Her husband got a job as promotion manager and took her out on tour to help sell T shirts. But soon the headliner noticed her voice and ask her to become his opening act. OMG, I haven't even watched this yet but I already know you're gonna cry. This song I've heard a couple hundred times. I work in Country radio. I cry each and every time I hear this song. Also her song "God's Will". Martina knows how to make a person ugly cry, I can tell you that.

I've heard this song 10 years ago. I broke down in tears probably a minute into hearing this song. I have a very strong paternal instinct and look forward to the day I get to be a father. It's songs like this that also makes me want to adopt. All children deserve to grow up surrounded with love.

This song totally reflects the abuse that I suffered at the hands of my so called father, the biggest difference is that I managed to survive my abuse and this poor little girl didn't and this song always brings me to tears because this very easy could've been my fate!!!!

I’ve always seen it as all those kids at the end were also victims of abuse and they were there to welcome her home. And the little boy was there before she died to help her transition. It’s heartbreaking. I was a victim of child abuse, luckily when I was older and had more strength, I talked to my mom about it and got the church involved and she went to anger management and started taking medication for depression and she stopped hurting me. She’s never hurt my younger siblings. I was one of the lucky ones.

If you want to hear Martina McBride, you have to hear the song Independence Day. The power of this little womans voice cant be touched. Please keep it up Martha.

This story is very close to my story. My father was physically, verbally, emotionally, and spiritually abusive. I'm just glad we (I'm the oldest of 6) all made it somehow. I'd have said something. I never want someone else to go through what I have.

Martina is from my home county in Kansas. She grew up singing in church and then in her dad's rock and roll band. She switched to country for a career and then there ya go. She is full of talent and a wonderful woman who changes lives with her music.

Martina isn't afraid to take on topics that others shy away from, and I believe I'm correct in saying that she publicizes resources that help and donates to them from the proceeds of these recordings.

A lot of these country song...bring back my childhood.. What I grew up on.. Love to see these songs still around. As a Kid, you don't see all the story.. But listening to them again..Most have a meaning that is deep.

This song shatters me ...I grew up in a small town.( in az) .big family...everyone so close.. ( over time my family lost so many to addictions and cancer ) ... I moved away to tn to work ... while at work I got sent 3 videos ( audio) ...I had to listen to them a few times because at first I didnt recognize the voices ...and I was in disbelief...it made me throw up even.. long story short my aunt in the audio was literally beating my cousin ( her great nephew) he was 6 and for 3 solid minutes u can hear her making contact with his little body .... and no one helped him....everyone walked out ( i cant describe the depth of helplessness I felt in that moment ... knowing I was hundreds of miles away and cudnt be there in person to stop it )...his sister recorded it and sent it to me ...I called the cops to stop her ...she then contacted me and said she had just snapped and I had betrayed the family and her by calling the cops and I told her ...the day she choose to put her hands on that baby is the day she herself betrayed the family ....there is no excuse in this world that could justify hurting an innocent kid.... if you see something..say something " it shouldn't hurt to be a child" .. I never imagined my family would have even been in this situation ...its heart breaking from every angle

This song especially always got to me. I was abused when I was 9 by my mom's ex and since being taken away from my mom, I've searched forever to find my own place in the world. I've always wanted to go back to my mother, but since I've grown, I've realized I don't deserve someone who always chose someone before me. I always think this could have been me.. I'm grateful for my life everyday.

Two more powerful songs frm Martina McBride (who's been a major star in Country music for at least 15 years): check out 'Independence Day' and 'Broken Wing' ... both are *so* good! Before this song came out, I used to occasionally walk by a 'Pocket Park' that had a cast-concrete statue of a child-like angel. The base said "Donated By The ______ Family"; after the song came out, I always thought of that 'concrete angel' when I heard this, and wondered if they donated it because of some incident like this.

One of the reasons I love real country songs ( not so much what passes for commercial country today) is that all songs have a message -- some messages are silly & are just fun ( listen to " The Chair" by George Strait) or Mac Davis' " Hard To Be Humble, others will break your heart because they are so real....try listening to Reba McEntire's "She Thinks His Name Was John" one of the first songs about the terrible toll AIDS was taking...
