Top 10 worst neighborhoods in New York City. #1 was on HBO once. It was a documentary about prostitutes that work in a run-down area of New York City.
New York City is a great city. But, like most major cities in the United States, they have some neighborhoods you should avoid. That is what this list is all about. If you are planning to visit or move to New York City just make sure you do some research.
Do you need a local Realtor for the area you want to move to?
I have teamed up with HomeAndMoney.com to help you find one that suits your needs.

@diondavis6547
@diondavis6547 6 жыл бұрын
Justin Watson I don't think that means their stupid. NYC is a city that revolves around ambition. Maybe you're not a hard worker or not very ambitious. If that's the case yep you will struggle. I admit the cost of living is high but the opportunity to change your life and earn stupid amounts of money is also possible. Rent rates are complicated you have air bnb and gentrification that has sent rents through the roof. The "sex and city" phase is over so there is a mass exedus from Manhattan to the outer boroughs.

If you don’t no anything about the projects then you can’t tell anyone to stay away from them. I grew up in the Bronx and I grew up in the projects Iam now 53 when I grew up in the projects in the 60s thru the early late 80’s both of my parents worked my mom worked in a group home my father worked in a hospital. As parents of 7 children 4 boys 3 girls we all graduated high school and went to college. We had a great childhood stay out late with our friends playing games listening to music just having fun care free not having to worry about gun fire and gangs yes there were a few gangs but they were totally different they didn’t bother any of the parents And kids in our neighborhood. Things got bad I’m most of these projects once the crack error began in the early 90s. I moved from the projects back in the 90s I come back to visit because I have a brother who still lives there and a few friends and it’s gotten much better.

@@WorldAccordingToBriggs Numbers don't tell the truth either, they tell the story the person using the numbers want to tell. I don't think you have any education or training in criminal justice or criminology, and I don't think you know how to decipher crime statistics in a coherent manner. Anyone can look up crime statistics, it doesn't mean that they are able to understand them. For example, there are differences in how the FBI and say, the NYPD classify, organize, and do their crime reporting. That's just one thing. Other factors include not the number of certain crimes in an area (like Precinct # or ZIP code), net total crime numbers only mean something when a related topic is being discussed. Rates of crimes can be more important sometimes, rather than the sheer number. For example, saying "this neighborhood had 57 burglaries, 101 assaults, 8 rapes, and 3 murders" sounds like this neighborhood is really bad. But those are sheer numbers. If explained what those numbers mean, it would mean that in the neighborhood you're describing, for example, the population was 205,000 people, then those crime numbers are actually pretty good and the neighborhood is pretty safe. However, if you had those same crime numbers and the population was 80.000 people, then it's a totally different story, that neighborhood is significantly more dangerous that the 205,000 people neighborhood. Rates (per 100,000) usually have more definitive showcase the total number of crimes.

I used to live in NY. I lived in The Bronx. 187th Street. That area is Little Italy. The Belmont section of the Bronx. My building was on the corner of Southern Blvd and Fordham Rd. My area was fairly nice. We have drug dealers in that area. Prospect Ave Beaumont Ave Crotona Ave. Bathgate Ave. We did not have shooting that often. But when we did you know it. Now due to Gentrification. The area has become more expensive. Fordham University bought out a lot of those buildings over in that area. Creating housing for its students. Still, the drug dealers are not going to go anywhere. We know that students like getting their drugs. That's serious money for those guys over on all those blocks. But NYPD will be watching. .

My grandmother grew up in Hell's Kitchen when Irish gangs ruled. I wouldn't mind living in almost any of these areas except for mid-town. I've lived in every borough except Staten Island. The key to affording NY is to live cheaply in a "bad" neighborhood and work, shop, socialize, go to school elsewhere. If you must drive, buy a crummy car that just runs, otherwise, take the train, bus, Uber. While in your bad neighborhood, adopt a 1970's mind-set for security's sake. If you weren't around then, watch NY shows and movies of the era to get a feel for the edginess that's now gone.

Yes there is,just put up bars on your windows,order your food from PeaPod,etc. Get couple of guns,legal or not. Have heavy duty lock on your door,never go out at all.

I've been living in Manhattan for 20 years and I just gotta say, the scariest place I've ever experienced was Far Rockaway, Queens. Anything can happen there at any time, believe me.

F.Y.I : DUMBO stands for DOWN UNDER THE MANHATTAN BRIDGE OVERPASS. Chelsea is a great place to shop, work and eat.

DUMBO is still a silly name. You can tell somebody was working really hard to make this neighborhood an acronym... Up Over the Manhattan Bridge-- no, Down Over...

I just visited NYC, stayed on hells kitchen and I can say it is deff not a bad neighborhood. I can tell is gentrificatied. NYC is so old and big I can see how neighborhoods change. Nothing stays the same. But that's what makes NYC so interesting and unique. A big city like that will always have high crime no matter the era.
