ghostin is ariana singing to pete about mac. she basically explains in the song how she was still in love with mac even during the engagement with pete, and how pete knew he couldn’t compare to mac no matter what he did. read the lyrics again, it’s so heart wrenching and beautiful at the same time

Julia she broke up w Mac because he was having problems w alcohol and drugs... she said she felt like a babysitter, like she loved him but the relationship was a lil toxic and kinda bad for her but she was still in love w him. She just needed a break from all that shit cuz it was killing her. Then she got with Pete, yet I don’t think she ever truly loved him, and neither does she. That whole thing ab her wanting to marry him for a long time was bs, she just jumped on the first guy that showed up cuz she wanted to forget Mac. Even tho she couldn’t. And then, they got engaged...and she was thinking bout Mac and still in love w him. She just took too long to go after him and her feelings for him. Then it was too late, she wasn’t able to be w him or tell him she loved him cuz he passed so it was over...but I am pretty sure if he didn’t die, she woulda broke up w Pete anyways. It’s such a shame...they loved each other unconditionally. They completed each other. He would rlly die for her. At least she got him on her memory...

Ghostin is about Mac, but not in a straightforward way. She's is singing TO Pete about how she feels guilty for harboring feelings for Mac, and how she knows it's unfair to Pete to see her crying over Mac. It's so heartbreaking

Make Up is about Mac 😭 Ghostin is about Pete and Mac and basically Ari is clarifying she was still in love with Mac. Then In My Head Ari is basically saying she's not into Pete because he's not like she thought he was. And Bloodline she's saying she doesn't want Pete in her blood line and being with him is temporary, she mentions that in Bad Idea too and that song also talks about how she can't let go of Mac. Like she used Pete to numb the fact that Mac left her and she wishes Mac could come and save her. Pete obviously wasn't who Ari thought he was either. Allegedly Pete had sent Mac personal stuff about Ari and Him and I guess Mac's family showed Ariana it, messages on his phone? when she visited them after he passed away. That's why she dropped Pete so quickly right after she found out. Imagine if she never found that out and stayed with Pete's selfish a**. This album is basically stating Pete was wrong for her completely but she learnt from everything that happened and I'm sure she had an actual wake up call too and that made her not want to be stuck with Pete. And she's definitely smarter than he probably thought. She mentions two Angels in IMH. And one killed the other. And how people say the guys not good for her, but in her head he's an angel, but in reality he's not. Break Up With Your Gf is last because It's basically how Ari felt before she got with Pete, he had a gf at the time and that's when she had blonde hair, also she was having problems with Mac at that time and she was straying because issues, I'm sure. But in the music video she portrays the change of hair colors, and how it was an outside looking in type of situation, also she ended up losing interest in the guy, when her hair changed back to brown, and that's when she started to lose intrest in Pete irl, in the muisc video she started showing interest in the girl, but it's supposed to be herself. She choses to love the girl instead, aka herself. She chooses her over any guy. She portrays how that's in fact it... by when she looks in the mirror and her reflection is the girl who looks like her. It's supposed to be her coming to realization that all she needs is herself. And that's why the music video ended the way it did, and her engagement with Pete. She didn't ever need Pete's snake a** at all. He shouldn't have ever did that to Mac. I truly believe that really was what happened. Because why would Ari drop his a** so fast and kick him out of her house like nothing. There must have been a good reason and I believe, that's truly it. It's like she doesn't like Pete at all anymore. Like he for real crossed a line with her.
