I collected all through the junk wax era myself.I seem to remember when the strike happened, I got upset and quite buying wax. Coming back so many years later.. This stuff is so much fun for me. I personally really like the flair cards along with the pinicle hit men. Great content!

What an AWESOME primer for the history of 90s parallels! GREAT video! You also properly classified Topps Tiffany cards as “not parallels” which should be noted and commended! 😂 I’m glad someone else out there shares my affinity for Dufex and the ‘94 / ‘95 Museum Collection cards! I always liked the ‘97 Score Showcase Artist Proofs - those had a wild wavy refractor like pattern, and the ‘97 Stadium Club Matrix cards with that shimmery “dot matrix” technology. But the best from ‘97 was the gold embossed deckle-edged / die cut refractor from ‘97 Finest. I mean, it’s tough to top the Essential Credentials from that year… but I believe them to have a more limited print run than the Essential Credentials, even if they’re not serial numbered. Awesome stuff!

Thank you so much Prof, really appreciate the compliments! Those embossed Finest with deckle edges are amazing looking cards. Finest started so well with 93, but 94-96 to me didn't push the envelope much, but they really turned it up a notch in 97 with those. I'll have to check out those Score...pretty sure I had stopped buying Score by 97, so likely missed them

Great review of 90s parallels! I pulled a 97 Ultra Platinum Medallion Sid Hernandez. Too bad it wasn't a star player, but cool nonetheless. Most of the sets covered were too premium for my wallet. I was more of a Collector's Choice kid. The idea of a gold signature parallel was so exciting!

Thank you, the one I pulled from that set was the 97 Platinum Medallion Ryne Sandberg...but I traded it early on for who knows what. That's what I love about parallels like 92 Leaf Gold and 94/95 Pinnacle Museum, great looking cards but still very accessible to anyone!

I didn’t know as much about 90’s junk wax past precious metal gems. Very informative! I’m an M’s fan born too late for Griffey but in time for Ichiro so I’ve usually focused on 2000’s and not the 90’s but this makes me want to check out more 90’s sets!

Very cool, the 90s are a great era in my opinion to check out especially for inserts and parallels. Especially for an M's fan, lots of good stuff with Griffey and Edgar and Randy plus others. I grew up in the Seattle area in the 90s....such an amazing time to be with that team (even though they never managed to win it all with all that talent 😫

Since you mentioned the desert shield cards, I'd also include the releases for the marlins and rockies inaugural year. Released only in set form like the Tiffany releases and in much smaller quantities

Agreed, I recorded this video with kind of a cut off 1991 and before and 1992 and after. Those sets were 1993, but when I was editing it was difficult to take those out and place them in the "early" part...it just didn't fit, so I left them where they were. But you're right, they would fit into the Tiffany type mold from a factory set instead of a true parallel

Great video, love the attention to Dufex and museum collection sets - i like to think of different eras/evolution of parallels and do think the Mini and Tiffany/Glossy sets are parallels but different distn than the pack inserted parallel era kicked off with Gold

The essential credentials from 97 have pretty much won that year long term as those are very expensive compared to other parallel sets from that year

When I was first filing out my ideas for this video, I assumed that Essentially Credentials would be my choice for 1997, but after researching more I just couldn't pass up Flair making the first 1 of 1 cards that I found. I wonder if the Flair Masterpiece would sell for more, but they just aren't on the market very often?
@richardbianco9674

@brutusonbaseball I would think so, although the commons probably don't. ECs have set builders still, whereas the 1 of 1s don't. Those are pretty much at the mercy of the collectors for that particular player. It's crazy to look back and see what sets are above the rest from a value standpoint. Those few years of essential credentials and the skybox premium star rubies are at the very top often worth 1000s even in lower mid grades. It's sad that the precious metal gems in baseball aren't nearly as popular as their basketball and football counterparts. But I'd call those the big 3 from that Era that still have massive hobby attention. I was like you more. I built the 92 leaf black set and those pinnacle museum collections myself. ( long before graded became this big thing and all were raw)
@brutusonbaseball

@@richardbianco9674 great point, no set builders for 1 of 1 type sets. So the common players won't draw much attention I really love looking back at my Museum Collection sets...
