I'm honestly surprised Laval Volcano Handmaiden isn't on this list. So here have an essay I feel like she deserves to be in the top 5 because not only is she from one of the most relevant Pyro type strategies of her time, but she's the reason Rekindling got limited. Handmaiden's ability allowed her to send all copies of herself from the deck to the graveyard along with another Rekindling target from the Laval archetype. Her effect was easy to setup with the spell Molten Conduction Field which Foolish Burial-ed 2 Lavals from the deck to the grave. That combo sets up 5 Rekindling targets in the grave with one spell card (3 level 1 tuners and 2 level 4 monsters) so it became relevant in a deck known as Laval Quasar. At the time Quasar was a win condition on his own so the deck was really powerful for stalling on cards like Battle Fader till it was able to combo into Quasar with Rekindling. In response Konami limited Rekindling to 1 which killed the deck until Soul Charge came out... then Soul Charge got put to 1 and it finally died for real. It hasn't re-surged since even though rekindling's unlimited now. Mainly because it's slow, disruptable, and Quasar is easy to out now plus being unplayable without Needlefiber...who's coming out soon. New Laval support please Konami... it's by far the coolest designed Pyro archetype and it needs some love. TLDR she's cute and caused Laval Quasar to be a thing so you should've put her on the list

I feel like Solar Flare Dragon could be in this list. Since if you can have two you block your opponents attacks and do 1000 of burn damage. In a fire burn deck(when it came out) it was pretty good

As someone who's first deck was a fire deck, I loved this video! Even though I built my deck badly (I had a blaze of destruction structure deck) and lost a ton of duels, I loved my fire cards. One monster I'd like to mention that was good imo back in the day was Solar Flare Dragon, as two of them in the field were not destructable by battle as they protected each other, not to mention the burn damage they did.

Your last statement about #1 feels like it could also apply to Danger Tsuchinoko, probably the best Reptile monster. It's not a great monster for being a reptile, it's part of a great archetype and happens to be a reptile.

Today, to bring back an old archetype to make it good, give it two things 1. Give it good support that fits is gimmick 2. Sense most decks have extra decks, give them a link monster

"Old school" Yugioh player here and Solar Flare Dragon was and will always be my favorite Yugioh. You got your ufo turtles, fox fires, some banish pyros, molten destruction, and to top it all off the triple solar flare dragons.

I feel like Laval Volcano Handmaiden could be on this list she was the key card in Laval Quaser decks (was meta at one point I believe) since 1 copy of Molten Conduction field could set up Rekindling plays by sending her.

Thestalos was used in Soul Control decks. Use Soul Exchange, sacrifice your opponents best monster, summon big beatstick, attack hand and maybe do damage as well.

To be fair, in Japan the Pyro-Type and Fire-Attribute are Flame-Type and Flame-Attribute respectively. The Japanese word used for both is "Honoo", which can translate to both Fire and Flame.

The picture for Tenkabito Shien is the commonly used depiction for Oda Nobunaga in Japanese media (excluding the genderbent one in Fate grand order). Oda Nobunaga was in the process of uniting japan when he was betrayed by his trusted retainer Akechi Mitsuhide and died in the temple of Honnoji when it was set ablaze. So the pyro tying and fire attribute for Tenkabito Shien is probably a reference to that.

I always thought the Tenkabito Shien card was a doppelganger to lure assassins, explaining the pyro typing and trap related effect.

Huh... I always thought that Tenkabito Shien was, well, a Warrior. I guess I never paid that much attention to his type. Pyro makes sense, but considering the Six Samurais, and the 3 other Shiens, I hope people would forgive me for that assumption.

My favorite Pyro was always Solar Flare Dragon. Three of those plus some Solem cards made my friends hate me. Ah, good times.

You missed a bit on Garnet. People used it with Masked Chameleon because it was 0 defense.

Konami, give Volcanics and Lavals support already!!!! As it stands, Volcanics are either a control build with Inspector Boarder or good combined with Shaddolls, and Lavals are good enough with Lightsworns

I like to think someone at Konami saw this video or ones like it and that's why Rush Duels have like 3-4 different Pyro themes with more undoubtedly on the way. It feels like more cards of the type have been printed in Rush Duels than in the last 2-3 years of Master Duels. I may be wrong, but it sure feels true.

Shien is Pyro-type because he's based on Oda Nobunaga, who is associated heavily with fire due to having burned down monastaries in one infamous battle. Presumably, the Shogun version is Warrior because he's a boss monster of a Warrior archetype and not a mostly solo dude.

This is Fan made archetype idea. It’s based around cycling through your extra deck to deal burn damage with their surprisingly summonable ace monster. The design would be similar to the chess pieces in Harry Potter and the philosophers stone. And they are very chess based in general. Main monsters: Clockwork pawn: lv 1 (0/0) You can remove this card from the graveyard to special summon one clockwork monster from your hand or deck. Clockwork knight: lv4 (1800/1000) once per turn you can discard one clockwork card from your hand then if you do draw one card. If this card is special summoned from the removed from play pile you can make this monster's Level becomes 7. Clockwork bishop: lv 3 tuner (1000/1000) Once perturn you can special summon one banished “clockwork” monster in atk mode. And if you do, it’s level can become 7 or 4. Clockwork rook: lv 4 (1600/700) If you special summon a clockwork monster from the extra deck you can special summon this card (from your hand). If this card is summoned you can special summon a clockwork monster from your graveyard, or banished zone, and if you do it’s Level becomes 4 and its effects are negated. I kinda expected to see hazy flame basiltrice. It's a bit hard to use, but the hazy flame archetype makes it fairly viable.

No one wants to mention Solar Flare Dragon basically having a reverse Marauding Captain effect for its own type (which ends up working the same way if you have two of them out at once), plus free burn damage just for existing? I might be a little behind on the current meta, but in my opinion, that's pretty good.

Raging flame sprite combined with twin swords of flashing light can be very overpowered, sad that it didn't make the list. Lets the card gain 2000 ATK per battle phase

Or lava golem x.x or any Pyro monster that have the same effect as marauding captain but for Pyro monster that also cause passive burn damage per turn, or the 1400 Pyro dragon that when destroyed by battle you can speacial summon any other Pyro monster with 1600 attack or less from your deck
