Reminds me of a comic where an ex porn star gets a job as a gas station attendant, sticks the nozzle in and out of the gas tank a few times, then works it in and out of the tailpipe, then finally sprays the gasoline on the windshield.

As much as i love Bill Murray in Zombieland his prank on Columbus really was one of the dumbest decisions in the history of zombie movies. in fact that's one of the many reasons why it's one of my favorite scenes because i love how part of the joke is that Bill was partly responsible for his own death because you know that's what he gets for pulling a zombie related prank you be the zombie you get the shotgun. i mean sure Bill couldn't have known that Columbus had a shotgun until it was too late but still.

One bit of dialogue in that scene that I find to be a nice touch is when Bill is asked about any regrets of his, and one in particular he brings up is Garfield.

In Mrs. Doubtfire? Yes, I understand that that could’ve been a really bad decision… But he definitely improvised and saved it, thus earning him a spot on a TV show and getting his family back. That is a win in my book. Edit: RIP Mr. Williams. Sadly, Ken Block (Yes, him) died in a snowmobile accident. RIP to him as well.

I didn’t see Zoolander until 2011, I will tell ya one thing. There are so many quotes and hilarious scenes that still stuck with me. “A CENTER FOR ANTS!!!” Is a front runner of funniest quotes from that movie for sure.

I love how Legally Blonde is on this list, reminding audiences of how stupid Warner was when he dumped Elle. Now he has nothing but shame to show for it. Just goes to show that people's reactions to their breakup says a whole lot about their character...

Top 3 (In my opinion): 1. Freak Gasoline Accident 2. Mouthing off while being raptured 3. Shutting down the ghost containment unit Honestly, we should've looked at the ghostbusters decision better because the results of shutting down the ghost containment unit would've led to an apocalyptic world, and it was the government that made this stupid decision. But I've left it at number 3, just edging the zombie joke in Zombieland, despite its hilarious prank gone horribly wrong, because the top 2 are more iconic, funny and stupid, especially freak gasoline accident, with all of its comedy until an idiotic move blew everything up, literally!

The underlying hilarity of Dumb and Dumber that a lot of people seem to overlook, is that the real idiots are everyone Harry and Lloyd accidentally outsmart throughout the course of all the idiotic things they do.

Holy shnizzzle!!! I've watched the sequel numerous times. But, what you've just mentioned and revealed that the 2 buddies are not in fact the dumb individuals. Maaannn.. I was fooled big time! All along I thought it was the 2 who were complete idiots. Now you really got me thinking about how dumb the other characters are. I guess I can watch the movie again, this time I'm sure going to be in awe of the ingenious conduct the 2 buddies pull off!

That's just what makes it even more hilarious, that 2 complete morons keep accidentally outsmarting allegedly "smart" characters without even having any idea what they're doing. It's the same plot device that makes Beavis and Butt-Head so hilarious, the adults in the show and movies are the ones that keep consistently getting had by Beavis and Butt-Head, and they're just idiot teenagers trying to get laid and get nachos and watch music videos🤣

In _Mrs. Doubtfire,_ if only Daniel Hillard had saved Stuart, played by Pierce Brosnan, who would eventually play James Bond 007 in four movies, as himself, and not as Mrs. Doubtfire, Daniel would've been a Karma Houdini.

When you said comedies, some of these weren't even really comedies... I do wana rethink about Legally Blonde cause I never saw it as one, so that doesn't seem to be there 😐 Also where are actual comedies like Naked Gun, you had some of 00s or 10s and not too funny 🫤 Glad to see the Ghostbusters and Mrs. Doubtfire made this(the dumbest idea was not the double dinner but choosing to drink the same as his boss might have been) Hell, you could have put "Continue to drive" from Planes, Trains and Automobiles when John Candy didn't actually throw out the cigarette and it lands in the car's backseat

I think the worst decision in Mrs Doubtfire was not the double dinner (he didn't really have the choice) but the prank on Bond... I mean Stuart. Because it's when Daniel helps him that all falls apart.

Honorable Mention: *JUST GET OUT OF THE WAY! - Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery -That's right, the dumbest decision on the series doesn't come from Dr. Evil. It goes to that one guy that just stands there and screams "NOOOOOOOOOO!" 3 times before being flattened by a steam roller as opposed to, oh I dont know, GETTING OUT OF THE WAY! I mean COME ON, it's a very slow moving vehicle! Even the mentally ill aren't this stupid! Even Scott Evil would say that this guy makes his father look like a Nobel Prize Winner.

Ghostbusters spoiler: Walter Peck knew what he was doing. In the Ghostbusters video game for Xbox 360 and PS3 (which is basically Ghostbusters 3), it is revealed that Peck was a stooge for a secret cabal that was once formed by Evo Shandor. He was sent to prevent the heroes from stopping Shandor's plan.

not sure that some of these are necessarily dumb rather than just have consequences that couldn't be anticipated? also they're recent, or at least all in colour for a start; how many characters screwed up in black and white (not to mention in languages other than English or silently with captions)?

I beliebe the even bigger mistake in Ghostbusters, was to enrage Inspektor Peck to begin with. Had Peter Vankman been a little more forthcoming the whole tragedy would've been prevented.
