The Town That Dreaded is based on real events. In fact, every year where it happened, they have a outdoor screening of the movie and the whole town shows up.

some titles not mentioned in the video but worth seeing: The Car (1977) Daughters of Darkness (1971) Equinox (1970) The Brood (1979) Day of the Animals (1977) It's Alive (1974) Don't Torture A Duckling (1972) The Wicker Man (1973) Martin (1976) Dawn of the Dead (1978) The Crazies (1973) In an earlier video Kylie ranks the remake high so this may disappoint. It still packs a punch Orca (1977) Alucarda (1977)

Awesome video. First of all, I love your straight hairstyle and your outfit. Second of all, you should definitely do a comparison of the 3 different versions of Black Christmas and see which one you think is supreme. Out of all the 1970s horror movies you've mentioned, my favorite horror films are Halloween, Alien, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Exorcist and Carrie. Such classics. By the way, one of the Goosebumps books called "Invasion of the Body Squeezers" is obviously inspired by "Invasion of the Body Snatchers".

Stepford has some really creepy moments. My top five- 1. Black Christmas 2. Halloween 3. Picnic at Hanging Rock (Don't think this is considered horror but the eeriness is great.) 4. The Haunting of Julia (or Full Circle) 5. Alien (masterpiece!)

Will you do an Alien franchise review and ranking? Halloween, Alien, Suspiria, Exorcist, The Omen are such obvious choices, but my favorite 70s horror/giallo outside of those in no order: House, Don't Torture a Duckling, The House with Laughing Windows, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, Messiah of Evil, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Phantasm, The Fifth Cord, Martin, Bay of Blood,Tourist Trap. I like a lot of 70s movies, but I do feel it's a bit of a disconnect, not as easy to enjoy. But when it clicks it CLICKS.

My Top 10 70s Horror movies: 10) - Piranha (1978) (The rare rip-off that's actually as fun as the original) 9) - Dawn of the Dead (1978) (Just a good zombie horror comedy movie by Romero himself) 8) - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) (A movie so effective your surprised it's all that bloody or violent) 7) - The Abominable Dr Phibes (1971) (The one where they started to phase Vincent Price out, except he stole the whole movie with no dialogue) 6) - Carrie (1976) (Sissy Spacek, that is all) 5) - The Incredible Melting Man (1977) (This is why Rick Baker is a practical effects legend) 4) - Blacula (1972) (It is a blaxploitation movie, but a good one. Among my favorite vampire movies) 3) - Salem's Lot (1979) (A slow burn to nightmares man, nightmares. Kurt Barlow is an underrated Stephen King antagonist and vampire.) 2) - Alien (1979) (I agree with Kyle, this movie is perfect. I love a slow burn.) 1) - Halloween (Michael is the scariest of all the slashers. The imperfections only add to the charm. Also Dr. Loomis. The Boogeyman tops them all).

I suspect you missed the point of The Exorcist, which seems clear and which the author and director have repeatedly stated: what saves Regan is self-sacrificial love. It's her mother's love for her daughter as she goes through one desperate and failed attempt after another until finally calling in priests; it's Father Merrin's love for God that has him wrestle with Pazuzu as far as he can until his body can take no more; and it's Father Carras' love for this girl that he's never even met that causes him to sacrifice his life for her's. In other words, the film and book demonstrate how it's the very central tenet of Christianity--love your neighbor as yourself; treat others as you'd want to be treated--that brings about salvation. We acts as the hands of God on this earth (or as the hands of the Devil).

Hello there! I wanna focus my remark on making reference to " The Texas Chainsaw Massacre " . The reason is simple.... I myself am not a fan ( per sei), gotta name the one starred by Daddario ( Alexandra), though. I applauded the ending to that piece of film; her breaking bad was somewhat unexpected , and oddly great to behold...After all, " it all runs in the family" . What would your idea for a truly eerie film be ? I wanna pick your brains as to this imagination- related question

You like Pirahna (1978)? That's where you saw the name Roger Corman, this movie started the mockbuster thing. Again I'll suggest Corman's, "Carnosaur (1993)" it probably won't make your top ten 90s horror list, but you love, "Jurassic Park (1993)" it's almost a must for a comparison.

