I got into HP very late into my childhood (late high school years) because my family *hated* the idea of witches and wizards they would make me avoid this franchise like the plague. I still have no idea why they didn't just have Sirius and Remus co - parent for Harry as a gay couple, why the hell did they have to kill off Sirius just for Remus to be with Tonks which seemed out of nowhere, Tonks and Remus shared little to no screen time up to that point while Sirius and Remus on the other hand felt more like an old married couple with how deep their bond is. I headcanon that because Remus didn't want to be exploited for not being straight, he forced himself to get with Tonks to make him see "normal." Because if that's how they treat muggles, then I don't want to know how they'd treat gay people. And they kill off Remus and Tonks for literally no reason as well in the last movie, WTH. Harry isn't allowed to have any kind of caring, compassionate guardians? Just the Dursleys because f**k being happy I guess? Wtf. Then again Harry Potter was written by a bigot so what do I know.
