While I'm excited for this set, I was really hoping for a bit more samurai tribal support. Don't get me wrong, the ones we got aren't bad, but I just find them a bit underwhelming. Nonetheless, I'm excited to build my Sisay, Weatherlight Captain legendary samurai tribal deck I've been brewing 😁

You're right, the white board wipes designs lately have been so good for different deck archetypes

I went to my prerelease last night, pulled some crazy stuff. From the actual Prerelease packs I pulled a Farewell, and two mythics. I ended up winning 5 packs for winning all my games, pulled the blue legendary land, another mythic foil, AND the freaking Ancient Tomb from The List

haha almost got "Eiganjo" correct! the first syllable "Ei" actually sounds like the vowel sound in the word "Hey". So you could say it like "Hey! Ganjo!" but no "H" sound at the front. or like the Fonz from Happy Days, like... "eeeeeeeey!!!! Ganjo!" cheers!

Got a foil Jin-Gitaxis and sold it immediately. I was still happy to see it, but not as happy as I was when I pulled Boseiju in the same box. Also pulled Lion Sash, Kodama, Atsushi, Tezzeret and some other good stuff. Would have loved to have seen the black dragon, Tamiyo and Otawara too, but you can't have it all.

With all the good cards we've been getting, this does beg a question. How do you pick which auto-includes to include when there's more auto-includes than cards you can put in a deck?

I'm currently making a deck list with ao just to see if I can win in one turn with him as the focal point. Here's the idea so far. Get any sac outlet (altars proffered) and ao on field. Then we can either play a clone, or put one of our many auras that say "when this creature dies, return it to the battlefield" on it. Then sac accordingly. Look through top seven, we are playing all the 0 rocks and suspend rocks as ao just grabs them for free. Put another clone, aura, or permanent on the field that allows us to go again (I currently have a list of 63 cards that can do this). Loop until you desire or are forced to stop. How to pay it off? That's what I'm trying to figure out outside of aristocrat payoffs. Altar of dementia can go pretty far, but idk if you'll win. Needs more work, but the idea is there!

As far as sponsors go, thats a pretty neat one. I know it's not practical to buy packs, but this set is one of those that I will disregard my gut and crack em. The hardest working guys in the community.

The lands are Auto includes in all decks from 1 color to 5 colors. The thing is that in 5 color decks you have to consider them as “spells” not “land” in your slots. So you have to see them as “land as bonus” Anything 3 cors and lower it’s a “land slot” card

It's nice that you acknowledge that Swift Reconfiguration has a home and isn't just an F. I do think people are overselling using it as a protection piece. It's a function, sure, but it's not something you'll use it for THAT often I think. Also, very interested to see Cobtainment Construct slot into discard/madness/wheel/cycle decks. Very crazy card.

It's getting to the point where I have to choose between which one of three lands to play for the turn: Boseiju, Bala Ged Recovery, or Khalni Ambush.

I got my pre-release today and got the legendary forest land, the ninja etched foil Kaito, and the regular Jin, I felt very lucky 🍀

My pitty pack for an awful pre release (for win loss ratio, not experience and fun) new Boseiju was in it. Made my night.

Went 3-0-1 in our sealed pre-release yesterday. Pulled the 4 Mana White Planeswaker Full Art and then opened a Boseju in the victory packs. This set felt absolutely amazing for sealed.

The best thing about the lands is you could have an Expedition Map just sitting around and then surprise tutor for one and channel is at any time. So glad they reprinted E. Map in double masters at common.

Funny how I like Swift Reconfiguration because i see it (besides the combo potential) as a clear that one relevant attacker/blocker but also a "save my effect"... On my Vega the Watcher deck the creatures i run i run for their effects, such as vega itself or archon ef emeria. Them having a body is cool, but if I can turn my hate-bear into a car in response to targeted removal im ok with it. It sets you up for a 2 for 1 but can also allow you to steer the wheel in other directions. (Bad pun is bad)

One of the jankier but neat things you can do with Junji is restart a Soulshift chain. Also I will go to bat for Kokusho; my default deck is Meren and there's a version I work on building sometimes that cares a lot about or outright wins through life gain depending on the configuration. Vito or Sanguine Bond makes having Kokusho hit the battlefield, get sacced, reanimated, and sacced again wins the game at instant speed I know Junji is kind of more versatile for just like any Black foodstuff, but it doesn't replace Kokusho where I love it most

Out of 3 Precons with my friends two of them had a Boseiju and a Foil Boseiju, basically paid for itself :P

I put beseju and Kodama in my Torens deck leaving me 7 basics… I almost feel this isn’t enough. I assume the trample and a 1-3 time swiuper ramp is still worth it- it’s takeoff the spot of either auger of autumn or welcoming vampire (edging to earrings vampire because of Hushbringer effect)

I love the small efficient 1/2 like the Chef. Decent card on 1, good on turn 6 if you need some draw, decent, efficient, love it

I picked up Ao and a bunch of Vehicle stuff for my Jor deck today...also got Junji, and a Reality Chip because it's got cool art (and it's a pretty cool card). I dig this set.