Frank N. Furter isn't transgender. He's breaking gender roles, and yes, he's every evil stereotype...but he's not a woman, and he's very bisexual. And he represents sexual liberation, and a gay writer's very complicated feelings on the subject. Please give it another chance. And try to see it through the filter of subverting a 50's "beware the sinners" type movie. It really hit hard, growing up in a fundamentalist family where even a kiss before marriage was forbidden. And after some very mixed experiences in the BDSM community. Sometimes, it's not easy to find a happy medium.
@EnchantressOfAvalon
@EnchantressOfAvalon 9 ай бұрын
I just finished your video and I wanted to clear something up, since there seems to be some confusion. For the record, Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror is a transvestite, not a transgendered person, in fact his opening song literally states “I’m a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania”. Now, transsexual is the plant in the Transylvania galaxy where Frank comes from. Which leads to my next point, he’s not a human, he’s an alien who is a transvestite. By definition, a transvestite is a man who likes to dress in women’s clothing. A famous real life example of a cis gendered man who was a transvestite would be Ed Wood.

Mental how the shark at the end of Jaws is obvs mechanical, but you're so invested in the movie you completely block it out. Also found Black Christmas boring, so boring in fact I can't remember anything about it other than it was boring. Still rate The Omen, horror in the 70's rarely had a big budget, and the sound track! Noice. Still not a fan of the Exorcist though, no matter how many Nuns are bareknuckle boxing Satan, Exorcist 3 isn't bad though. And no Dawn of the Dead, everyone loves watching blue zombies doing the weekly shop don't they? Also Return of the Living Dead 1985 is worth a watch if you haven't already.

The Exorcist made it into your top 10? My work is done. 🤘 I know that you don’t like zombies, but Dawn Of The Dead is one of my favorites from the’70s.

Having this discussion the other day; which decade was better for horror 90s or 70s? I’m 90s leaning but that could just be nostalgia. Still the 70s had the truly BIG film moments like Exorcist or Texas Chainsaw or Halloween. I wonder what film geek census says?

The Wicker Man and Dawn Of The Dead should be on anybodies list. Also, please get around to watching Predator.

Great video as always. Now most people will probably pick Halloween, Carrie, TCM, Alien, Exorcist, ect. You know all the big names. But I'm going to shock some people and because Tis the Season Black Christmas 1974 is my pick of the 70's. It paved the way for other slashers like Halloween, Friday, ect. Billy is an excellent antagonist/killer, the cinematography is great, acting is on point, atmosphere is very creepy. I just love everything about this film. It truly is a Christmas horror Gem. But in close second is Halloween. Michael's ambiguous shapeless nature is very interesting to me.✌

don't watch the remake of TTTDS. the 76 version is loosely based on the true story....which NEVER should have put the comedy in it.

Wow, I hated The Exorcist too and brushed it off as Christian propaganda (much like The Conjuring films).. but your point of view makes me hate it less!

I love 70s horror and I love that Alien is on top here. Horror and Sci fi perfection. My favorites in no particular order would be: Alucarda (wonder what you would think of this one) Sisters Texas Chainsaw Massacre Stepford Wives (needs a blu ray release) Dawn of the Dead Suspiria (to me this made the 80s look. Movies never looked the same) Duel (still Spielberg's scariest film) The Wicker Man (me and my best friend love watching this every spring) Rabid Carrie Jaws Phantasm Don't Look Now Black Christmas The Exorcist Burnt Offerings Trilogy of Terror Vampyres The Sentinel Piranha Deliverance When a Stranger Calls Orca Alice Sweet Alice Grizzly Day of the Animals Let's Scare Jessica to Death The Food of the Gods (interesting one) Deep Red The Tenent (creep caution) Zombie A Bay of Blood Torso The Crazies Shock Waves Images... I'm sure there's more. I need to watch more british horror
