Caleb didn't fall out or drown on Verrückt. The net stayed put and that was just as dangerous. The raft got low pressure air underneath it and essentially turned it into an airplane wing. Because the nets were built & positioned to prevent rafts or a guest from ever hitting the ground. They were installed directly overhead and the raft lifted enough to come into contact with the netting. Upon impact with one of the cross supports the net is attached to. He was tragically and unfortunately decapitated. The other 2 riders in the raft were also injured but ultimately survived. I can't even begin to imagine what they must have mentally gone through on that terrible day and the years since.

Sometimes the only thing a corporation pays attention to is loss of money. There is no incentive to fix problems if there are no consequences.

Let's be honest if you get hurt on a ride and they just say sorry the issue is probably not going to get fixed. It's only when the company is held monetarily that safety problems will get addressed.

"Why isn't sorry enough" I'm sorry I can't agree with Daz on this one. It's the exact mentality that mega companies have spent millions if not billions on marketing and legal teams to cultivate. No sorry is not enough to make up for the negligence of this business who makes huge profits causing me amd their other patrons bodily harm. As far as assigning a dollar ammount to trauma is tricky. But no I'm not accepting a "sorry" from a business that I paid money with causing injury. We all hate frivolous money hungry law suits, nobody is going to take the side of some one trying to sue because they stubbed their toe on a step or something. But we are too quick to assume every case like this is that. The woman who who sued McDonald's for the coffee that burned her got absolutely dragged up until very recently because everyone assumed she just got a small burn on some reasonably hot coffee. When in reality she was severely burned on her lap including her genitals, requiring skin grafts, because McDonald's served it's coffee at temps far exceeding what was safe for human consumption. She also only wanted her medical expenses covered, and attempted to handle it out of court & was only offered something like $800. She should have been a hero for the consumer, but she was labeled a money hungry idiot who doesn't know how to drink coffee. Fuck that "sorry" will never be enough. Oh I'm sure they mean that sorry from the bottom of their hearts as well lol. If one of your loved ones ever got injured by the negligence of a business I doubt sorry would cut it for you either.

You guys forget that a lot of times if you are injured in America the hospital bill can be tens of thousands of dollars if not more.. Seems like a good reason to need the money

Y’all should really look into Action Park in NJ. That place is a park full of death traps. And no, you take reasonable risks but these parks have a legal obligation to provide safety. That’s entirely on them. We aren’t talking about freak accidents. Several of these, esp. Action, are negligent and entirely responsible.

My “favorite” story about the cannonball loop at action park was when they had some of the employees testing it, some were falling from down on the inside of the loop, so they installed a mat. However, the the later had people coming off the slide with long scratches and lacerations on their bodies. Apparently, when they look at the mat, they found teeth stuck in it that had been ripped out of previous riders, and those teeth were then cutting those you scraped across them like a cheese grater made of human teeth.

The boy was unfortunately decapitated on the Schlitterbahn water slide when the raft when airborne.

The woman who was injured on the ride in Australia probably sustained those injuries from collisions with the riders who went after her. How'd you like to be stuck in a tunnel and know that at any second another person going over 30 miles an hour can come hurtling at you feet first? The parks don't pay attention to whether people make it down the slide.

There is a documentary on Action Park in NJ that is great. It's called Class Action Park and it shows how they came up with some of the dangerous rides.

I live in KC where the Schlitterbahn incident happened. The boy was decapitated and you could see the huge blood stain on the slide while driving by for months until they finally tore it down. Creepy af.

The ten year old boy that died hit one of braces holding the netting. He was fully decapitated and the two adult women he was put with were injured as well. Another sad part of it is his brother went down the slide just before he did and was waiting at the bottom for him to finish... so he witnessed the event. It's traumatizing enough to witness a stranger being decapitated, but to have it be your little brother, must of been horrifying. I don't even know them, but I think of that surviving brother often. Hope he's doing ok.

the reason the lawsuits are so large is because the park would have to pay for 1) loss of earning, 2) medical bills, which can be really expensive in the US, and 3) the cost for the accuser's lawyers in the trial, which seeing as how some of these cases can get dragged on for years does rack up to quite a bit

I remember when the news of the 10 year old dying at the waterpark happened. It was reported that he had been decapitated. Also the Atlantis is in the Bahamas not Dubai. It's a really beautiful resort.

One reason you have to sue in the US is we don't have free health care.... If you're injured because of their negligence should you pay for it?

It will make you reassess your statements about inherent danger at a water park being expected (that was their park owner's philosophy). And as far as lawsuits and settlements, some can definitely be excessive. However, I laughed a bit at your NHS coddled selves thinking about lost wages but not exorbitant medical bills. There's also something to be said about giant lawsuits acting as a deterrent for there being tons of Action Parks in the world and upholding a standard for when things cross into negligence.

They failed to mention at action park, on cannonball falls, the water at the end when they drop was so cold in some cases, that at least 1 person had a heart attack when they hit the water. No way the rider could account for that.

