@@algrundau9441 Actually I was referring to when they lost to the ducks in 2017 (officiating was garbage but so what) It is kinda sad how no Canadian team has won since 1996, but I hardly think it's a Canada-only issue. Heck, there are American teams who struggle with the same thing some Canadian teams do. Plus, it is fun to hope every year. That it's guaranteed a Canadian team can make the Conference finals this year only makes it a bit more exciting.

The scored 1 goal and his point is they don't score enough as the main reason they keep losing. Goal tending was not why they lost, you are not gonna win any game 7's scoring a single goal.

True, but the offense has also squandered many excellent performances as well. It's easy to point to the mediocre game 7 by Freddy, but shouldn't the offense be good enough to not let it get there (which makes the duct goal look meaningless)?

I think you need to give a little credit to PRICE when HE is playing like that opponents are looking for the perfect shot to beat him...

Pain is the only solution. I'm not even joking. Look at the trajectory Tampa went through. The Stamkos era up until they won the cup was pain for them until they got over the hump by sweeping the Blue Jackets. Same with the Capitals & Ovechkin, a series of heartbreaking losses mostly against the Penguins but the year they went all the way they defeated them.

It's all up to his line's effort. Can't keep relying on Spezza to score goals. What a joke. We have a guy on the team who had the second best scoring pace in a century and is the current Rocket winner - if there is a guy who can beat Price or any other goalie, it should be Matthews. He needs to live up to his potential - now is the time to play some fucking hockey. I can't believe this guy hasn't been there for his team the last 3-4 games. I am so mad.

they've got a lot of UFAs after this season so if they don't get to, I'll say the semi-finals, they'll be looking for a goalie with a better pedigree. Honestly, the Leafs will probably change a lot on the back end and not a lot in the core which usually is good for a team like this imo. Campbell's been great, but it'd probably be a good idea to get a decent guy who can split starts with him. Goalie UFA market this year looks pretty great too.

One problem with the Leafs, all they do is Pass Pass and Pass. Them when they shoot, Price sees the puck clear as day. The Leafs need bodies in front of Price to make it difficult on him. No one is without bias. Not shocked he wouldn't rip into his favorite player on the Leafs. Regardless of how one wants to break it down "mr. puck over the glass" needs to be better. He's paid to get assists...but I don't think you get to credit him for scoring 20 this season and then pretend he doesn't have to score goals. It's been years since he's scored a goal in the playoffs. That's bad. Scorers still get assists, playmakers are capable of putting a puck in the net. It's fine though to have some bias. But if the Leafs go out in 7...Marner is going to be the guy taking the most heat.

He brings nothing of value to the team in the playoffs. He panics with the puck, gets pushed around on the puck, loses every puck battle, and has a jr.b calibre shot. He's awful. Someone making $11M/year should be a game breaker every game, he's been a detriment every game.

That’s the Carey Price effect. He makes so many saves, eventually you think you need a perfect shot to beat him.

To be fair much of the reason why the Leafs have been bad is because of poor management. When you've had bad GMs making poor decisions for so long its hard to be competitive and improve. Its not until recently with Lou and Dubas has the Leafs righted the ship and are now looking like a decent team with good prospects in the system to hopefully come up and help the team soon. If we had a good GM here years earlier they wouldn't have wasted so many years in the 2000s being such poor teams.

I would argue there is a leadership issue. The top players are crumbling under pressure for three years running. Marners 5v3 is an excellent example of this ontop of the lack if goals. Other teams like Boston thrive under pressure.

Alex - Let's give Habs some credit.. Price has been excellent, and they play more of a style suited for playoffs. The leafs don't, and refuse to adjust, despite the veteran leadership brought in. JT being out has not helped, and now looks Muzzin out as well. Habs better team than people thought. They went through injuries this year to Price, Weber, Gallagher, and it effected their season record.

We do have to give price some credit. Toronto has been the clear better team in the series. Playoff price is just an absolute cheat code. And maybe the best in the world when playing like this.
