It's not just Milo X Kida that's underrated... The whole movie is highly underrated and I also think it can be classified as one of the "almost forgotten" Disney movies

Sailor Starmiya I agree that many people dont remember it that much, like treasure planet or the black cauldron, wich Are also good movies, wich just didnt do that well, when they came out, and therefor gets overshadowed by many other Disney movies.

I do not think it's that underrated. It's one of the only films of the 2000s that really did succeed and conquered a legion of fans, earning a lot of merchandise, and even spin-off series and movies. For me it receives the recognition it deserves for be a very good movie...

PRINCESS KIDA SHOULD BE AN OFFICIAL DISNEY PRINCESS. *PRINCESS KIDA SHOULD BE AN OFFICIAL DISNEY PRINCESS.* To this day, I still don't see why she isn't one. She not only fits all the qualifications, but she's so independent, powerful, and this was probably one of the first times we've seen a love between a two characters grow and develop without it being love on first sight. It was a friendship that became love, then marriage. She's the greatest princess Disney has ever created, yet she doesn't hold the honorary title of a Disney princess. Udder bullshit!

there is unfortunately one qualification she doesn't fit, a stupid one, and that's how much money the movie made. Because it didn't do well in the box office, Disney didn't make her an official princess. It's ridiculous and she really should be a Disney Princess.

I know that the whole money thing is probably a reason why she isn't considered a princess but I rewatch the movie and realized the reason why she hasn't been made a real princess because in the end of the movie she's not a princess she's a queen most of the Disney princesses at the end of their movies are still princesses

Nicole Smith but that's also a stupid reason, Mulan isn't even a princess, they added "heroic action" to the list of things that can make them an official princess. Meaning that being a "princess" in their movie isn't even a concrete rule, so why would becoming a queen be a problem? She was a princess before she was a queen after all.

Donika691 but even Mulan rarely ever shows up in Disney princess merch I've only seen her on one Disney princess poster and that was years ago and I occasionally see her as a doll I don't even think Disney knows all the rules it's either because they had a high and grossing movie or they're really popular then than that I think they just make up the rules of to go but basically bottom line I agree kida should be considered a Disney princess

that may be due to the fact that Mulan is almost 20 years old whereas Rapunzel and Flynn are one of the newer couples. and probably appeal to the younger audience more.

Also there relationship was never fully confirmed as a couple in the first one. It was in the second movie where they became engaged; back then they wouldn't have girlfriends/boyfriends. There were a lot of arranged marriages. And the second movie isn't as popular or as good as the first and it came out later.

I forgot about Pacha and Chicha from Emperor's New Groove. Their so cute and I love how Chicha is so sarcastic. My favorite on here is Hercules and Meg of course, they have a great dynamic and chemistry.

+Mercy aka Modeophobia, Ikr in school, we picked a Greek god/goddess to do a project on the project was to create an iPhone to resemble that god/goddess. My friend Vincent got Hercules, and it turns out, in his story Hera was a BITCH. She messed with Hercules' mind, which made Hercules kill his wife and k 19 children. Mythology is MESSED up

What's even more interesting about The Hunchback of Notre Dam is that even Frollo had fallen for Esmeralda. "Hellfire" was pretty much him singing about his lust for her. Imagine there was a time when Disney made a movie about religious hypocrisy that featured a creepy old dude singing his heart out about his boner and no one got offended/went on a crusade to cancel it for being *problematic™️*

well I doubt no one got offended, I'm sure there are people out there who did, but back then it wasn't made into such a big deal about people getting offended. I love it's dark themes, one of my favorite dark scenes was when fire poured out of the Notre Dame. It wasn't really what was expected of disney films and that's great.

I loved that you mentioned Kida and Milo, Esmeralda and Phoebus, Meg and Hercules but I really wished that you would've mentioned Taran and Eilonwy from the Black Cauldron. Now that movie is really underrated, if not forgotten.

