@@AB-80X Just went back and checked, looks like his first was in 2019. Several factors have contributed obviously; I just think he's a big part of where it's at today, regarding the publicity.
@AB-80X
@AB-80X Жыл бұрын
@@zachdunford6808 Of course he is. I will say that the first one he did in 2019 was for 1320 as far as I remember. He did kind of a mix between shooting it and running it. Nobody knew him back then. I just think it's giving him way too much credit for being the most important. I ihink Motor Trend, David Freiburger, Mike Finnegan, Roadkill and many other characters such as Steve Morris, Tom Bailey, Alex Taylor and many others were those responsible for it blowing up. Garrett didn't really make a splash with drag week participation until 2021. An interesting thing about Garrett's participation in 2021 was that they were actually not that well accepted in the group of racers. It has not been until him and the guys started to go fast that people paid attention in the D&D community. If you want to really put a lot of credit where credit's due, put it on Mullet and it's Morris engine. 2022 was the year that really put McFarland Racing on the map for D&D, and a lot of that can be contributed to the Mullet success.

I think maybe set the tables in a V so you can easily look at the camera and each other. It's got to be nice having a place to rest your hands and set your drinks. I like seeing your faces making expressions to each other as you chat. If you're going to push to audio only someday I guess it won't make any difference. You can always tweak things as you go till you get it easy for you and the audience likes it as well 👍

Absolutely nailed it. It’s not just the racing, its the road trip involving the fans. A lot of sporting events the fans are detached or can only watch. These you must feel part of it, you are along with the cars and teams. That must be an awesome feeling. Long may they run. Great work Coop 😎👍

I went to Hot Rod Drag Week when it stopped at my home track, Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove WI back in 2017. I had always heard about it, It was awesome, It was thee event of the year for long time locals to congregate at and all that but I was glued to the computer for updates once Cleetus started doing vlogs from Rocky Mountain Race Week. You just feel like your part of the action, the struggles, even the little victories like getting the part you need. If you cant be part of it, at least you feel like you are. The Vlogs are really the important part because you become invested in who your following no matter how they do. The Vlogs cover the sport in a way that conventional podium interviews and quick pit lane interviews cant. Once you're invested in someones personality, the time slips and overall results become almost irrelevant. I believe the its a big part of the reason why drag and drives have become so popular. The story, the journey is so compelling that you want to be a part of it. And drag and drives seem more attainable to do as a destination experience . A thing to plan for year to year.

I'm glad to see that Tom talked about how it doesn't matter what you bring or how how fast you go you can come participate and enjoy the experience. This has been one thing that's kinda bothered me lately because it could effect peoples want to get into the sport. %90 percent of the majority of the content shown by channels of these races are cars that run single digit times. I feel like it can discourage Younger generations or people who can't afford crazy builds get a perception that they need to have what they see to participate. I wish there could be some focus on the other range of vehicles that participate that the average watcher can relate to and be more motivated by. This is just my opinion.

It's kind of odd how serious he is until about 27:00 in, he then laughs well ONCE describing overfilling his motor with Oil. It's a great interview but his range of emotion needs to be measured with a Micrometer. You can tell Tom is a very nice person but he just rarely shows any emotion and even when he finds something funny or interesting he just maintains a level cool. Great interview to get Coop to make him smile and laugh a bunch of times later in the interview and Tom let his guard down. Once again, Cooper, if you're reading this, keep this up!
