And he knew me, too. I froze. He groaned. 'Aw, fucking hell,' he said. 'It's you.' I couldn't believe it. The bloke on my doorstep was Tony Iommi: the good-looking kid from the year above me at Birchfield Road, who'd brought his electric guitar to school one Christmas, driving the teachers crazy with the noise. I hadn't seen him for about five years, but I'd heard about him. He'd become a bit of an Aston legend since leaving school. All the kids knew who he was. If you wanted to be in a band with anyone, it was Tony. Unfortunately, he didn't seem to feel the same way about me. 'C'mon, Bill,' he said to the homeless-looking bloke. 'This is a waste of time. Let's go.' 'Wait a minute,' said Bill. 'Who is this guy?' 'I'll tell you one thing: his name ain't "Ozzy Zig". And he ain't no singer, either. He's Ozzy Osbourne and he's an idiot. C'mon, let's get out of here.' 'Hang on a minute,' I interrupted. 'How did you get this address? How d'you know about Ozzy Zig?' '"Ozzy Zig Needs Gig,"' said Bill, with a shrug. 'I told 'em to take that fucking sign down months ago.' 'Well, you should go and tell them again, 'cos it was up there today.' 'At Ringway Music?' 'In the window.' I tried not to look too pleased. 'Tony,' said Bill, 'can't we give this guy a break? He seems all right.' 'Give him a break?' Tony had already lost patience. 'He was the school clown! I'm not being in a band with that fucking moron.'I couldn't think of anything to say, so I just stood there staring at my feet. 'Beggars can't be choosers, Tony,' hissed Bill. 'That's why we're here, isn't it?' But Tony just huffed and started to walk back towards the van.

I used to read that Ozzy was one crazy rebellious youth . Tough too before and during the Sabbath days , he could fight a few blokes at one time . He grew up in a mean and poor neighborhood. Hell, he headbutted that bass player who used to scrape his dick with a cheese grinder...that guy Don Costa . Ozzy Zig headbutted him in the tour bus in 1983 and accused Don of caressing Ozzy's nuts. Ozzy laughed his ass off after. Thats how Ozzy fired the guy .

Yes....he also wrote the vocal melodies for the songs(with a few exceptions where he used Tonys riff). Mostly he'd sing along to Tonys riffs , improvising lyrics and melody line. A few days later his older brother told him that there was "This thing" at the door asking for him, so Geezer went "What do you mean 'This thing?' " at which his brother told him to have a look. Yeah, but I defiantly understand it. They both seem to, since they know they were both just kids. Iommi is a bully, He had to be where he grew up, otherwise he wouldn't have made it this far.

I've been seeing/reading interviews from Tony for 30 years, and he has *never* owned up to how viciously he bullied Oz. And boy, did he ever beat the tar out of him. It says a lot about Ozzy that he still perused being in a band controlled by his old school bully. The guy has balls.

@DenniWintyr6 жыл бұрын
It was definitely Bill who told Ozzy he was fired, he's mentioned it in a few interviews. So far as Bill not rejoining Sabbath on their last album & tours it does seem like it's probably unrelated to Ozzy, as Bill gave the same reason (an unsignable contract) when he dropped out of the reunion with Dio, which Ozzy (& his management) obviously had nothing to do with
@JBadAss98Gameing6 жыл бұрын
Agustin, Ozzy Osbourne would be dead without Sharon. There would've never been a black sabbath reunion without her. And bill Ward shouldn't have been such a fucking pussy, He should've went out there with them and played for the fans, NOT THE MONEY. Fuck William Ward on this one. But....hey, maybe they needed a little controversy to get the album going....it did top the charts in 50 countries. Black sabbaths my favorite band, but you cant forget, THEYVE ALWAYS HAD SOME FAKE BULLSHIT GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND TO ENDORSE THEM IN THE PUBLIC NEWS. dumbasses

Ozzy sort of was like Dennis Wilson and Keith Moon. Manic energy, very friendly but impossible to contain. No discipline. So you have to keep this talent captive. Back in that era, it meant throwing punches, flushing pills, forcing a team of teenage chicks out of the room so this little dude could do his job. But Tony also knew that Ozzy had an irreplaceable voice, incredible soul, beautiful composition. So you are basically fighting your right arm to do it’s job. Tough situation. With Elvis, he had no one to keep in check. With Keith, Roger could sort of keep him in check. With Dennis, we’re going to have to fight this bastard every time he goes on a bender. With Ozzy… he was too good and had no understanding of his talent. How do you reign people in? I think Tony probably overdid it, but it was crazy.

It was awesome in that it scared the sh*t out of me. What a total classic Sabbath song! I defy anyone to tell me that this ranks as one of the best metal vocals of all time?!