What's so sad is this undeniable truth with Disney: Almost all of Disney's musicals get remembered while almost all of Disney's movies tend to be forgotten. I say musicals because a majority of Disney's 'movies' are actually classified as musicals (Though to be fair, The Hunchback of Notre Dam and Hercules are classified as musicals as well), and the reason they tend to be popular is because their songs appeal to the younger audience, which in turn leads to the older audience through catchy tunes- hence they're more watched and remembered because most children aren't interested in plot, but rather the music.

She can't be. she became a Queen at the end of the movie. one of the Rules to be an official princess is that they cant become Queen in the movie. Elsa is out too.

She meets the criteria to be a Disney princess. There are three criteria, which you have to meet AT LEAST one to be a Disney princess. 1) Must be born into royalty. Ex.; Rapunzel, Aurora, Snow White, Ariel 2) Must marry into royalty. Ex.; Cinderella, Belle 3) Must make a great act of heroism. Ex.; Mulan Many princesses only fit into one of these categories. But there are some, like Ariel, who fit into two. Kida fits into the first category, making her eligible to be a Disney princess. Only reason Disney hasn't made her official? Atlantis didn't bust box offices. Turned into a money issue.

One of the most underrated is Tiana and Naveen, the fact that they are not even mentioned here proves it. I will never understand why they are alwats forgotten like that, they must be my favorite Disney couple after Flynn and Rapunzel.

The Princess and the frog came out when traditional animation had been overthrown by digital animation (Toy Story, monsters Inc., Bug's life, and almost EVERYTHING since 2005), so that's easily one of the main reasons why it's so underrated, I think if it had been released in, say, 1999, it would have gotten much more credit.

Seriously. All the Disney musicals get too much fame while the Disney movies tend to be forgotten as the generations pass. It's so incredibly sad that the movies Disney makes with incredible plots get forgotten so easily because children aren't interested in a Disney film without singing.

warren byrne I'm commenting on the fact that most of Disney's movies are forgotten in favor of Disney's musicals. All of their 'movies' with singing and dancing are musicals- and they're more popular because Disney's actual movies lack songs.

Well yeah, if she were made an Official Disney Princess, chances are, the movie's popularity would have boomed and it would not have been underrated. But anyway, the whole movie was a treasure within itself, and that's definitely something.

Laura Savereide I also didnt think Mulan and shang was underrated, so thought Tarzan and Jane would be there instead(think they are a bit underrated) or those from treasure planet(dont remember their names).

I feel like she doesn't get as much credit as the other "top princesses" who are mostly European. Like some will include her but its not really a first. Its mostly like Cindy, Belle, Snow White, Aurora, Elsa, Ariel then they will tag Jasmine, Mulan, Tiana, Pocahontas, Rapunzel. Her story is not the typical damsel in distress so she isn't as popular..

esmeralda 's dance number is inspired by another dance number by demi moore around a pole in another disney production (for adults, touchtone or miramax or hollywood picthres, I don t remember, I saw it only once)

Honestly I feel they have more growth than Nala and Simba, considering Kovu was raised as cub to kill Simba in Scar’s name, but after he develops real feelings for Kiara he can’t do it. Not to mention he almost attacked Zira.

Great video! When I saw Phoebus and Esmeralda appear on the list, I broke into a beaming grin. They may be #2 on this list but they're definitely #1 on my list. Two underrated couples you forgot though. Bambi and Faline. The movie, Bambi, seems so under appreciated due to the fact that most people only remember it for the death of Bambi's mom. But there's SO much more to it than it's sadness. Bambi and Faline are such a cute couple, both starting out as playful, innocent fawns and growing into the king and queen of the forest. The other one is Tod and Vixey from The Fox and the Hound. This movie is a lot like Bambi and twice(maybe even more) as underrated. Like Bambi, people only seem to remember this movie for how sad it is. Can't they remember anything positive about it? I personally always thought Tod and Vixey were such a cute, innocent couple and found their romance to be very uplifting considering all the rough moments Tod had to go through, being blamed for what happened to Chief, being turned on by his best friend, and not exactly receiving the best welcome in the forest. So, yeah, I seriously think those movies AND couples deserve more appreciation than they get.

