Thats an interesting paradox to consider. While highly disrespectful and inappropriate, they are essentially fighting to protect your right to do so. However in this sacred place, I doubt they would afford such a disrespectful person any such freedom.

Eric Chen, marching and walking are the same thing. The pattern they are marching to is not difficult at all. This is very easy. I would say it's similar to Michael Jackson doing the moonwalk or some other choreographed minor dance move. A very slow version of a fraternity/sorority step show. Anyway, it's not some super difficult thing to do. It's basic choreographed movements. Nowhere near as complex as the easiest series of choreographed dance moves. Just saying.

To some people that isn't 'drill' as its somewhat theatrical, formulated and exaggerated. The inspection at the start is an example. No one denies the respect to dead heroes this ceremony is intended to demonstrate and gives but please do not call it 'drill'. I notice that every move is a multiple of 21 (steps and timing) to reflect the traditional 21 gun salute which is excellent.

These are men that will stand their post in a hurricane, defying the orders of their CO, and his CO. Do you grasp the level of discipline and duty in what I speak of? Can you comprehend that you have not insulted them, rather you have insulted 1000s of their fallen brothers, which they will guard over without fail? I can explain it to you, but I cannot understand it for you. If you cannot be quiet, stand still, take your hat off, shed a tear, by all means, please don't pass through the front gates. rezsurfer I will not deny that elitists did make money off of these wars however the reasons for entering them did not involve financial gain for certain groups. You can demonize the US as a war machine profiting off of the death, however there has only been 3 recent (past ~100 years) conflicts that I can argue that were indeed influenced by profit such as the the Arab Spring, and the Syrian Civil War. The War of Terror can also be argued to be for profit which I can not deny but at the same time it wasn't entirely. The rest of the conflicts were primarily focused on maintaining peace and warring ideologies. I am willing to argue and defend these points if you object to them as well.

Now I might be wrong about what I'm saying now but in general pride is something you can't see you feel it .I read the one remark that was written and how discussed he was with his classmates and read them out with permission. Taking our history figures does not help our history is something to be proud of not to destroy. A prime minister member of the old USSR made a statement at the United Nations in 1960 that it would take over the USA with out firing a shot his theory was the use of drugs will do our own harm. I saw this live on a school field trip. My dad served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I knew the meaning of it. My classmates didn't. As i stood silently and respectfully, they were on there phones or talking and the teachers weren't paying attention. Sad

Some people don't care about their own countries, or they just have their phones. Technology is a wonder from heaven and a terror from hell.

I just found this and it is truly beautiful and sad at the same time...I have never visited but I think it really does deserve serious respect, glad to see this guy stand up to the crowd like that-very tactfully done Sir!

Does anyone else get like, anxious watching these like youre watching something you shouldnt be. Being entertained by such a seriously wrong thing? I get that feeling everytime I see one of these videos but I still watch them, why? I think its because I really respect the guys that do this and like to see them be able to bring some sort of order to this crazy world in some sort of capacity seemingly on command.

I suspect there are a great many things that are beyond your comprehension.. You seem to have no idea what this ceremony is all about. You obviously have never served. Show some respect.

+Morvonte Mouton First of all, that's a matter of opinion and the reason why someone might visit this sacred place is the same reason one might attend a funeral, or church ect. This ceremony is dedicated to the ones that have fallen and you should respect all service member because without them a black flag with Arabic written on it would be flying over America.

+Alan Hess I also haven't served but I still have a strong sense of military pride... many of the males in my family have served and I plan to when I am older.... I respect the many that this memorial was raised for and wish they could of come home...

The ceremony is for the people who have served and died and have not been able to be identified. The Unknown Soldier...They DO NOT teach this is school though which is kind-of bad imo. They teach how to get a condom on a banana instead...Get your priorities right.

Patt, I understand how frustrated you can get at some of these people who do not know what respect is, even when it is earned. But is the language really needed? I spent my time in, 22 years, I get angry too.
