Here is a bonus video for this week! I put together a quick overview of all the comic book cleaning and pressing tools that I have in the arsenal. Some of these are one I have started out with and since moved away from (e.g., drafting erasers) and others are staples in the cleaning process. I also talk about tools for advanced methods such as dent removal and spine correcting. The links to most of these items can be found in my other posted videos or on Michael Sorensen's Kaptain Mykes page. If you want to get started yourself, I have restocked the cleaning and pressing kits in my eBay store. Check them out! Also, let me know what works and what doesn't for you in terms of cleaning.

Thanks for the videos. You got me into cleaning and pressing. I also just ordered your cleaning starter kit. Can't wait to get it and start cleaning. Cool little hobby. Now that I, m retired it will keep me busy. So far I have only ruined one comic with the recently purchased heat press machine. Lol. Overal I,m pleased with the results I,m getting. It's only going to get better from here on.

15:12 you can do it with a guitar pick. Many shapes, sizes and colors to choose from. Also question: on 18:35 Is not that important to know the heat temperature on that tool? I'm asking because the wood edging tool one does have and probably the main reason is a must have.

I really appreciate this indepth discussion of your tool arsenal! I'll consider ordering your kit. You spoke of your next vid on stain removal. Does this include light color touchings from a pen to cover spine tics? I later found using blue light. If vid is not, any thoughts on self service for this? I heard CGC does offer this type of removal service but assume it's very expensive. Liked vid 😃 👍

For the next video, I am focusing on lightening stains from foxing or water damage. This is usually the most common type of staining that we encounter. I haven't tried restoration removal yet, but it is on my list of skills to explore. I just sent a X-men book for resto removal at CGC. So I can keep you posted on how expensive it was and how the process went.

Is cleaning easier on Silver/Bronze comics rather than Copper or Modern? Seems like the modern paper might be more sensitive? no?

Yes, the approach is very different on modern glossy books. Usually, they are not as soiled as older Silvers. You have to be more careful not to remove the gloss. Usually I find myself removing color transfer on modern glossy books. For that, the eraser and absorene pad will still work fine. Silvers overall take a lot more time.
