I've always remembered the dead grandma moment less for Fairplay pulling it off and more for Sandra not giving a shit one way or the other and going after him anyway. That moment solidified her as one of my all-time favorites.

I remember Sandra telling me during a fan meeting with other fans was that she never believed that Jon’s grandmother died because during the early days of the season, Jon said that his grandmother died. So when the loved ones’ visit came and Fairplay’s buddy said that the grandma died, she just thought how many grandma’s did this dude have? They were like flies that kept dying! Hahahah😂

Such an amazing season! I also liked when they were building up a buried treasure reward for several episodes and then when they actually found it it was ruined as well as Darrah's underrated immunity run.

God… Pearl islands is hilarious. So many weird moments and characters that just make the season. If numbers 1&2 aren’t the Grandma lie and the entirety of the marooning shopping, I riot Peridiam.

Favourite moment during the rewatch is Fairplays confessional after the fight between Sandra and Fairplay where he basically breaks down Sandras game and says she will never win. its even greater when you know she wins twice.

From a narrative standpoint, I think that Pearl Islands is a perfect season of Survivor. Everything about it just works so well.

I doubt many players have had a stronger start to the game than Sandra. By getting her tribe so much stuff, she basically guaranteed her safety for quite a while (and of course, not once did anyone ever vote for her.) Plus, SHE CAN GET LOUD TOO, WHAT THE FUCK!

This whole season has way too many moments for a Top 10. It is one of the greatest seasons of all time. One of my favorite moments was Osten vs the pelican. It was so adorable watching the pelican be friendly and Osten was just keeping his distance. Another one for me was definitely Fairplay's Dead Grandma lie. Like seriously, that lie has now become one of the most iconic moments of the show itself.

Definitely would love to see a video about all those honorable mentions! I loved the way you described Savage’s arc. Sandra is the Queen of Survivor, but Lill is definitely the Queen of that one final immunity challenge. Her performance was amazing! It’s a shame she was not asked to return; if she was allowed to play without the scout uniform I think she would have done better. She was a complicated character. Justice for Ostin- the first in a long line of castaways who would quit because they didn’t have any clothes to wear on the island and were sick as a dog. Wish he could have returned in Philippines instead of redacted! Would still love to see him get another shot and for the franchise to rewrite his legacy, because he is seen as a quitter but no one ever talks about the fact that he had parasites and no clothes and was sick and literally could have died without medical treatment. He should have been med-evaced by today’s standards.

I can't believe Fairplay saving himself at F4 didn't even get an honorable mention. Him starting that fight between Darrah and Lill turned him from on the chopping block to deciding which of them was going home.

Started survivor on this season because of legend sandra, didnt watch the show but knew of her and this was her first season

I said to myself let me check out if ol Peridiam did a Pearl Island video, one of my favorite seasons of all time. Well I stopped watching in 2013 b/c Life happens but I digress, LOL! Thank you! I came here to see what your top 10 was but you captured most of the Iconic moments. I was big into the messageboards during those days right after Thailand, I remember Rupert was absolutely reviled and hated by the messageboards I was like why do they hate this man, In fact my entire messageboard persona was that of a troll and people mistook me for Ryan Shoulders in disguise. LOL! My username was a play on Rupert and the theme of the Pearl Islands. 20 years later I finally understand why he and Lil were so polarizing. I love comedy which is which why I was curious if you would include one o my all-time throwaway moments by Andrew Savage. He referred to Rupert and Burton and Shawn as," "Grizzly Adams and the 2 horses." LMAO! Jeff Probst struck gold with this cast, the theme, the real savvy players like Sandra and Lil. Jon thought he was smart he didnt know shit. This game is about rolling with the dice like he said but in life he got played just like in the game. Sandra played the viewers, the producers, the other contestants, and kept her real opinions to herself. Best player to ever win the game. PERIOD. I love Russell, Boston Rob and big game strategists, but Sandra and Tony are street smart in real life. She said it best after her second win, her hubby fights for our country and she goes on game shows and wins the dough, then they eat Outback. Winner winner chicken dinner, baby. I will always love Sandra, Burton(so hot!), Jon, Rupert, Lil, Pelican Pete and that shopkeeper. They had a field day with her on the boards too.

I still think it's absolutely hilarious that the "Top Cast" section of the IMDB page for all of Survivor (not just this season) lists Jeff Probst as #1, Lill as #2, and Jonny Fairplay as #3. THEN you have Boston Rob, Parvati, and Sandra at 4, 5, and 6, and so on. It's perfect lmfao

It was my first Survivor season that I watched, and it's my most favorite until this day.

SPOILERS. 1. Yes, that marooning was very fun. 2. Rupert might still be my second-favourite ever. Next to Coach. 3. Hey, you know, the pelican just needs to show off that it's the boss. It's got the right. 4. This legit scared me when I was a kid. I thought he was going to snap his neck. 5. I'm just going to say it: I did not like this twist. A BIG twist does not necessarily a GOOD twist make. Mind you, nowadays, I wish they'd switch it up a little more. We're getting bored, people. 6. That day, a little part of me died. Sniffle. 7. It's odd that Sandra was considered a villain when she was so tight with the biggest hero of them all. Rupert outclasses Colby in that regard any day of the week. 8. LOL, he pretended to be such a jackass. Credit where it's due: it was a great move. 9. Don't leave smart people alone together. Seriously, we'll f*ck you up. 10. The queen stays queen. All the love.

These videos honestly make me a little sad sometimes about what we lost. I guess I still enjoy Survivor but these older seasons just feel so awesome. Just the first few seconds, every character is so robust, tall, muscled, worthy. Now when you see a cast its going to be old man, talks to 400 pound woman with nose ring, talks to 100 pound male from Thailand. Not to even say I am sexist the females are so amazing, Sandra, tough, sees through the fog, great liar, great with people. We got a Girl Scout leader 'Scout'. Real badass older lady. They didn't have muscles but you could tell they came to play. Challenges feel gritter, more about skill, more real, the antics are bolder, lying about your grandma. I miss when Survivor was about 39 days a sport played by physically fit and mentally fit people. Now a 51 year old can beat a 100 pound girl and a dopey Asian guy self admitted crappy at the game and its like okay well at least we got a diverse winner. I just want these days back AND have more diversity if its even possible.

Why did Fairplay start yelling at her like that she was having a conversation with him this whole season was kind of a s*** show everyone argued with everybody everyone got mad at everyone it was just people fighting all the time maybe that's why it's in my top five favorite seasons oh and I love the theme I think they should do this whole thing over again even giving them money to buy supplies at a village I want them to do the whole thing over including the outcast twist having them compete in a challenge and everything to see if somebody will get voted back in

I love talking about this but technically Rupert should’ve been kicked off the show as he broke the law stealing the other teams shoes meaning he should’ve been first off 🤔
