I like all your videos, so much improvisation on them. Not preparing all the hats in the front with all these added graphics like some youtubers could do. It is so lively like in real life, and I love how you know the store where all the hats are and really know what you are doing. I’d like to visit Kevin and see the store. 37 Hour drive. 2468.4 miles. 4hrs 48min flight. Airfare plus accommodations plus incidentals and some hats. Turns into a very expensive trip. Probably not going to happen. 👍🏻🤠

Funny I don't think anyone but hatters realize that the hats now are slimmed down compared to what was worn back in the day. Honestly I didn't know myself until I started watching your videos. Learning the history of fedoras plus seeing how much work is put into making them. Exspecialy watching the akurbra video. Really makes me respect my hats and wear with added confidence.

Kevin, thank you for a very enjoyable video. My favorite hat is the real "Boss of the Plains" Stetson as worn by Gary Cooper as Wild Bill Hickok in the movie "The Plainsman." It had a completely flat brim which was probably three-and-a-half inches wide with a small pencil curl, and a completely open crown (though not round but fairly flat on top with rounded edges) probably four-and-a-half inches tall. These are approximate measures as I have seen several different stated specs but these seem to be about the average of them. In most pre 1900 photos of the old West, the men wore the "Boss of the Plains." Wyatt Earp, Buffalo Bill, and Wild Bill Hickok all wore the hat though some had a wider brim than was usual. Most pictures show them with the hat well off the face but this probably had to do with photography's not being able to capture the details of a face in shadow back then.

The Homburg, I'd argue its most famous wearer would be Sir Winston Spencer Churchill. Soldier, journalist, historian, painter, bricklayer, and WW2 Prime Minister of Great Britain and the Empire. Who singlehandedly managed to keep the UK fighting Hitler when Europe had surrendered, and most politicians in the UK thought we should do as well. Not Sir W S Churchill. The Godfather ... was a film.

They’re a little softer and more flexible, the recent open road 6x has been extremely stiff, yet thin..I think that’s the reason why they made the Royal deluxe, the regular open road had gotten so stiff

Hi Kevin. Any suggestions for hats that either are developing or already have rips in the felt? Especially in the brim not the crown.

Usually from tugging the hat on too hard, u get worn thumb marks on felt,holes,tips.. usually a sign of too-tight fitting hat. Not much u can do to hide it, it it's in the back of the brim, u can reverse the hat,reshape it,remove the tiny bow from the sweatband, and then wear it backwards.. But if the tear is in the front or side of the brim, not much I can think of.. Trying to patch holes look even worse to me..

Every hat we sell starts at 55,cm other hats it’s called size,”small” but no problem, every hat comes in that size. The authentic, real deal hats u speak of cost around $210, the Stetson Temple in Mink is the authentic Indiana Jones, but we have a cheaper,crushable version called the Atlantic in brown for $110, turn the brims down all the way, it’s an Indiana Jones. The cheaper Atlantic model is slightly less authentic looking, but it’s rollable, it’ll fit in your coat pocket. The MJ hat u can get a black Stetson Whippet $210, flip the brim down in front only,and pull it by one ear, so that it’s worn on an extreme tilt,that’s the Micheal Jackson look. U can probably get a cheaper hat that’ll look similar, but not really..he wore expensive Italian custom hats, he had closets full of dozens, hundreds.. he collected many,many priceless vintage hats that were worn by celebrities like Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly,and stars from MGM musicals, I heard he had a couple of those that were his favorites, along with many other hats, he’s photographed in a different hat I’m almost every photo..

SRV’s hats are mostly Bolero styles..a dead flat brim and a flat crown, he wore a few gamblers and some westerns too, but his signature look was the bolero. Similar to what the flamenco dancers of Spain wear, and Zorro.. of course, is another famous example.

