I have a theory: what if the island Sonic grew up on (Green Hill Zone), is actually angel island that fell into the water because something happened to the master emerald, and maybe that is why the Echinda's were actually after Sonic. Maybe Sonic got his powers from the master emerald somehow and they need his power to get the island in the air again. It sounds far fetched but I think it would be a cool way to tie in the master emerald and the echindas

I got the feeling number 2 is the most likely route. If they’re aiming for a trilogy they’re most likely going to do Sonic and Tails against Knuckles and Robotnik before the mad scientist steals the Master Emerald from the home world to power the Death Egg, then the third movie would have him complete Metal Sonic after some problematic prototypes (i.e. Silver Sonic and Mecha Sonic) which leads to the kidnapping Amy Rose to lure in Sonic then turn on it’s creator after he tried to destroy him for deeming him as a failure for not succeeding in destroying Sonic. That’s how I see the movies playing out. At least an original three...

Actually, it’s seems like Robotnik might’ve already been hypothesizing on the idea of using animals as power sources, since in his Lair there’s actually a file labeled BADNIK.

I could see metal sonic and knuckles being in the sequel. Shadow seems like a bit of a stretch, but I could see him being in a third movie if it happened

They should do the "Robotnik tricks Knuckles" idea. (I really hope Knuckles is in the sequel overall) And they should have Crush 40 write and preform a song in the end credits.

I see the sequel introducing the characters the Sonic 2 game introduced, otherwise the story will have too many characters to cover. The new I think characters will be Tails (confirmed) and Metal Sonic. Amy Rose is a possibility if they combine it with Sonic CD. Knuckles will appear in a mid credit sequence for the 3rd movie, which lines up with the games as to when he appears. A theory I have regarding Robotnik is that he finds a Chaos Emerald on the mushroom planet, which he may use to leave. Exactly how I'm not sure. He knows nothing about planets other than Earth so he will use the emerald's power to get back to Earth, where he also has access to his technology. He will know the emerald has a magical connection with Sonic as the quill he has will react with it in some way. He will learn of Sonic's planet when he is back on Earth. Good thing about Green Hills Montana now is the townsfolk are now somewhat comfortable with Sonic, so we will see scenes of him in town interacting with people, also probably eating Chilli Dogs or something. He may still wear a 'disguise' like in the Piston Pit but probably just in case new people come into town. Tails will not have any issues speaking to people in town asking for Sonic for the aforementioned reason. Some of the movie will definitely be the friendship building scenes between Sonic and Tails. The Tornado will appear, as Tails and Sonic will find an old bi-plane and Tails will fix it up so they can take on Robotnik. Rural Montana makes finding an old ex crop duster bi-plane very plausible, which is part of the reason I believe the writers and Jeff Fowler have put some thought into sequels. The Death Egg (or a movie substitute) will most likely appear as well, possibly powered by the Chaos Emerald Robotnik found. The Death Egg would be a good reason for Sonic and Tails to need the Tornado, as they do in Sonic 2. Metal Sonic will be the weapon Robotnik creates to destroy Sonic, which is why we will most likely see Super Sonic in the sequel as well. Again this all lines up with the Sonic 2 game. With the Chaos Emeralds, I personally think 7 is too many to be in a movie, but part of the plot could be Sonic and Tails seeking out the other emeralds as Sonic will need them to become Super Sonic if they keep that aspect of the video game canon.

I think there going to follow a little bit of Genesis games in reference of character appearance and story. Sonic had no other characters and no Super Sonic until Sonic 2 and chaos emeralds will be the focus,which I think, will happen in the second movie. I think Knuckles will appear in post credit scene in S2, depending on how well the 2nd movie does, I believe he will be an antagonist 75% of the movie.The story direction they will use is unclear to me because its Hollywood, they might make up anything.

I can't see Shadow being in the second film. It would be too much. I'd wait for him to be in the third film. Maybe tease him at the post credits of the second movie

Surprising you didn't mention Super Sonic since that's like the biggest thing the chaos emeralds can do. Nice video though. It feels great to be excited about future Sonic movies and all the great things we could potentially see in them. There's really sooo much they could do with future films, so much ideas from previous material to pull from and make their own in a new and exciting way. This truly is the best timeline.

