It contains a wooden stick and small bits of resin-filled wood. The content makes it likely that it is indeed a tinderbox. In that case, we are missing the fire-steel and flint, but they could be hiding beneath the wood.

As someone who got her anthropology degree, this brings up so many questions. 1. Do have an estimated date of these items or a guess? 2. If this is under the melted ice and these items do not look too old considering there is a packhorse and dog, does this mean that we have faced a warming period in recent times and maybe not as far back as some have thought? 3. OMG - I loved this little video and wish I could be there to help out.

Our finds are radiocarbon-dated. The object were originally lost in the snow and only later ended up on the ground. You can read more about the peculiar nature of ice patches as archaeological find spots in this post: secretsoftheice.com/news/2018/01/26/global-warming/

Is it possible these are the collective belongings of a group of people who came to an untimely end? Attacked maybe?

Interesting subject but poorly done. The video is 90% people and 10% items. A few split seconds, a mere glimpse of the finds compared to lengthy fashion shots of the people is disappointing.