Dave only reason I could understand that high of a payout would be to cover med bills here in the U.S. 😅 I had spinal surgery that would have cost $80K+ had I not had insurance, and even then that didn't cover hospital stay or drugs. People definitely take advantage but I'm just thinking "well it was $80K for spinal fusion for just one herniated disc... how much for several?"

People have died at Action Park, they did a documentary about it. This is something you should react to because they stories about what happened there are insane. It was almost completely run by teenagers.

I used to go to Action Park New Jersey from NYC in the 80s. Back then the Alpine Slide was the killer. It wasn't a water slide. You went down cement track on a type of go cart. If someone bumped you, you'd go flying out of the cart and down the hill on the cement track. My sister and I left our skin all over the track. Took months to heal arms and legs. They had warning photos of skinless body parts posted everywhere as you waited your turn on the top of the hill. People lined up at the first aid office to get sprayed with rubbing alcohol. Blood curdling screams as you got sprayed down.

You are probably thinking of Schlitterbahn New Braunfels in Texas. I live in San Antonio about 20 minutes away. They have a park next door Schliterbahn too called Landa Park. Has a spring-fed water area. That water is frigid, though. Good in the 100 degree Texas sun in August! Almost lake sized with 3 pontoons spread out down the middle of it, from what I remember as a kid. Just cannonballing into it was the most efficient way. Once you're in the water is wonderful.

I've been on those NJ Action Park Rides. The first one isn't so bad except for one thing: The water you land in must be 38 degrees Fahrenheit. It's like getting stabbed by a thousand knives. There have been deaths due to heart attack/cardiac arrest. And the loop slide was absolutely insane. You were instructed to cross your feet and place both hands firmly against tour face, protecting you eyes, nose and mouth. I had a migraine headache after that one. Or probably a concussion

I generally think that the payouts are extreme too, but like mentioned if no consequences they wont care. Ive hurt myself on just basic water slides from cuts n burns(from a dry spot on the slide and speed) they’re fun but with just the wrong movement or someone not doing there job it can turn ugly fast.

Action park is also named Traction park. the park is in northern new jersey. the owner would hire teens to run the different rides at the park, and many times paid them with beer. they had a movie made of it couple years ago. I had gone there in the mid to late 80's, loved it!! the boy that died was decapitated when the raft hit the first hill and it went airborne, and the boy was shot higher and his head was taken off by the safety fence...

Action park is pretty infamous.

There have been zero injuries reported at Action Park since 2016. This is only bacause the Action Park name was retired and it is now called Mountain Creek. I suspect the number of reported injuries is related to the fact that the park is so close to NYC metro so you get a perfect storm of people who don't really know what constitutes and injury that are also looking for any reason to sue someone.

Schlitterbahn isn’t even open anymore. When they were building it you could tell from just driving by that they didn’t have a good grip on physics. The hill was too steep, and if there wasn’t enough weight on the raft it was 100% going airborne after going over the incline. And I gathered all that just by driving by as it was being built and having a basic understanding of physics. That poor boy was decapitated by one of the metal poles supporting the nets. It was tragic 😞

The problem with canonball slide at action park is not the drop as much its that the water is so cold that it takes your breath away when you hit it

A group of us frequented action park in the early '80s. Would drink a lot of beer in the parking lot first. Never left without battle scars but 'twas a lot of fun, especially w a good swerve on.

Action Park nicknamed Class Action Park, Accident Park, and Traction Park. There are 6 known deaths and countless injuries. They were notrious for poorly designed rides, staff who were under-trained, underage, and under the influence, and their ownership resorting to illegal money schemes to stay open.

I have a question for Das, on this one. If you get in an airplane, you know what you're getting into, and the possible dangers. When the pilot intentionally flies the plane into the side of a mountain, a simple "sorry" isn't enough. Getting in a car can be dangerous. If a business is offering a service, and someone legitimately gets hurt, the business needs to be punished. That's where lawsuits come into play. The Action Park in New Jersey was negligent with more than a couple of their rides. If you actually watch the video dedicated to the dangers of that park, you'll understand it better. If they advertise a service, and it includes being outside the laws that govern it, nobody deserves a "sorry".

Well gents...in America medical help can be VERY expensive! People sue for financial damages to cover their medical bills.

Noah's Ark is basically a right of passage for kids and teens growing up in Chicago and Wisconsin. Actually, it is the entire Town of The Wisconsin Dells that is the attraction. The entire Town is an Amusement Park. The Water Parks, Go Carts. Mini Golf, all of the rides, shops. Shows, etc... It is a pretty amazing place.

Yeah… not feeling your views on this video. It’s not always on the slide rider at fault. While they are taking a risk, they should ask so be doing so at the assurance that the rides are properly maintained and their safety is their priority. If it’s their own negligence then fine, but please don’t assume it’s for reasons like them just being overweight or just wanting a payout. And like others have said, it’s about making it financially hurt to these companies to actually get them to changes procedures and standards. Everything should be at your own risk…but only if the owners do their part in keeping the riders safe as well.

I was 10 when I went to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, Texas. It was the first uphill water coaster in the world I believe. I'm 35 now .. That was in 1996 - Crazy