Having Agent Stone become Snively would be pretty cool and make for a nice non-game reference.

The crossover with Hop theory is probably because Tom Wachowski and Fred O'Hare are both played by James Marsden.

The presence of the echidna tribe plus the possible appearence of the chaos emeralds and knuckles makes me think that Chaos (the sa1 villain) might be a thing in a future movie. I know, it is highly unlikely, but it is something I like to think about.

I do see metal sonic coming as I felt that was the OG path in the movie. Chaos Emeralds I do think will be added, and even better it makes sense with Eggman knowing its power through "Mushroom planet" he finds it and learns that it can "Warp" him. We get Chaos Control, but I think Knuckles should be a third movie deal. Thats when he was introduced in the genesis games, and we could get with the Chaos emerald a new land mass appearing "floating" as the end credit scene

My theory is the reason Sonic is so fast is because he absorbed power from the Master Emerald, and that's why the Echidna Tribe was after him. Tails was probably with him when it happened and got a 'contact high' of sorts, that made him fast, but not the unlimited power Sonic got. On flipside, it gave him extreme intelligence.

Too soon to reveal Shadow for the second movie. You gotta slowly ease the audience into the more intense stuff with later movies.

Knuckles was only 6 when Sonic left his world, I doubt he attacked him. Also the tribe disappears by the time he grows up so I think that's enough for Knuckles to have a grudge against Sonic (idk I sound too invested I should stop)

I remember the scene when Jim Carrey (Dr. Eggman or Robotnik) were talking to Sonic about intelligence. It reminds me of the episode of Sonic SATAM in the 1990's. Almost referencing the scene as Dr. Robotnik was talking to Sonic's original sweetheart, Sally Acorn. I still love the show and this movie. Way better than the 1996 anime flick. Great job.

@WatchMojo I think Sonic is a living embodiment of Chaos. He was able to use Chaos Control multiple times throughout the film. Being adverse to Water. A part of him is embed with the Echidna Worshipped Water God which is why The Echidna tribe was coming after him, thus will bring up Knuckles involvement in the third or fourth movie.

Sequel should be sonic 2 and CD mixed storyline and the 3rd should be sonic 3 and knuckles storyline.

I think Robotnik will make The Egg-Mobile from his broken aircraft, travel to earth, with the help of his trusty quill, gets settled down in a lab that was shut down by the government after he left, discovers a file about Project Shadow and sends his robotic creations, Scratch and Grounder while he unearths Shadow and the final battle is Shadow vs Sonic

I want Sonic 2 to have Sonic, Eggman, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Metal Sonic. You maybe wondering what on earth I'm talking about. The ending of the first movie (Tails' entrance) suggests that Tails already knows Sonic, and he says "just hope I'm not too late", perhaps implying that someone is after Sonic and Tails hopes he ain't too late to save him. The person after Sonic must be Knuckles, the Echidna who is part of the Echidna tribe from the first movie. Now, I'll explain Amy and Metal Sonic. The ending of the first movie shows Eggman in the Mushroom planet with a quill from Sonic. He could use that powerful quill to create Metal Sonic. Metal Sonic kidnaps Amy Rose to use as bait for Sonic to come in to get her but ends up in Eggman's traps. Basically, Knuckles will try to stop Sonic, they then become friends somehow (I'll leave it to good writing hopefully), and the three of them go to stop Eggman and the newly created Metal Sonic, who has another person from Sonic's world, Amy. Remember Sonic OVA? Same thing, only the girl in that movie is replaced with with Amy, which actually follows Sonic CD's story.

Personally I’d love it if Robotnic made a Metal Sonic powered by the quill that he has, but also used a Chaos Emerald to go back to Earth and uses Metal to frame Sonic. Meanwhile his assistant helps form GUN and uses the robots to chase Sonic down

This movie was so great that i watched 3 times lol Hope they bring Shadow to the sequel, i wonder how would it be a relantionship between those characters and dr Robotnik. Imagine that: Sonic and Shadow start the movie having some arguments with each other but with the help of Tails and Tom they somehow manage to work together and save people from crazy Eggman. That would be so cool!
