If their Pwrcore20 line is anything like their Pwrcore12 tools.that I have, it's something I need to add. The only worm drive saws I have are a Skilsaw Mag77 and an older 6.5" Skilsaw, both corded and both really heavy and unwieldy.

I have the newer skil 10” contractor table saw, and their newer 10” dual bevel slider. Have had both for over a year. Besides some minor gripes like cheap plastic throat plate on the table saw (made a zero clearance) both these tools have been phenomenal, square, and full of power. Now these are corded but I’ve been impressed with the value propositions skil seems to be bringing the last few years

What about miter/compound miter cuts. Those are the cuts that some saws get hung up with the guard not retracting. Usually straight 90⁰ and straight 90⁰ bevel cuts aren't a big problem.

Glad to see Skil really get into the cordless game in a big way with a rear handle saw. Wonder what they SkilSaw version will be like? With the world moving to cordless wonder if the like of the 16 5/16" saws every really become a reality in the cordless world. Those saws at least in a corded version would put a hurtin' on your famous treated 6x6. I know I have one.
@luisinhoens90
@luisinhoens90 Жыл бұрын
I don't think there will ever be a Skilsaw based version of this one. They already got the only cordless wormdrive in the market and it's got more torque than any rear handle saw. Not sure about cordless circular saws bigger than 7 1/4, but I guess their torque needs are way too much for any battery less than 8Ah. I could be wrong, though
@Sniper269
@Sniper269 Жыл бұрын
@@luisinhoens90 Well, I'm not soo sure about that. Many Cordless brand advertise "The power of a corded Saw or Drill, etc." A corded device can't pull but so much current from a 15 amp circuit and receptacle.1500 - 1600 watts maybe as much as 1800 +/- watts on 20 amp circuit and single device 20 amp receptacle for a plug and cord device. So the future may have some light at the end of the tunnel for such a beast...We will just have to wait and see!
@luisinhoens90
@luisinhoens90 Жыл бұрын
@@Sniper269 There are indeed 7 1/4" corded saws with 15 amp motors but the bigger saws got more torque and less RPMs to match the same amps with sustained performance. So yeah, maybe I'm not accurate on that one, or it's just such a small market. What is true is there are more capable battery systems than in the past and both the 36V/40V systems as well as the 2x18V systems may prove with enough oomph to power more demanding applications such as those big saws. I couldn't agree more (to wait and see)

I have the Skilsaw Truehvl. It's meh. I'd pick the dewalt over it if I could re buy a rear handle. Its better in every way, bar the familiar ergonomics of a worm drive (More than likely, if you had a corded rear handle, it was a Skilsaw). The battery is HEAVY and doesnt seem to last for how big it is. The only thing I really like about the skilsaw is the dust shoot.

Hasn't this saw been out for well over a year? But yeah, SKIL seems to be raising the bar as far as quality, selection of tools and performance goes. I have some of the PWRCore 20V Tools i bought a few years ago which was really my first foray into power tools in general and the drill and impact i owned were decent quality, though the circular saw i bought was just really cheaply made and i didn't even feel safe using it, but it was like $50 or something on sale so you get what you pay for. Their newer stuff seems to be pretty nice though and they have some good stuff in their 12V lineup as well. The TTC tested the 12V right angle impact driver against Milwaukee's 12V and 18V models as well as Makita and it destroyed both in terms of power and it was significantly cheaper than the competition. One other thing that gets a lot of people confused is that SKIL and SKILSAW are basically two different brands. SKIL is the cheaper stuff and SKILSAW sells the high end stuff. I'm sure you already know this Clint, but i just figured i'd put that out there.

I'm a stickler for getting the right tools for whatever job I'm doing, so it's important I buy a good saw. Im going to be getting into a lot of wood projects soon, so I'm really considering this saw because of quality and price. I'd like to get a track kit to turn it into a track saw. I saw a review of this saw on another channel a little while back and it really pissed me off. Chervon is really stepping it up with Skil and Ego and it’s so annoying because I don’t have a Lowes near me. I have no less then 5 Home Depot’s within a ten minute drive but the nearest Lowes is like 45 minutes away with normal traffic. I’d gladly trade in my Ryobi stuff for Skil and Ego and even some of my Milwaukee stuff for Flex. Absolutely awesome saw, great charger, fantastic price, and so on. But honestly what I think impressed me the most was also one of the most simple and obvious things that, as far as I’m aware nobody else has done. The freaking built in USB ports on many (not all) of their batteries! It’s freaking genius and obvious and maddening that it took this long and Skil to do it! Also the power jump 5 minutes to 25% charge thing is sweet as hell! I think Chervon is putting everyone on notice with Skil and Ego. Damn you Lowes! Ps. Yes I know I could buy them online but with tools I want to see and feel and hold before I buy. Call me old fashioned. Awesome video as always! It was real nasssssss like!

The blade on the wrong side is a massive deal breaker for me. When your blade is on the operator's side there is WAY more chip out and tear out that goes flying at the operator. I upgraded from the Milwaukee 6 1/2" saw to the 7 1/4" saw for that reason alone! It helps that the bigger saw is much stronger but the 6.5 did have all the power I needed... Just my two bits, I'm sure many other people will prefer their saws in the left blade configuration and that's ok too. It's ok to be wrong. Just kidding.

No price shown on your Amazon link unless you put it in your cart??!! What kind of crap is that. Seriously that is not cool.

I want to make a snide comment about how this has grown from an LXT to an XGT, but I’m not a gnome anymore.I would also want to go on to rant about how unimpressed you’d be with it if it was rendered teal and only needed one battery. IDK what those Makita people did to you, but they must have been real jerks. Sorry about all the editing, but this is conflicting for me.
