The second of my restorations of deleted scenes from Tomorrow Never Dies, allowing them to be seen in the full context of how they could have been integrated into the final cut of the film. This scene features the briefing scene between Bond, M and Robinson which was largely cut down and rearranged in the final edit of the film. This original sequence supplies some interesting classic Fleming-esque background on villain Elliot Carver. The scene is supplied on home media as a raw cut, so here I've recut and reassembled it into a more logical sequence using some shots from the final cut of the film.
The sound design of both scenes has been rebuilt from the ground up (including dialogue pitch correction), and I've visually cleaned up and colour corrected the deleted scenes as best I can to match the surrounding footage. There's only so much that can be done, however, as these clips have only ever been released in abysmal quality, sadly, even on the Blu-Ray. It would be nice to finally get some high-quality versions of these someday!

Reading the books, I've actually come to enjoy all the extra exposition, ESPECIALLY the villain's backstory. Wish they kept in just a tad more

The Brotherhood of MI6 is fantastic 😂❤ M is the stern/sarcastic Mother. Bond is the handsome troublemaker. Moneypenny is the nosy Sister & Charles is the level headed older brother

idk why, but the idea of M, Moneypenny, Robinson and Bond speeding around London in the back of a limo struggling to drink is fucking hilarious.

This is brilliantly edited! Great work on restoring a fun scene to its originally intended form 🙌 But the outrageous bumpiness of that Daimler’s crap suspension is actually weirdly stressful and I found it so frustrating trying to watch all of the actors fail to put a glass anywhere near their faces in this speedy briefing 😂

Why this was chopped down i dont know. It adds so much context to the character and understanding.
@GusMcGuire
@GusMcGuire Жыл бұрын
It was probably chopped down because much of the information would either have been considered irrelevent to the story or could be communicated more efficiently elsewhere in the movie. I also think that the rather unweildy use of the whisky tumblers made the characters look uncharacteristically clumsy and uncomfortable. Note how Brosnan has to steady his glass as the car takes a corner at speed.

As if it EVER MADE SENSE to delete ANY SCENE with Judi Dench in it, and while I didn't think he should play James Bond as suggested as he kept appearing, more Colin Salmon never hurt anything either. Judi Dench's M has more balls than 1/2 the men who played the character on top of it, sad she left and got replaced with castrated Ralph Fiennes (as if he couldn't nail the role with a good script, and he acted less weak in his pre-role for it in Skyfall). Anyways thanks for the restoration work, seeing more from this film both in the context of plot relevancy to today more than the 90's, and it being more well rounded with stuff they deleted makes really wish there was a director's cut. An extended edition of Quantum of Solace as well (not D-cut because the director was the reason it was too short and even seems like 10 minutes just go missing at some point).

Felix was hot. They could have done so much more with that character. I would have enjoyed perhaps some homoeroticism between him and Bond. But that ship sailed, he was recast and killed off.

@trueblue6201
@trueblue6201 Жыл бұрын
I don't think the romance was particularly bad (there certainly have been worst romances in 007 films). The nuke also fit into the escalation Carver was going for and does make sense as way for General Chang to sieze power by wiping out the rest of the top brass.
