Loved the intro mate LOL. Certainly a smick looking bit of gear. Would be a nice crossover stalking & LR rig.

Thanks mate! And I actually got it remonetized! 👌 can't believe it haha Yeah it's nearly there as a great cross over rig for sure, once they get the pistol grip sorted it would be excellent 👌

Hey Tony, great review video! Im looking into a 300PRC rival carbon as well. Were you using factory hornday ammo for your tests/hunts or handloads?

Thanks for the content. Been enjoying the videos especially featuring 300 prc content. If you don't mind obliging, were you able to stay on target in the scope during the shot with this rifle? Were there any 300 prc rifles that allowed you to keep the target in view during the shot?
@tonygillahan
@tonygillahan 9 ай бұрын
Thanks mate, appreciate the feedback 🍻 I often can stay on target shooting the 300s, the biggest reason why you can/can't comes down to the muzzle brake and your position when shooting. The zoom level you shoot on makes a big difference too. A nice prone position with a good muzzle brake and a proper rear bag setup and it's quite easy to stay on target 👌

Great videos as always mate, the thing that gets me with all the new high end off the shelf rifles is that fierce is 2.9 kg, and $6500 and a new Tikka T3x roughtech is 3kg and will shoot hand loads at half MOA no worries and will cost you $2k For understand it’s new tech but it’s easy to get carried away, I’m in the market for something new and there’s just so much choice and price variance
@tonygillahan
@tonygillahan Жыл бұрын
Definitely mate, if you don't want a modern cartridge then get the Tikka all day. The stocks are a lot nicer on these more expensive rifles, but you can always update the stock on a Tikka should you ever wish to 🍻

Completely unrelated question. What if any, satellite mapping app do you have for checking out the paddocks areas where you hunt? I see a lot of U.S ones but scratching to find out handy for over here in Aus. Something where i can look around for roads, gullies water etc on the blocks where i go.

Hey mate, I've been looking around at all my different options for a backpack mountain rifle. I'd like 300prc as I already have a long range PRC which I reload for I just want something a bit lighter. But I keep hearing a lot of feedback on questionable finishes and quality of fierce. It seems to just keep coming up. Not about the accuracy just about the quality of the finish for a rifle in that price range. Almost like they are just rushing them out to make hay whilst the sun shines. Obviously you have some kind of relationship with the importer, can you reach out to them and ask them regarding this. I've even heard of one rifle that arrived without even being stamped with its calibre. It will be interesting to hear what they say, I'd value honesty over any marketing spin.
@tonygillahan
@tonygillahan 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, yes for sure Fierce and Christensen are both renowned for some poor quality fit and finishes. Personally I haven't experienced this with either brand, but I know others that have. The importer for Fierce has stated he's spoken with Fierce about the import quality being paramount so I can only assume they're all pretty good. SJS trading are very helpful if you have any further questions, just hit them up on their website 🍻

Which one do you like better fierce or Christensen
@tonygillahan
@tonygillahan Жыл бұрын
That's a tough one mate, honestly they both have so many pros and cons. For long range work I think the Fierce is much nicer to shoot with the stock design, but for stalking I prefer the Christensen stock, but it has a longer barrel which gets hung up in scrub. It's a tough one and does get to the point where a custom build might be the better option for a lot of people if their funds permit.

How did you find it in comparison to the Christensen?
@tonygillahan
@tonygillahan 2 жыл бұрын
I prefer the Ridgeline stock design for stalking, the Rival is more aimed at prone shooting and for that it's very nice. Rival had a better trigger from factory and better muzzle brake. Also more expensive. Either way I think most people would be happy with either 🍻

@@tonygillahan I have a Christensen identical to yours in 6.5 Creed and i hunt a lot in the hills. It is light, shoots well and the stock dimensions are spot on. I installed an upgraded model Trigger Tech in it before i even shot it. I hear a lot reports about poor fit and finish, but mine is finished really well.
