That's one of the bigger problem with corona. Some people don't show symptoms, so they think they're not affected or immune. In reality, they are still carriers, but simply don't show symptoms. Sure, the carrier may survive (since there's no symptom), but they still end up SPREADING the disease all over the place unintentionally (let's not talk about the intentional spreaders).

"Contagion" is still one of the most terrifying films I've ever seen (having been raised by a survivalist, the realities of a viral pandemic have always been in the forefront of my mind)...great list, Mojo! The novel is like the most violent and beautiful poetry...the film is horrifying and gets under your skin...definitely the most unique zombie premise I've ever encountered. The synopsis sounds bizarre, but the filmmakers really did it justice. It's In my top 5 best films.

The MEV-1 sounds a hell of a lot like the coronavirus. Its spreading faster than we can contain it and that's the reason contagion scares the crap out of me.

Coronavirus is nowhere as deadly as MEV-1. BUT, because it isn't as deadly the carriers spreading is potentially worse than MEV-1 in Contagion. That's why they can identify the index patient a.k.a patient zero and contain the virus in about half a year. I don't see Covid-19 being contained that fast.

Mev-1 is based on a real virus discovered in 1998 called the Nipha Virus. It’s spread by bats and pigs and it kills with encephalitis. Coronavirus isn’t nearly as bad as this virus but it’s still scary yes but that’s only if you let it scare you. I cut myself off from the media I don’t watch the news everywhere and I’m putting it behind me. It’s only scary because people panic. Trust me if you just don’t worry about you’ll be better off. That’s what contagion should treat you after all nothin spreads faster than fear.

I've watched Contagion in 2011 in cinema. I liked this movie so much because of a lot of factors and one of these factors is its scary realism. Hell, even since I've watched it in 2011, Contagion is still one of my favourite movies ever. And yet... Back then, almost nine years ago, I've never realised that this film is going to be a prediction of our new reality. That's the scariest thing.

Scarier is the reality of epidemics and pandemics that have actually happened. E.coli, Swine Flu, Monkey Pox, West Nile virus, SARS, AIDS, MERS, Spanish Flu, Ebola, Mad Cow Disease, Malignant Strepticocca A(Flesh Eating virus); all of which had outbreaks during my lifetime. Yet the Trump administration did an internal study of the CDC's preparedness to deal with such an epidemic in February-August 2019 which determined that National readiness for a Corona like outbreak was insufficient.

Red Death from The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allen Poe. The story was adapted into a 1964 movie by Roger Coleman with Vincent Price back when he was adapting several Poe stories into movies.
