All I can think of is how good Oltec is in Osgir. I made two token copies of Combustible Gearhulk.. I cast a creature spell... new Gear Hulk.. repeat.

I’m *so* looking forward to everyone at the LGS griping about a quarter of the people being there to play sub-Turn-5 aggro and combo, as if the fifty Orzhov/Esper Removal-Piles doubling the effective Farewell-count at the table is in no wise responsible for that shift.

I play a Magnus the red spellslinger deck, that sword would be bananas for it. He flies so that provides the evasion. When he hits a player, you create a token creature. Then instance and sorceries I play are one less for each creature token on my battlefield. His only drawback is that when he gets removed the commander tax starts to get heavy. The sword would stop that

Was happy to see Forsaken Miner and Lively Dirge on the list, my favorite cards from OTJ. Im trying to build a casual commander deck with the Miner with no infinites, but it just goes infinite with a ham sandwich. And lively Dirge is great, especially with cards like Forsaken Miner/Gravecrawler etc; Entomb the recursive creature and reanimate two combo/value pieces? Yes please!

Final showdown being an instant and modal give it the nod for me as and prob going to get that third board whipe spot behind farewell and tragic arrogance. being able to wait until your opponent's EOT to cast so you can rebuild first is huge and the fact that sometimes you can just play its dress down mode is sweet.

Final Showdown is also Sunforger fetchable which could be fun in a Voltron deck for a free swing

honestly I'm pretty high on Requisition Raid in +1/+1 counter decks. 2W to destroy both an artifact and an enchantment (at sorcery speed unfortunately) is pretty nice, and putting a counter on your whole board for just 1 extra mana is great

I'm putting the Sword of Wealth and Power in my Judith, Carnage Connoisseur deck because it allows a means of protecting her from herself. Equip it onto Judith and I can fire off an Earthquake, or Blasphemous Act without her dying along with everything else. Your creatures can't be blocked if there are no other creature to block after all.

You could use Rakdos the Muscle or Judith, the Scourge Diva out of the command zone instead of Blood Artist; one less combo piece to find.

More interested in Final Showdown for the first ability (1W creatures lose all abilities until EOT). Good if you see a lot of hatebears in your meta and you want to disable them to win this turn, but if you swing and miss, they are turned on next turn to stop everyone else from winning. Great anti-stax tech.

I feel like dance of the tumbleweeds is going to sneakily become a staple, in budget decks It can get you an untapped land, or a tapped desert to fix your mana, or scavenger grounds, and in late game where most ramp would be a dead card, it offers a big creature

Add to that, if your deck is one that cares about committing crimes, all of the new lands that deal damage to target opponent are Deserts, and therefore valid targets. Ramps you And triggers crime bullshit

I feel like the Final Showdown slander mostly applies to non-rotating formats like commander. Imo it’s going to see a lot of use in Standard.

Aven interrupter is weird since its tax ability doesn’t work with its first ability as far as I can tell. Whenever someone casts a spell for free (such as a plotted card), they’re allowed to cast the spell without paying its mana cost, so the fact that it costs 2 more doesn’t matter - it gets cast regardless of its cost.

Doesn’t the sword protect against all instant or sorceries including cards that don’t target it. Like board wipes?

Protection does not prevent destruction effects, but rather targeting, blocking and damage. So it would protect against damage-based wraths (Chain Reaction, Blashphemous Act, Earthquake etc.), but not against destruction/exile wraths (Wrath of God, Damnation, Farewell etc.), sacrifice-based effects (Edicts etc.) or -X/-X based effects (Massacre, Blight Grenade, Biting Rain).

Insatiable Avarice also has the option of being Diabolic Tutor for 1 more, and also drawing 2 extra cards, but losing 3 life. Am I willing to pay 1 mana and 3 life to draw 2 cards? Yes. Yes I am.