Went to a prerelease last night and managed to pull some decent stuff. I got a foil Tamiyo, the black legendary land, and Hinata. My roommate on the other hand managed to pull a foil Bosiju land. It was crazy

Will be getting Dockside to put in all my black decks. It's Vampiric Rites, swapping the lifegain for the ability to sac artifacts, AND it's on a body which is MUCH easier to recur^^

In my Setbooster box I pulled the G,R,B legendary lands, Atsushi, Goro Goro, farewell, both versions of Reality chip, lions sash, ogres helmet, Tezzeret, Raiyu, and a ton of foil alt arts from the common/uncommon pool. One of the BEST boxes I've cracked in a long time! This set is meeting up to its hype and WOTC treated me very well with my box this time! Put more of your cute Lil kitty cat in their! You should make a side bit where your kitty shares his favorite card from the set! Lol

You can enlightened tutor for dockside chef in black white tokens strategy. If you need a way to draw cards and don't have....I guess smothering tithe would be the go to card draw in those colors with that tutor.

I agree with these picks, as I also think they are going to make a great impact in Commander. Don't count out the March cycle this set has though. People love free spells so I'm speculating that those are going to see a ton of play too

Just picked up my pre-release kit! Best pulls we’re junji, lions sash, farewell and soul transfer as my promo. Only things I missed were tamiyo and the reality chip! My buddy got jin-Getaxis, may or may not be a little jelly. Edit: as I’m seeing it. I really feel like people are sleeping on the reality chip. At least in terms of my rootha/ galazeth deck Jin and reality chip are really strong.

Ruthless Technomancer can just combo with Dockside Extortionist. Dockside needs to create 6 or more Treasure on entry, and you need a sac outlet, but yeah infinite mana and dies triggers

Ao seems like a handy Dragon in White Weenies, which is a thing, very good Wipe insurance to run. Can be enough value to combo off with, it is for sure better than Kokusho, better CoCo is going to feel amazing if you can arrange to redo it a few times, a thing Mono-White can actually do. Farewell is pretty annoying, but if you run very little graveyard synergy yourself (or run ways to sac things to dodge the exile), it can blow up in your face, but it's a very strong 6 mana spell. I have to say, I'd hate to cut Tragic Arrogance for this, or Vanquish, but Farewell is a pile of versatility. I like the Channel Lands in the decks without too many colours, but they are undeniably powerful. I am peeved that 3 of them hose my cEDH deck a bit, at least people aren't going to Mystical Tutor for them. They play well with Field of the Dead as well, there aren't actually that many untapped lands that make coloured mana that don't come with a downside. I run some pain lands in my Field deck, I'd run the two of these that fit if I could, hopefully they'll go down a tad? Also, Field can handle a 2 colour mana base if it's got Green, you can fetch Snow basics, basics, and Wastes to generate 5 basic lands, you only need Field and 1 other non-basic and you're set. I can't believe the Eiganjo does 4 damage, it's a house of an effect in Commander, taking out a Kraum or even the dreaded Zur. Boseju is an uncounterable solution to Rule of Law, as is Otawara. None of this feels good for a Turbo Rule deck, it does remind me of Greater Auramancy being a card, which does protect Rule (and Zur if he's got a buff), but Rule into Auramancy into Copy Enchantment feels positively glacial.

Got everything in black i wanted from three prereleases, really good set for limited as well, fun games. Jin seems like a really common mythic, 1/4 prerelease packs seemed to have one.

Got a borderless alt art Bosedju in my Prerelease and that was maybe the best card I've ever pulled, so this is already a success for me. Kindly ignore my 2-2-1 record 😉

It's been 3 yrs since I won 3-0 in a prerelease. Yesterday I got 3-0 in 2 events. The first event promo I got a Kodama, it help me ramped and cast my big creatures to finish the game. Ramping 4 lands in one turn is not something you see in a prerelease. When the game ends I have atleast 10 lands, opponents at most 5-6 lands. Now in commander I want to see how it's gonna work in my enchantments and counters decks.

Really want an Avenger and West Tree on my battlefield. Tatyova approves.

What do you think of Containment Construct? Yes it's niche, but in the right deck it seems like it can be completely insane
