This is the Part 2 video I made from a visit to the Marshall Amps factory in Milton Keynes UK. Phil Wells showed us around the factory and we were shown many models being produced but also the testing equipment and the incredible Marshall museum.
I show you the Marshall factory like you have never seen it before, and even visit the service department! At the end we visit the Marshall museum and see some of the very rare amps including one of the very first Marshall aluminium Plexi heads and of course the Marshall No 1 chassis.
See the manufacturing from chassis right through to testing, failed product and what goes on to fix those products - as well as amps in the repair shop from customers, shipping (see some amps destined for your country) and we answer why other countries can sometimes be slow to receive their allocation of Marshall amps.
This is a thoroughly enlightening video and Phil Wells shows you exactly what goes on at Marshall... all in a great way.
There are some tips in the video too. So check this second part out but remember to get the best out of these two you have to watch them right through to the end of each one.
Don't forget to hop over to www.tonymckenzie.com to see all the reviews and other stuff for guitarists. The place for no bull reviews... see you there soon. Tell them Tony sent you... and PLEASE subscribe and ring the bell!

Some years since I went around Marshall. Phil Wells was a really great guy and he had been there for something like 40+ years or more. Phil I believe retired recently... but thanks for watching this series and at the time I really liked going around... Thanks for watching.

R.I.P Lemmy. I was a little surprised that you skipped Lemmy's gigantic monster stack. As a bass player, he created a unique bass sound with his marshals, which received worldwide attention. Well, that's how guitarists are :) I just wanted to mention that anyone looking for the Marshall "Killer Sound" is actually looking for Lemmy's "Murder One" amp. Thanks for the nice, interesting tour, greeting from Speyer and keep on rocking !

@@tonymckenziecom Thanks for your answer Tony, it's fun to meet people who share the same enthusiasm for good sounds. I have just finished assembling my first self-made board. I shrunk the ST1 board from the Marshall 1992 Lem Amp as an eyelet board to 5cm wide, so I can also build beautiful oldschool amps from jcm900 and 2000 models. I'm really looking forward to the soundcheck when everything is done. Greetings to the island and all the best for you and your loved ones.

+pm1music Make sure you watch both parts. Yes you could rely on him being at most shows etc. for a very long time... later he became more frail and last time I saw him he was wheel chair driven. A very nice guy. He always signed a poster for you :) There is no doubt that he made rock and roll history when he and the other guys developed the Marshall amp. Phil on here is also a wonderful guy always willing to show you anything you want. They are lucky to have such a great employee that is Marshall through and through. Thanks for watching.

+Pistol Walker Yes it is a fact that females working with their hands on assembly or intricate work are better (and faster) than males. I learned that a very long time ago when I was studying as part of calculating times for steps of assembly of what was in fact fuel injection pumps. Fancy me knowing that :) But I have had lots of experience in many things through my life... and that was one of them. Ha they are better at knitting too :). Thanks for watching.

Tony, thanks for taking the time to put this video together. I've watched it a couple of times now and have really enjoyed it. No cellular telephone system has transmitted your voice in analog mode in so long that it's no chance at all that the amp would receive your voice when you're on the phone.

When he says "guitar leads", does he mean cables? Cables should be replaced every 6 months?
@tonymckenziecom
@tonymckenziecom 2 жыл бұрын
Yes sorry I do believe that's exactly what he meant. Often I used to replace cables all the time through poor cable quality or simply damage or even poor connection quality. If you gig of course the cables are critical, but in the studio where I reside if cables fail? I just pick up another one.

Good stuff! No doubt you will enjoy it. I believe the components are visually the same but in reality are current technology. Phil did comment somewhere on the two videos (or at least he told me if its not on the videos) that they are purposely made to look the same.. I guess the actual values will be the same or similar bearing in mind that some of the stuff off the old 60's/early 70's amps had to be changed to get the amp approvals for CE within Europe... in any case they still sound awesome and I know if you 'flip the lid' then you will see the build looks pretty much the same :). Thanks for watching and I hope you liked it all.

Any "Guaranteed for life" guarantee is for the manufacturer's specified life of the object. So the specified life of a lead may be 1 year, for example. It's not a humans life as is sometimes wrongly understood. Read the small print.

Pick up conversation from a mobile phone?! Theres no way an analogue amp could pick up the digital signals from a modern phone! Analogue mobiles belongs to the 80's
@tonymckenziecom
@tonymckenziecom 6 жыл бұрын
It usually is RF interference and not the actual phone if you get my meaning... probably a harmonic of the original frequency resonating wires of the 'right' length. Thanks for watching.

@henrikhollander2154 6 жыл бұрын
Yes but he said "pick up the conversation". I know that I'm just being anal here but even if you get a resonant antenna and pick up the signal from the phone you will not hear any conversation. You cant "demodulate" a digital signal with a guitar amp.