Capt. Amelia and Dr. Doppler from Treasure Planet deserve to be on this list, I'd say top 5. They both had their own strengths and weaknesses, and they truly supported and respected one another. Doppler wasn't seen as pathetic for being all brains and no brawn, and Amelia wasn't seen as the damsel just because she got injured. But I'm used to Treasure Planet as a whole being snubbed. 🙄

Robin hood and and maid Marian are my favourite by far. Both such charming and wonderfully lovable characters, believably falling in love over the span of years and finally uniting in a beautiful wedding. The film so wonderfully portrays a love that is happy and healthy, and watching them pine for eachother and share such a wholesomely mutually respecting love in those wonderfully romantic moments is so pine worthy. Such a good example of how wonderful love can be.

For some reason I never have been able to ship the captain and Esmerelda. I always wanted Quasimodo and her together because she was so kind to him and she was beautiful and that helped him feel confident. The captain just always made me mad when he was with her even though he is quite a good character alone. Also Milan and The captain are my favorite they always have been.

"Son of Zeus and Hera" Uh....actually Hera hated Hercules because he was the result of Zeus cheating on her with a human. Hera then tricked Hercules into killing his wife and children - which is why he had to undergo the 12 trials. Just sayin'.

I agree. In comparison to Pocahontas and John Smith, Milo can actually speak and read Atlantian, its so adorable seeing Kida make fun of his accent and she’s depending on him to read. Not to mention Kida’s dad actually admitted to once being part of the destruction of Atlantis because of how he tried using the crystal’s powers, unaware it wasn’t designed for war but to protect and give life. Not to mention Milo is actually the only Disney prince who isn’t buff or “handsome” but outsmarted Rourke by crystalizing him

I’m sorry but I don’t see how mulan & Shang as an Underrated couple. I mean sure they didn’t get enough time together in the first film after her identity was revealed, but in the sequel they got the chance to really understand each other & got married They respect one another despite being different & they treat each other as equals both in the battlefield & as a couple

I agree. The sequel is one of the best considering they’re the first couple aside Aladdin and Jasmine to actually have issues and work through things. I mean Shang even almost died protecting her and she was willing to marry a Mongolian prince to avoid war. Not to mention it was hilarious Mushu being the dragon of unity and marrying all the couples right there, though I was seriously bummed their actual wedding wasn’t shown

Honestly I'd put Mulan #1 and Atlantis #2. I loved the second movie where Mulan and Shang argued before they got ambushed, then when Shang was hanging off the bridge they instantly lost that anger, and instead, she started to feel fear, and then - sadness. It was epic, we get a glimpse of the good and the bad emotions, which makes it seem more realistic and makes us appreciate who and what we have.

Hercules and Meg's love story is unique. Cause almost all the love stories of Disney Princesses were just about a boy and girl met then they fall in love. Unlike Hercules, it shows that no matter how a person is scared to love again because of its heartbroken past, someone will come to heal and love him/her that anyone can relate in reality

To be fair, Pocahontas and John Smith didn’t end up together. I know the sequel doesn’t count, but it seriously sucks that Pocahontas had to be heartbroken because the REAL John Smith didn’t stay in the New World. Not to hate on Hercules and Meg, (this is just my opinion) I felt Hercules didn’t spend enough time with her to confidently say he can’t live without her. It’s largely because they don’t have as many scenes as other couples, similar to Esmerelda and Phoebus.

MULAN. ISN'T. UNDERRATED. Give me a break, she is an official Disney princess! Her and Li Shang are NOT underrated - which is exactly what this whole video is about! If you wanted to have them on the list, at most put her as an Honourable Mention, instead of a hilariously unique and painfully underappreciated couple like Felix and Calhoun, who happen to be the couple I came here for!
