Amuro didn't become a master by UC0093, he became a monster. He shoots down aces like grunts, he fights superior MS to a draw, he beat the crap out of Char, and it only took him that long because he was trying to prevent a extinction event. By that point, he was also becoming a excellent leader and tactician.

As a sheer veteran, Amuro has over a decade of combat and piloting experience. Though, a lot of his time during the First Neon Zeon War was kinda offscreen after his Z Gundam appearance. (He even got his own custom Zeta Gundam variant too) Not to mention, Amuro designed his Nu Gundam too. (Not counting the the psycoframe Char stealth gave him) Natural talent or superpowers aside, few pilots can boast of a (confirmed)service record as lengthy as his... The One Year War(debut) The Gryps Conflict(re-enters the stage before going offscreen) First Neo Zeon War(offscreen) Second Neo Zeon War(All but stated final moment before dying whilst saving the planet and arguing with Char... over Lalah Sune... again) Also, Amuro has many issues... *especially where women are concerned.* ...Well, to be fair... Flit Asuno from Gundam Age served until he was a pissy old guy, but he still just isn't as badass as Amuro.

Chris as No.10? She's sweet and all, but she managed to get her Gundam destroyed by a Zaku, while Shiro defeated a Zaku with a Ball.

Domon Kasshu can actually kick away a building and catch ten bullets in a row. Definitly the strongest gundam pilot when not piloting a gundam. Kamille Bidan is probably the most powerful New Type since he can use life energy from dead people and become invincible. He can also freeze enemy's mobile suit (I've heard the version that the father of Gundam, Tomino Yoshiyuki, was intended to let Zeta Gundam destroy Earth as an end to the Gundam series). In Gundam ZZ Kamille sends energy from Earth to Judau in the space and fully charged ZZ Gundam. And at that time he was still recovering from the mind damage cuased by Scirocco. But I don't think his pilot skill is better than Char or Amuro. Regardless of power like New Type or Innovator, Graham Aker is perhaps the best pilot in Gundam 00. He can manually transform Flag (yes the transformation of Flag is not programmed). He also cut off an arm of Gundam Throne EINS with a Flag. Even Setsuna won't survive the fight against Gundam Thrones without Trans-AM. And I don't think Setsuna can beat Graham in Season 2 if he doesn't have a much more powerful MS-Gudam 00 Raiser or Innovator power. And Graham actually piolts Gundam Exia R3 after the battle with Els. So he finally becomes a Gundam pilot.

Heero Yuy piloted the Winged Gundam, Winged Zero, the Mercurius Gundam, Gundam Epyon and many more. He also mastered the mentally challenging "Zero system" installed in both Winged Zero and Epyon. Now why is he at #7 again??😑.....

Heero Yuy is my favourite for silly reasons. The dude is an outright monster! He almost indestructable, snaps bones back into place and heals in no time. He can withstand point blank esplosions and he is physically strong enough to bend metal with his bare hands.

Mikazuki is one of the best pilots simply because of his fighting style/ spirit just think he had near death experiences and kept fighting not only that but think of how many enemies he took out when the lupus rex was trashed he simply deserved a top 5 spot no questions asked.

I'd like to point out that Amuro is the best pilot officially, according to Sunrise and Tomino. It also makes sense, by the time you get to him in Chars Counterattack hes a sheer monster. Hes using a beat up old Re-GZ at the beginning of the movie (a shitty mass produced suit based on the zeta) and going up against the Jagd Doga and Sazabi, two insanely powerful newtype suits. He makes both suits retreat. When he finally gets the Nu Gundam, hes taking out massive mobile armors without even trying. Even without newtype hax, hes still a beast of a pilot.

Mikazuki is on my top 5 when he came out, Dude just doesn't give a fk and mows down everything in front of him.

I like Kinkedu aka Seabook Noar from crossbones Gundam. His skill surpassed his mobile suit in any conditions. He fought many strong opponents and managed to get the most out of the fight no matter how disadvantaged the situations were.

I love Amuro but Mikazuki from IBO deserved the #1 spot hands down. Other pilots have skills and/or bullshit space psychic powers, but no one else in the gundam franchise has what Mikazuki has: Pure, unadulterated aptitude for war and violence. The other pilots get in fights and they get addled with tons of overthinking, hesitations, caught feelings, and inner monologues. Mika has none of this and is a soldier stripped down to their barest, most barbaric and instinctual form, willing to sacrifice his own well-being just to get the upper hand in a fight, and totally without distraction. FFS the guy makes even the Zero system look like a half measure. Even if you were a gifted newtype and a skilled, heavily experienced pilot, facing off against someone like Mikazuki who will ABSOLUTELY do anything to win as quickly and efficiently as possible is a frightening prospect. He's proven time and again that he gives zero fucks about the lives of his opponents, or even the integrity of his own machine and body if it means victory. The moment someone like Amuro made a mistake and gave an opening, a pilot of Mika's skill level and fighting style would smash the dude's cockpit in.

I've always been of the opinion that Kira was secretly a psychotic lunatic. All his disabling of suits really amounts to is pilots that can come back and continue the conflict.

Eh....the problem with Iron Blood orphans is that there just arent as many solid enemy ace pilots. By the end of the series you dont feel like Mika got better so much as Barbatos got better....which isnt the case for most solid protagonist who you'd feel could still beat aces in a mirror match or a inferior machine.

I loved setsuna and mikazuki the most but everyone has their own taste so I won't complain. In fact, I appreciate that setsuna is on the list, number 2 even.
