Til this very day...even with the Guilty Gears and DNF and Blazeblues...this is *still* THE MOST BEAUTIFUL 2d fighting game ever. I can't even play it but follow it anyway 😅

For the most part yes, but many characters are missing some special moves they usually have. To provide an example, Clark does not have the "Frankensteiner" in XIII

0:51 Saiki literally left Mukai in the bones 😅 Speaking of Saiki, something interesting about his NEO MAX when he is a sub boss (AKA Transformed Saiki) is that he pretty much does Mukai's full screen Desperation Move from KOF 2003 If you look closer when Saiki does his NEO MAX his chest is glowing just like when Mukai does his technique. Transformed Saiki's proyectile is just a rock, just like Mukai's. That gives me a theory that Saiki actually stole Mukai's powers. Let's not forget that Saiki is the ancestor of Ash and Ash stole Chizuru and Iori's powers. That's just my crazy theory

Fun fact: while Iori lost his flames due to the events of KOF XI, and had to relegate to the Yasakani style of martial arts, Kyo relegated back to his original moves set to adapt to Ash's ability to steal Sacred Treasures when close by. This meant using projectiles and a new Neo Max as keep away moves for Ash.

I really like the art style of KOF XIII Over time I ended up preferring the anime/cartoon art style over the semi-realistic one 😄 Athena, Claw Iori, Clark, Mai, Ryo, Ralf, Leona, Mr. Karate and Kula have my favorite NEO MAX Moves Clark's technique is a reference to Robin Mask's Tower Bridge (Kinnikuman) Clark is a man of culture 😎👍

My favourite Neo Max is Raiden's. I'm a sucker for stiff lariat finishers in wrestling, and his is the perfect representation of that. Simple yet devastating.

8:26 Mr Karate doing a Susanoo (Naruto) What I like about Takuma's NEO MAX is that it is Shin Akuma's Misogi from CVS2 😁 Unpopular opinion. Takuma's design in KOF XIII is his best look. Not only his new fighting stance is more badass but also his new look reminds me of *Doppo Orochi* (Baki the Grappler) and real life legend *Masutatsu Ōyama* (rest in peace) If Takuma returns in a new game, I hope he keeps his KOF XIII design. My favorite :)

Just a thought-- Ash would never laugh like a maniac like how he does in his Neo max Fructidor, it's probably because of the orochi effect that comes from Ioris flames I think.

It's kind of a Shame for me that I never got to play KOF 13 when it was 1st Released for Consoles in late 2011, Because other Games I've bought and played in 2011 were "Mortal Kombat 9" (2011), "Batman: Arkham City," "Dead Rising 2: Off The Record" and "TES5: Skyrim" from my Time.

hey, shoryu, we got a lot latest trailers at summer game fest 2024: we got 3 reveal trailers for FF city of the wolves: 2nd announcement trailer, b. jenet & 2nd newcomers, vox reaper's gameplay trailer and also street fighter 6 has now in SNK guest characters as season 2 DLC, mai shiranui & terry bogard in fatal fury / KOF series and as well as elena & m. bison's return in season 2 from street fighter 6. we need theses trailers analysis video for FF COTW & SF6 video content on summer game fest.

The funny thing is that majority of the XIV and XV climaxes are based off of these, and some of these are a testament of being better Just look at the pacing especially Andy and K's, let me explain: Andy in the 3D era needs 3 separate angles to get that oomph off (honestly to make it better he needs the old YES/DES mantra especially in 98) but the timing in XIII hits different The focus breath, the blackout timing, the sudden one-hit and the realization of it makes it better. For K', it's the immediate: "I NEED TO DO THIS, NOW." The emergency despite his calm demeanor makes it better, and the fact that after you KO'd an opponent, the glove *breaks*. Nothing that XIV or XV couldn't achieve. Sure the downgrade can be coped as "oh he can control this better now" but everything about the 3d pacing is off compared to XIII. Strikes are deft, quick, and has good flair, which is why they're far more superior in a sense.

Am I the only one who believes SNK would be better off going back to something closer to KOF XIII animation? It seems like everyone is going the 3-D route, and to be honest, doing it better than them. But they peaked on 2-D with XIII that now they would be unique on the market going back. Just looking at these Neo Max supers reminded me just how gorgeous this game was. Thanks for the vid Shoryu! I hope SNK looks at this and decides they would have a greater impact going back to their roots! Imagine the Orochi team in this style!

Personally, I always preferred Ryo’s punch super in the earlier games without all the overblown effects. Just a normal punching strike that sent the opponent spiraling away.

Unfortunately the steam version of this game doesn't have rollback.... Only they did was a real release for ps4/Nintendo switch with kof 13 global match with rollback and lobbies. Us pc players will have to suffer suffer till the end of time till snk if have the thought of adding rollback to the steam version... Snk really dropped the ball with this one as many of us aren't willing to get a ps4 just to play kof 13 with rollback.....

I wish kof 15 was exactly like kof 13 but kof 15 isn't to me it's falling short in alot of kof 13 mechanics that are missing from kof 15 to me kof 13 is the best of all kof I have kof 15 but I'm not really a fan of it because it has flaws and weaknesses that kof 13 fixed back then

The game had so much potential, but the story is super underwhelming and it honestly it looks ugly. Don’t get me wrong, some of the characters look great (K’, Kula, Joe, Ryo, Elizabeth’s team, the Psycho Soldiers, Ash, Saiki, and the entire Kim team) and all the NEO MAX supers are amazing. But man, other characters look awful (the entire Ikari team, Daimon, Maxima, the Bogard brothers, and even the Yagami team). Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Skull Girls, and Phantom Breaker: Omnia are actual gorgeous looking games with an actual good story mode. This is my least favorite canonical KOF, especially since this was the game that sent SNK to Pachinko limbo for what felt like forever. Nintendo (and Sega) was in Wii U jail while Capcom threw away Mega Man while making Street Fighter 5 with sticks and glue, SNK was needed during the most humiliating time for game studios only for SNK to take their sweet time with pachinko machines.

I disagree with the notion that KOF XIII is "the best looking game in the KOF series". Who thinks this? Many of the character sprites don't even have faces like Mai and Yuri for example. Or just look the thumbnail. They barely even gave Athena eyes. Not only that but the sprites look smaller here than in other KOFs which may be part of the reason why facial features are absent.
