Shetland, Inspector Lewis, Morse, Midsomer Murders, Line of Duty….I could go on actually. British murder mystery shows are much better than American shows, in my opinion.

@@octopuss1918I'm English and I'll readily admit that American crime dramas/detective shows are far superior to English ones (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, Banshee, Tokyo Vice, True Detective and Sharp Objects to name a few). Luther is probably the best British detective show of recent years but it's still not a patch on The Wire, Tokyo Vice or True Detective.

Sherlock BBC’s series is the only tv series I have ever purchased on dvd. It’s the only tv series I’ve ever purchased besides XFiles. I loved Columbo, Monk, Murder She Wrote, Perry Mason, Magnum PI and Matlock as well but never purchased chased them. My husband bought me Moonlighting, which we both loved

First, I'm not sure there's ever been a better detective series than "True Detective" season 1. Bosch is my favorite continuing series (7 seasons and a spinoff) TV detective show.

@@mehdiremidi8632 The new episodes of Season 2 will begin streaming sometime in the fall of 2023. It was/is a very popular show on FreeVee, so I suspect a Season 3 is also going to happen.

@@wajj1842 i sure hope so ... i just discovered " southland " and i was loving the show until i found out that the show was stopped ... then i start bosch just to find that season 7 is the end... didnt even know about legacy until i finished the actual series .. so i was gonna be very angry if they stopped that too ...

@@mehdiremidi8632 Well, they did 7 seasons of Bosch, and that's a long time for any series. With Bosch Legacy we have to put up with commercials, but that means it should have a long run, because Amazon Prime is not just getting membership money, but also money from companies paying them to run commercials.

True detective story development and scenes and background music is mind blowing and far better than Sherlock .the intense heart melting and morbid activities of criminal just give a high pulse beat rate of detective show lovers . Twin peaks is also somehow like that if you like to watch a single crime story and investigation for longer duration and more no. of episodes.

Korean drama mouse is better than true detective .since last 5 years more than 10 mind blowing and intense heart throbbing serial murder mystery korean shows are produced .i watched all of them and compared with English -America shows and Korean were better and mouse was the best among them. Those who are just stuck to English shows should try 1. Mouse 2. Voice 3.signal 4.Tunnel 5. Beyond evil 6. Strangers from hell 7. Guest 8. 365 repeat the year 9. train 10. flower of evil 11. I've always enjoyed good detective stories, and many on this list. However, my newly discovered favorite is "Maigret"... which seems to me, the source writers continue to mine, copy, and reference for ideas.🎉

The killing and Broadchurch are underrated gems! I recommend everyone to watch these 2! I bet you will not regret. One of the finest detective shows I have seen, extremely gripping, extraordinary writing, brilliant performances and cinematography.

Broadchurch is only number 9??? How the hell? It should be at least number 3, if we compared to these series. I love True Detective and Sherlock, and those totally deserves to be in top 3, but I'm not sure how would I ranked them. These 3 series are so good.

Some times True Detective becomes so lenghty. Detectives spend entire life to solve. And at last they found only One who seems stupid but not like smart ass serial killer.

Here's my ranking and I definitely was a buff back in the 1970s.. I'm going to go ahead and count police stories and list them in order of my preference starting with number one Barnaby Jones then Columbo police story Hill Street Blues NYPD Blue The Rockford Files Hunter..... with the old soundtrack before they changed it around 2000.... Dragnet.... 1960s to early seventies. Adam-12 Hawaii Five-O.... The Original Classic only. Honorable mention TJ hooker😊

Try mouse which is korean tv series .your mind will be completely blown away .just watch till 17-18 episodes .end is amazing .don't see review or trailer where at the comments you will find spoilerd by audience .your definition of detective series will get changed completely.sherlock is amazing but mouse is different type and according to me it's far better than Sherlock
