Haha yeah, the Jar of Dirt scene was one of depp's best improvised lines that really was an accident. That's why some lines are best found on accident. I tried the same once in a theatre play when I was in high school. I fell during one rehearsal then, because the costume I wore was itchy with a cape dragging on the floor my foot caught one time. So I improvised the line close to how the Jar of Dirt was actually done. And my director then loved my improvise, so he added it to the script for the real thing. One way I learned from the improvise in the Jar of Dirt.

One of my favorite stories about the Alice in Wonderland tea party is when the Mad Hatter and the March Hare were fixing the White Rabbit's clock. In the recording studio, they forgot to turn off the mic and Jerry Colonna and Ed Wynn were improving lines to make the crew laugh, including the infamous line "Mustard? Well let's not be silly!" Walt Disney happened to be walking by and commented to the crew how that was funny and they should use it. The recording staff told him there was too much background noise and they weren't sure they could. He told them "That's not my problem. Figure it out." And they did. In fact, if you listen to that line in the movie, you can tell some editing was done to that particular sound clip.

Runner up? Gilbert Gottfried as Iago Not only was a TON of his dialogue allibbed but Amusing anecdote ready, Timmy? DEPLOY ANECDOTE!!! Apparently, in the scene when Iago is packing to escape, and uses the line 'should I take this picture? I dunno - I think I'm making a weird face...' - yeah, that part? Not only adlibbed BUT Love this part Robin Williams, who was waiting for his turn at the mic, happened to be in the soundbooth during the recording of that line - and his laughter was so raucous and insane after hearing Gottfried's adlib that they told JAFAR's actor to laugh in his take for the scene AND decided the ad-lib had to be kept just because Williams almost busted a gut laughing :P

So with Robin's part, you forgot to mention the vendor at the beginning of the movie. They basically put Robin in front of a table with some objects and just told him to play with them and with that result was the entire scene.
@Kaocyde
@Kaocyde 3 жыл бұрын
Robin was always that kind of actor. And scriptwriters early on learned "let Robin play". During his days of Mork and Mindy, arguably his breakout role in acting, the writers would stop writing full episodes worth of dialog and scenes and have blank areas simply labeled "Robin can go off here".

@@Kaocyde Probably the best, like the "zen-o-matic" from "Mork and Mindy" was how it essentially was reflected in; "combination hookah and coffeemaker, also makes julienned fries. Will not break, will not (taps on table, "boing")...it broke"

The fact that Johnny himself MADE Jack Sparrow his own. Even when he's out about in public, you can catch glimpses of him talking and acting like Jack. He even changes his accent from time to time. Goes to show that Disney made a super bad choice in sacking him.

The ice cream parlor was good, but I like the improv in Zootopia when Judy apologized to Nick. Ginnifer Goodwin actually started to break down when she said her lines, and Jason went along with it. When the directors heard the recording, they were thinking about redoing it, but the lead animator in charge of Judy told them that they shouldn't. She took the voice clip and did a quick animation showing that it could work. And that's what we hear in the movie
