In this episode of "Barn Find Hunter," Tom steps outside his comfort zone and explores the world of some highly sought after JDM icons. Tom is used to traditional hot rods, taking low power motors and adding parts. When Tom heard about how much power you can get from a JDM car just by altering its computer, he was intrigued. Follow along as Tom has his mind blown by a group of JDM greats.

I love his attitude here. ‘I’m not into what you’re into but I can respect your passion and your creativity.’ Car culture and really society in general needs more positivity like this, well done.

It's always kinda funny to me that so many people can't seem to just let people enjoy what they want to enjoy. I don't have to like the same things to appreciate someone else's passion, and if one's gonna be honest about it, that variety and specialty into their own respective fields generates a larger base of expertise that could well benefit each other's projects.

I wish the car community was like this, sadly it isn't. A lot of times cars are also a extension of our worst traits in people's personalities. Know a bully? guess what kind of a car/truck they drive. Yep, play stereotypes. Know someone who is compensating or insecure? yep. When I ride my motorcycle, I wave hi to every rider. But you have (insert motorcycle snob) that won't. It is what it is. Car culture, motorcycle culture.

Jennifer, it's so nice to see a tight knit family like yours. When I lived in Florida in 1980-81, it seemed like all Latin families were like yours. And I'm sure both you & your husband made sure to instill in your sons that it's their job to protect & care for Jasmine.

I’m a fan of the classics, but I feel like this is the modern day equivalent of what kids were doing back in the 50’s/60’s/70’s just with a different car. Love it!

Yup! These cars are also about as old now as the ‘32 Ford was in the 60s that kids were hot rodding. So it’s ripe time for people to be nostalgic for their 90s childhood.

Fabulous show, it is so great to see an old fart like you break away from the things you know and learn about talk about this new generation. Like you I was raised in the 60s and 70s and my ideas of a hot rod are totally different than these young kids. But I love it I love learning about it I love seeing them and I appreciate the fact that you actually showed the cars and just didn’t do self promotion. Please do more of these with this younger generation. The other thing I’d really love to see you dive into is rat rods. They intrigue me I know nothing about them but I love seeing them and I would love to learn more about them and I would love to see you dig into that along with these new young people cars

Way to change things up Tom The car finds you is true. I bought a 1976 2dr Bonneville from a coworker friend. 400 2bbl duel exhaust. 6 months later a 1975 Granville convertible pulled in a parking lot. My roommate gave the owners our # and said we would buy it when they were ready. Not long after they called and I have owned it for 29 years.

When I worked at a VW Dealer a dad with his daughter came on the lot wanting to buy a car for the daughter to use at college. She kept going back to a Golf Cabriolet and her dad kept telling her It was a manual transmission and she didn't know how to drive a manual, but she didn't like any of the other cars. The dad kept wanting her to pick a car from our lot. Dad was getting tired and frustrated because they had been going to many car dealers and nothing had seemed to please the daughter. Having had a son who wanted to learn how to drive a manual, I offered my teaching experience to them. I said, "If I can teach her how to drive a manual transmission will you buy this car?" Dad was so convinced she could never learn how to drive a stick shift, he just laughed and said you can try. You should have seen her dad's face when we pulled back into the dealership with the daughter at the wheel....It was priceless. Yes the dad bought the Cabriolet for his daughter.

My mom had a early 90's Prelude. That car was during the era where Honda was pioneering steering feel, I remember at low speeds the steering effort was easier than a Cadillac, and it was a very special steering feel. Later in the late 90's, I acquired a 99 Civic EX coupe 5 speed stick White, body style just like these ones, seeing this makes me want to get another one!

That guy's statement about that body style Honda prelude and how there's only 240 of them left really caught me by surprise, kind of almost makes me want to cry because that's one of the my favorite cars that Honda ever released and they weren't slow either they were fairly quick. I'm a huge fan of Hondas, I really like the interchangeability of the engines in different models. I'm a pretty big fan of cars that are considered sleeper status and there's no easier way to make a sleeper then a four-door sedan Honda Civic with a 400 plus horsepower engine in it.

Very cool! I have a 1994 Prelude F20B Turbo (it’s on my channel) and I also went through the Honda P.A.C.T. program! I graduated top of my class in 2012, and worked at a Honda dealership for a while too. I now use all my knowledge and tools, skills, etc. while servicing medical imaging equipment such as MRI & CT... Having the automotive background gives me a huge advantage in my industry I feel. I still modify my cars as a hobby on the side, and make a lot more money in the medical field vs. fixing people's cars!! Good luck to all those featured in this video!
