Another fantastic lesson. Dorian = Minor 3rd and Mixolydian = flat 7th changes within the major ionian scale.

Being tonal center C E G: if any of these notes is altered in the xhordcpalette another has to exist in the chord selection. If they're not in the chord then no problem. If one of the notes of the tonal center triad is altered in the chords palette and is the only one then it has to have the leading tone i e. G#dim. Hope you understand.
