If interested in how to DIY common metal trims on a brake, or how it works, then watch on! I get a lot of questions about how we bend or if we bend our metal. We try not to have to bend our trims, but occasionally need custom details here and there. Let me know if you would lie more detail videos on this process or what trims you are curious about and maybe I can do a more in depth how to video.

It is a very good book for beginners as well as for those that are already into kzfaq.infoUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt A very good basic ebook to keep as a reference too. I like it and the way the subject matter is presented. It has humor and that helps with the reading.

Thank You! I'm renting a brake tomorrow. Your first tip upfront about unrolling the aluminum from within the box, alone, made the video worthy. I was already concerned about the headache of dealing with the 50 ft roll of aluminum. That said, the entire video was exactly what I needed! Thanks for taking the time to make it!

Two tips if you’re renting a break… 1) adjust the tension correctly before you start work. Figure out the brand and you can get instructions online. Tension has to be tight enough and EVEN, otherwise your pieces will creep when bending, ruining the piece 2) CLEAN the inside of the jaws and the hinge. The clowns who rent those breaks will leave them full of aluminum chips from cutting that will scratch the hell out of your coil stock, again ruining it.

In 2009 we didn't have enough fence work,so I installed vinyl siding. I bent all the fascia, rolled a profile with a van Mark. The one I always struggled with was the birdbox ,where the gable fascia meets soffit, and lower fascia. One important thing to note,a hem in addition to being stronger..also will not slice your hands !

If you only do a half bend after scoring it takes a few more up & down movements on the metal to separate but you will have a clean edge on both pieces of metal. Also whatever side of metal you score will leave a shiny edge where the paint was removed. You can flip the metal & cut the back side so the finished side has a perfect edge if the edge will be exposed. Love the videos!

Awesome tutorial! Thank you. We are beginners. We are going to use our brake for the first time today. We have a 50' roll...wondered how to get out the 7' pieces we need - great tip! Also, nice info on how to cut to the desired widths! We don't have that nifty slitter that you have...so hand scoring will have to work for now! Thank you again - best tutorial I've seen!

thank you sir for this video and the help that you are showing to score the aluminum with the utility knife. I used to use that method on the metal frame I told a guy from peru that you can scored the metal and you snip the sides and bended back and forward and it will cut a straight line and a colombian guy was the boss and they fired me because I told them that you can do that and after 15 years I can see that someone else do this thank you again

You can use a digital angle gauge on your phone in combined with a magnetic digital angle gauge stuck to the bender to get dead on angles, in most cases you don't need this much accuracy though but it's a cheap add-on.
