Wyatt Berry Stapp Earp was an American lawman and gambler in the American West, including Dodge City, Deadwood, and Tombstone. Earp was involved in the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral, during which lawmen killed three outlaws Cochise County Cowboys I think he was very good with a gun these guys started learning how to use a gun at a very young age like 5 years old there were a lot of talented gun men in those days it was part of their lives your gun was your pillow. in order to survive it is true there were not as many gunfights in those days as they claim. you would have been stupid if you were going around acting a fool you would not have lived very long :)

Very True, most of the Tall Tales we read about are just that, Tall Tales, very few if any of these men had any special skills with pistols, or had any shooting abilities, it takes no skill to ambush a man, shoot him in the back, or attack them from behind, which is what most of them did, Earp was in fact not good with any weapons, at all, Men Like Ben Thompson, and Clay Allison were in fact true Gun Fighter, experts with the Fast Draw and deadly Shots, Billy The Kid and Butch Cassidy preferred to Shoot men at distance, ambushing them , murdering them, they knew they would have no prayer of surviving a gun fight at close range.

You are correct the story line was spot on what was not was the Portrayal of Billy, he was not a Charming, good looking young man with exceptional skills with guns, in fact the opposite is true he couldnt shoot a Pistol worth a damn, he was able to ambush to murder men at distance with a rifle, but if he had to actually get into a gun fight he surely would of been killed very quickly.

Hickock was not a outlaw but recognized by all as the best pistolero in old west. He constantly practiced his shooting.A class act and Union scout who would go behind the lines disguised as a rebel. A decent man.Definetly Not a outlaw. Shooting and killing Tutt after Tutt fired First with One shot at 75 yards with a cap and ball pistol Could not be equaled by anyone today trying same thing with same weapon. Try it some Time.

Bat Masterson who did know both of them said Thompson was the better gun hand.

Doc Holiday was an interesting man for sure, high IQ, a Dentist, he spoke Latin, Spanish, and French, He could recite large amounts of Bible Passages, from Memory, and he was Absolutely Deadly with Pistols, he carried 2 sometimes 3 pistols on his person at all times, Wyatt Earp said once, I would hate to ever go up against Doc...He did not like Any of the Clanton's at all they called Doc a " Fancy Pants City Boy " He in return called the Clanton's Ignorant Apes, this is what started the tension between them, Holiday usually tried to avoid a gun fight but would hold nothing back if he was forced into one, He once said that problem with those fools at The Ok Corral was nothing....

@@jon7968 Doc Holliday was credited with more kills than just the OK Corral Fight. Charles White in Fort Griffith Texas, Mike Gordon in Las Vegas New Mexico, Milt Joyce Tombstone AZ . He didn't kill Joyce but shot a revolver out of Joyce's hand putting a bullet through Joyce's hand doing it. And then shot a man named Parker who worked for Joyce as a bartender . Some Reported that Parker pulled out a Shot gun from behind the bar trying to aid Joyce and Holliday shot him behind the bar. Some Reports say Holliday shot him in the toe. But both men were shot and disarmed in the shootout but lived. Then The 3 accredited kills during the Ok Corral and vendetta ride With Earp . The 2 Mclaurys at the Ok Corral are said to be killed by Holliday and later Frank Stillwell in Tucson at the rail yard. Johnny Ringos death has been claimed to have been at the hands of Holliday. And it's been claimed to have been a suicide. But it's highly unlikely it was a suicide considering Johnny Ringos reputation and the fact that he and Holliday were going to gunfight a day or two earlier but others intervened stopping it . And then Ringo was found shot in the forehead above the left eye. And Ringo was right handed on top of not being known for suicidal thoughts. Bat Masterson along with Wyatt Earp and others who knew Holliday claimed he was a slight and frail temperate man but also the deadliest man with a pistol or knife they had ever known or seen use either. He had to leave both Georgia and later Dodge City Kansas after killing men in both over gambling disputes during his earliest known fights. Both with pistols and one with a knife.

George Fraser was an interesting character after beating a Fame gunman in t wo gun fights he ran when Miller was shot directly in the chest and still got back to his feet what he didn't know was Miller was wearing a Steel vest similar to the rumor about Wyatt Earp also never being shot because he had to steel vest. So contrary to his friends claims of a steel vs the heat would be oppressive as you can see Jim Miller got by with it in a very hot place as well. Why was Jesse James picture showed when it was Sam bass' turn who was not a gunfighter he was a stagecoach and other robber.

People forget there are accounts of gunfights being so close, clothes catch on fire I’ve also been to the town where Hickok was born, not to far from the Illinois river or even on it. Explains how he went south then west

I love how people say this hardly ever happened, yet only a very very very ......................................................... small part of history is actually recorded. Even with all the tech of today only a very small part of history is recorded.

Frank "Buckskin" Leslie and Doc dont get a mention? Living in Tombstone will tell you otherwise. Wyatt himself said that Frank was the only man who was a better shot than Doc. Do your research. Including Wyatt Earp is a joke.

When wild Bill Hickok was shot by Jack McCall it was calamity Jane who was wild Bill's drinking buddy who captured McCall. A lot of people have wondered if wild Bill and calamity Jane slept together it seems highly unlikely as back in those days while bill was considered a nice-looking man. He had his pick of women in calamity Jane was somewhat manly. There was no down however that they were friends and drinking buddies.
