Such great in depth techniques for hawthorn, has helped my collection heaps. Thanks a lot, from down here in New Zealand.

Super results. I just acquired a collected hawthorn of similar height and thickness that is shouting to be separated into two trees so reassuring to re-watch and see your success. I’ve never tried air layering on such thick trunks before so will be a new experience for me.

Love airlayering trees! I have many fruit trees that i have airlayered.....FREE trees!! Also i have heard that if you clip the thorns they dont grow back on the old wood. Of course....you have to clip them on the new grouth as it comes out.

As ever, a clear, concise explanation with wonderful subject matter for such an interesting topic. I could listen to you talking about a wood lice crawling along your bench you're so engaging. Many thanks.

Another very nice video. I would be interested in how you do the air layering. Do you use rooting hormone do you remove the cambium?

Always a pleasure to watch and learn something from you. I'm currently air layering an Acer and the leaves have slightly discoloured. Is it just the camera/lighting or does your air layer have slightly yellower leaves than the parent tree? Is this a normal occurrence? The branches are all growing fine still.

With the blackthorn air layer being left on for so long, how often would you water the moss around the blackthorn airlayer in the black plastic around it

Hi Tony - great demonstration video so many thanks. Have you ever successfully air layered a Pauls Scarlet Hawthorn. I read many posts that give the impression it is very unsuccessful. I am determined to have a go with a young tree I have ordered and so would appreciate any additional advice you can give

@@TonyTickle Hi Tony - just wanted to check if you had any updates on your post above........I have a nursery stock plant that established well last year that I may look to air layer this year. Any additional tips would be great, before I come to do it
@coppullcaveman2 жыл бұрын
I'd also be very appreciative of any info as well. I tried last year with my nursery Paul's Scarlet which didn't take. I've also considered grafting from root stock which I may try with some young whips I have.
