it's a super good casting choice in my opinion because the directors knew that the general public recognizes chris evans as a good guy because of his role as captain america and will make them more susceptible to believing he's on martha's side

In their defense I have to say that this is has little to do with them being upperclass and elitist, but that it is a normal social dynamic. I bet you that you'll witness this behaviour in families of all kinds of social standing as soon as it comes to a point that whatever inheritance there is will go to someone outside the bloodline of sons and daughters. People just take for granted that whatever little possesions and wealth the parent generation has will automatically go to the children and next of kind. And if it doesn't it's knives out.

@lo l usually when someone is startled they sometimes will freeze but the first reaction will be to almost shake and try to protect themselves (even if what they saw has no ill harm against them) so dropping the tray perfectly wouldn’t make sense

It’s not exactly in this video, but I really like that when the family tells Ransom that he’s cut out of the will, that it’s “possibly the best thing that could’ve happened to him.” Ransom then sticks around for the will reading to witness the family lose all of their inheritance and calls it out as he leaves with Marta saying “this could be the best thing that happened to all of you” as they lose their absolute shit.

@@viatkins I believe they had a camera on a track, but not connected to the mount, instead being situated on top of a friction mat so that it wouldn’t slip, and then halfway through the shot could be picked up by the camera man off of the mount easily. I seriously doubt they would break a thousands of dollars camera and then just keep doing the shot. You can tell when the shot transitions from track to being handheld.

Also notice that the family didn’t even know where Marta’s (the housekeeper) family is from. They say she’s from Paraguay, then later in the movie they say she’s from Ecuador. It’s a subtle jab that at the end of the day, despite what small praises and compliments they give Marta, the Thrombeys don’t really care about her bc she’s just “the help” to them.

one of the things i love most abt this movie is that the detective knew that marta had smt to do with the crime all along because when the first met he immediately looked down at her shoes and saw the blood and i love that detail sm because he knew she couldn’t have done it even though the evidence was all there

this is hands down one of the best movies i've ever seen. and im so happy the plot twist actually surprised me. like it should be so obvious but you're so engrossed in the movie that you're not really analyzing it. youre just enjoying it

i love the fact that the movie starts with a concert of violins and was composed really fancy, but then the movie ended with a simple song, something that isn’t considered “elegant,” cause marta isn’t a rich person. she’s a person who happens to be rich

I saw it in the cinema and they played a recording of Rian Johnson asking us not to spoil the ending or share it online which I think was a massive mistake. Because of that I knew there was a twist. Without it I would have thought that it was a whodunnit that decided to play with concept and lot make the whodunnit part the central conflict.

My favorite part about this movie is how obvious the answer to the mystery is. If you watch it a second time the answers are right there, but the story is laid out in way that makes it hard to uncover.

I really thought they were gonna reveal who actually voted Marta to be at the funeral, and who voted against it at the end. To show who was really her ally all along. Personally, I think everyone voted against having her there

This film is brilliant, for so many reasons. One thing I loved is that I, someone who usually just sits and watches, letting themselves be entranced by the story, was actively writing along for the first half hour, trying to guess who it was. Then the genre flipped so effortlessly. It was incredibly fun to watch.
