Here it is!! The long-awaiting 2020 Tomato Taste Test. This year I grew eight varieties of hybrid tomatoes plus a friend of mine gave me a few of his to try. Which one is my favorite? Which one(s) will I grow again? Which ones didn't make the cut? You'll just have to watch to find out.

Love the taste test, gets right to it, very nice structured reviews, my feeling about the "mountain" shipping tomatoes.

I have had no luck spraying for the blight. What does help mitigate the blight is planting 4 feet apart, putting down thick mulch, using grafted plants (because they are more vigorous), and growing varieties with some tolerance (Jasper, Brandywine, Brandywise (a new hybrid developed by Cornell)).

I really love Pink Boar. Beautiful look- metallic green tiger stripes on pinkish red. They turned my world around. I grew in container 18gal tote. Got about 35 ripe fruit. Ate all of them raw with feta and balsamic. Really outstanding flavour to me. Notably sweet and slightly tart to keep the balance and really juicy. The meaty part has extraordinary texture not mushy but not too hard. Thin skinned but some cracks bcuz we get some rain in Vancouver Canada. Most were perfect tho and they are perfectly symmetrical(round) in shape in my case. Grew two plants this year because I love them so much. Hell bent on trying to get larger yield too bcuz some people have had double + yield I did. Can't comment on taste cooked. They were so good raw,I gobled all 35 the same way. Would love to freeze some so I can have some in the winter.

I truly enjoy your tomato taste test videos! You always do such a great job explaining the flavors. I will be trying some of your favorites next year. Sungold is a must, just wish they didnt crack so easily. Thank you for another enjoyable video. 🍅😊🍅

Thanks! Yeah I just picked off so many cracked Sun Golds this morning. It gets frustrating. But they sure are good!

I dunno if it's something that might be of value to you is I froze my Sungolds when I couldn't keep up with eating them all raw. It is a great solution for cracked ones because they are still delicious and won't go bad due to cracks. I love them on pizza. Even mediocre frozen pizzas. Turns the plain frozen pizza into gourmet level. 😁

Celebrities are on my extensive list for next year (I've already gotten most of my seeds, just to be on the safe side!) Martha Washington might have to go on 2022's list!

On a previous taste test you seemed to be very disappointed in the German Lunchbox. I grew it for the first time in 2029 and thought the flavor was blah but sweet and the texture a little mealy. But, I will definitely grow it again for canning because the sweet flavor made the tastiest salsa and canned tomatoes ever! Just yummy! Surprised that as an heirloom, it was my earliest and most productive tomato out if over a hundred plants and many different varieties including hybrids and heirlooms.

It just goes to show you that you never know how weather, etc. affects your tomatoes. I'm not growing it this year and I will probably regret it. Still have time to change my mind though ... Lol!

The acidity of tomatoes are pretty much the same with all tomatoes per University studies and Craig LeHoullier, its the sweetness and other flavors that change.

That is very interesting ... I'll have to keep that in mind when I'm tasting.
