In this video, we look at the entry level 2200 from Philips. This model may be the cheapest in the lineup, and without the LatteGo milk frother, but it can froth even better with the panarello detached. In this video, we look at espresso lungo, caffe crema, cappuccino in basic and advanced mode, making tea, and we finally have a look at the brew group.

Nice video. If you'll do more automatic coffee machines in the future, try some from Krups, De'Longhi or Jura (this might be on the higher end, but from what I read some years back, it does better coffee than most automatics).

Thank you for this super-clear How To video. I just bought a Philips 2200 machine and wanted to use up some ground coffee I have left over, before switching to beans. You didn't cover it here, and the instruction leaflet that came with the machine didn't explain how to make a coffee with ground coffee either. In another KZfaq vid and on the Philips website, I discovered the way to do it is with a "magic long touch" on the coffee strength button, and the light switches to the measure cup symbol. I thought I'd share that here for anyone else interested 🤓👍

This clip arrived at the perfect moment, when i drink my morning cappucino😅 You just blowed my mind! I had fee years ago an 3200 with a panarello, i tried to steam milk like you with it, but i did not succeed. I succeed this just with an Magnifica S from Delonghi because it had that plastic steamer longer. But i learned to do latte art with the Dedica, i learned a lot from you. Now i have an 5400 Lattego and i steam milk for latteart just with an french press, the lattego sistem just doesn’t steam it for my taste, my wife say that for her is perfect🤣 but…my OCD tell me something else. If i saw this video before…i woldn’t sell the 3200, even if i had some errors with the sensors(the machine itself probably had some problems) Thanks Tom, i really waited for someone to do this kind of things with a machine from Philips. Happy coffee drinking!🙋🏻‍♂️🥳

Thanks very much for posting your experience with the machine! Yes, you can get better texture milk if you do it manually. The nozzle is short, so it does take a little practice. And, you need to use a small milk picture, either a 350 mL or 400 mL.

Fun review, thanks! I like the idea of setting bean + water quantities independently before hitting the go button. My Delonghi allows variation of the bean amount, but setting the water volume is very iffy and I don't think it remembers the settings very well. Good enough for cappuccino, though, and for espresso I use the Sage. In fact, when I get to the last 100g of a bag of beans I dump them into the DeLonghi hopper and open a fresh bag for the Sage. Re water filter cartridges, here in France I can get bottled water that has 3 mg calcium/litre, which is probably better than any cartridge can deliver. Tastes vile to drink but is fine for coffee. My machines say "descale me" about once every 6 months to a year.

I found Philips 3200 from e-recycle bin from 2019. It got one main issue, main water pump silicone hose had rub through and caused pump to make huge noise. Fixed it with new hose. Second problem was steam valve sticking, fixed with replacement valve from e-recycle De'Longhi coffee machine. Next problem was brew unit inlet seals leaking, fixed with silicone lubricant. Next thing leaking was latte go -unit. Latte go does not really drip to coffee cup, De'Longhi is better. Start/stop button does not work correctly every time. In total they make good coffee, but build quality and design is way much better with De'Longhi Dynamica.

I went with something similar, and I believe they are manufactured by the same company. I decided to purchase the Turin SD40 since they had a white model. The only difference I think is the stepless vs. the SD40 has a lock. Maybe you can come up with a mod for the SD40 Turin to make it stepless. Appreciate you and your videos. I didn't like the breville smart grinder pro too much after I had borrowed it from my friend, but it's a nice option, just not for me.

Shoot, I missed that point! I had it set on three out of 12. I feel like a finer grind, might result in a slightly higher pressure extraction.

I mean if the coffee will be iced, I feel like any coffee prep method will do. Especially if you're adding milk and syrups. But anyway, this is a cheap machine that will accomplish an iced coffee too, as you just need some ice.

You are not cleaning the brew group. You are cleaning the panarello. The brew group cleans itself every time you turn on or off the machine. You have an option to use a degreasing tablet that you put in the coffe inlet. I have to add that you warn us in anorher video not to use the coffe inlet for grind coffe because of mold buildup. This inlet is the same the machine uses when it grinds coffe, so the problem would be the same. I have a 5400 for a year now and zero problems with this.
@TomsCoffeeCorner
@TomsCoffeeCorner 7 ай бұрын
What you have to be careful of with the coffee inlet, is that the coffee doesn’t get stuck on the funnel. Which generally does happen when you put it in from above. If you do do that, you need to clean it out afterwards. Then you won’t have any issues with mold either.

@@TomsCoffeeCorner There's also coffee all around the path from the grinder to the basket. And there's water vapour. No matter what you do there's always coffee powder. You can get rid of the coffee clumps that get stuck in the walls, that sometimes account for half the dose 🤣, but that's all. I always put mi finger inside the funel to push down all the ground coffe. But as I said before, zero mold in one year.

i have this machine and i genuinely hate the cleaning process... all the ease and comfort of a automatic machine is gone instantly by cleaning this. The coffee is everywhere inside. Removing the tray is clumsy. Working with grease is not nice. The taste is often wrong. Why did i buy this and not a semi automatic. Or something easy to clean

Have you had the grinder apart? I have a Gaggia Brera super auto, which uses at least the same brew group, cleaning it every week. The grinder is an extremely fussy, flat burr system. It can only handle a very narrow range of beans in the light to medium roast.

The main issues i see ppl having with these styles of super sutomstics is that they they buy really really cheap old stale coffee from the supermarket and then use it up in the next 6 months or so. And they wonder why the coffee tastes like sh*t