I would suggest “The Mercer” in black, or “The Saxon” by Stetson in black, they’re both similar.. and if u wanna go a little more economical, “The Blues Fedora” for something crushable,and less expensive, is an amazing hat, little lower crown, softer, it comes in S M L XL XXL and runs a bit big,that’s a great hat for that look. www.jjhatcenter.com

Space Catboy yeah, the Billy Jack look, u need to be here and try stuff on, u try the wide black on, then a dark grey one with a slightly shorter brim, Ikie the Lapin model from our website, it’s half price now too.. the big,black one is a little Amish, but u can mellow it with a cool hat band, or by lowering the crown a little.. let’s face it, any plain black hat with a big brim is gonna look like a Rabbi,preacher,pilgrim or undertaker..something like that.. it’s dramatic. But we could make it work if u were here in person

He wears all Stetson models, I’ve seen him wearing a lot of different hats, all Stetsons.I’ve seen him wearing the Stetson Shasta, and the Stetson Open Road but the others I cannot identify, they all look like Stetsons westerns though

That’s something like a coachman’s hat, (a.k.a. low Topper) but it’s a bit taller, it’s very similar to “The Mad Hatter” newyorkhatco.com/product/247 but it’s much nicer, basically a period Topper with a nice large brim..they’re all over the internet in beat up condition, and probably would be easy for. OST hat makers to make, assuming they had the right blocks

Yeah I should have said Billy Jack, Dylan's hat didn't have that super flat brim. This is the hat folks usually request. We sell it too,for $110! (native American beaded band comes separate) it's also the exact hat from the pro wrestling star, "The Undertaker"

Supposedly there were dozens of hats used on set, in various stages of filthiness, rumpled etc .. but after Lucas Film signed a contract with the another hat company,Dorfman Pacific, the name "Indiana Jones" could only be used on the Dorfman version. The I.Jones became known as the Temple instead, "Temple.. of Doom" etc

Uriel Armendariz usually about a 2 1/2” brim, teardrop crown. Tilted to one side when u wear it, the Stetson Whippet, or any classical fedora like this can work

I love the flat brims.I hate the trilby with the mean small brim.It doesn't work for me. My favourite is the Homburg or the Fedora with the stiff flat wide brim Or gambler/telescope with the flat top. You have can converted hats into ...amazing creations.I've tried Hmm ..Small changes with the kettle you can do at home.Anymore you will f~*k it up. Any major surgery leave to this guy.

Uriel Armendariz ok, it’s not easy to really describe, MJ wears a classic teardrop shape, low in back, high in front, I’m making this exact shape in this video, ironically,it’s my most viewed video, w 96,000 views, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ra5_jMtm0c2wYmw.html HOW TO MAKE A TEARDROP SHAPE so I guess other folks are interested in it too, this is old, from years ago, I’ll make another, more detailed video again when I get time,and I’ll title it something like,”how to make a Michael Jackson hat” so u won’t miss it, give me a little time, I know u are anxious😁 but I have other videos to upload first,but try I’ll get to your idea soon, it’s actually a great theme for a video.

I'm not sure I can do it, does the hat say,"100% fur felt"? Or "100% wool" on it anywhere?..it it is fur felt, I can make small, precise modifications in shape, ( like dropping the back lower)🤠 If it is fur felt, I can make improvements to the teardrop shape, which it already has.. make it sharper,& lower in back,higher in front.. Fur felt I'd like wet clay, u can shape it infinitely.. BUT.. if it's wool, I can't do it at all Wool doesn't really respond to this process, it does a tiny bit, but once u start altering the wool hats, it messes other parts up,as u fix one part . they never look the same, if u have a good shape, and it's wool felt, you're better off leaving it alone.. fur felt I can do it, I can hook u up Mailing info on our website,send with a note, instructions. .phone number,name,we charge u $14.50 to ship it back to you by UPS in a hat box,double boxed.. The Work is free. I can even video it for KZfaq 🤪

It is 100 fur felt but when I try to make it lower from the back and I put it on it makes it taller and it looks like its not on my head and it falls easy
