My dudes... I'm pretty sure bts, blackpink, etc, would not want their fans on here trying to make comparisons or complaints. That's embarrassing the fandom. The people in this list are well established and much older than the current wave. They need time to grow and mature. Age has a massive effect on wealth for very obvious reasons. Popularity isn't going to be the scale here. Age, diversification and business sense based on a foundation of a solid career are what this list really represents. Lets not embaarass our favorite groups, hmm?

It's crazy to see almost all of BIGBANG's members on the list... I'm sure all of them would be there if the other Insane member didn't do what he did... But yea BigBang's songs are still on my playlists today, along with IU's... Finkl damn Those old songs were great! People hate JYP, but he has a gift at finding people. It makes sense.. people nagging where's their bts, blackpink or other artist. Those artist only doing the works of idol who doesn't trying to involve themse into business or other types of works. Unlike idol here, they're successful and rich not becoz they're popular but they know how to usee their talent and expanding it. Ur bts, blackpink onlily receive the workd and make it done nicely.. they're not the one who created it or versatile their job from idol to act to modelling to go another country and successful as an actor there with high prestigious level like JAE jong then they open their own company expanding it. If u said ur idol are the influence.. that's meand they still not high level as gdragon.. who trending even he wore something in police station for his drug case?. Yaeh if you say so. I belive a) poeple don't have a clue how much BTS members earn (or has anyone disclosed their ad and brand ambassador revenews?) and B) they literally built Hybe. Maybe it was more important to them to put the money this way, than just put it on their accounts. At the end, money above a certain level doesn't make happy, so who really cares anyway. I want all the poeple to be happy, they all worked hard for it.

@@sc0ttishlass That's a good point except I wonder how much of the 250M is from actual idol work vs his JYP company - I suspect it's the latter that has brought him the huge bulk of his wealth. So all in all I wonder if this entire listing is quite relevant / accurate when tabled under 'idol" because several of the mentioned artists made their fortunes not from being music idols but from other ventures. I daresay if this entire video is reviewed strictly through a 'western lens' most of these artists would not be known for their idol work as contributing to wealth. Big Bang, and IU - yes - but the rest .....not thru their musical components.

Imagine Suga stop being an regular Idol and do just some performance once a every 3 years, developp his producer career and become the richest K-pop Idol. You would be the first one to chill and praised him. Yep it's pretty much the same thing for JYP you like it or not he is technicaly JYP is also a Kpop artist, so he is legit here. And why are you talking about western ? You know Korea and Korean did exist before BTS ? And of course in western media they also take in considération income that doesn't come only from music ! Imagine the vocal lines of BTS with few musc rights because they have very few crédits, without non musical income they would Lost at least half of their Income !

TOP only compose his own bar/rap verse So GDragon getting million $ doing nothing just from royalties as IU & JYP Taeyang not quite big outside Korea and Japan .. only GDragon had solo world tours So without extra business & endorsement, with money from music only it will be GDragon as IU & JYP hasn't held world tour yet, right ? IU & JYP are only big in Korea Having succesful SOLO world tours is indicator of pupularity, selling power worldwide and fans who are willing to spend money and travel to concerts He's not only selling normal albums, but also concert tickets, concert merch, also full Concert video albums after the tours Kim Jae Jeong from TVXQ is rich from investment .. he invested a lot in real estate .. musically I still think GDragon is the richest also PSY tho he's not quite worldwide beside Gangnam Style, but he accumulated that much from Korea only ... but he has decades earlier starting point tho cos he's an old senior artist than GDragon

You are missing out on so much good stuff. Just take the idols in this video ... check out IU - Tae acted in her latest video!!!, check out T.O.P. and GDragon - both rappers and producers and they made rap fun. Jae Yoong former TVXQ/DBSK member - beautiful voice, great actor!!! The list goes on and on. Even BTS gives you so many opportunities to check out their sunbaes, SHINHWA was my intro to KPop waaaay back - BTS did a cover on one of their biggest hits PERFECT MAN. Check them out!! Yes, BTS is good, but there were groups before them (their own idols) that created and still create great music and there will be groups that will follow their foot steps and go to even bigger success than BTS.

Second, no one said anything about more successful, but there are idols mentioned that are the sunbaes of BTS, they are the true OGs of KPop and KPop did not start with BTS, or the 4th gen bands that came out after them. Just being ARMY and only listening to BTS will limit your music discoveries.

BTS and thier blow up is a little newer while these stars on he list have been big in the industry for much longer (money grows). Alos diversification into fashion, solo music, big dramas and movues also adds to this wealth.

He got a suspended 10 month prison sentence for admitting that he smoked weed. WEED in his own home with a friend who ratted him out!! Just for comparison's sake, a known child molester was acquitted in SK because the children could not be trusted to say the truth. THIS is how SK court system works.

They do donations some are public some are not. In BTS you have members like J-Hope, Jin who made regular donations for years without communicate about it. At some point some linked bit not by them and they probably have donations that didn't become public because true generosity it's not something you do for your public image. Jungkook did one donation, did a Big ceremony, contacted the press. This kind of donationq seems calculate for public image for me. And when a celebrity ACT liké that I have doubt on the fact they made discrete donations overwise they just have to link them no need for a photo with a Big check. I prefer true generosity and an artist who give without running after publicity. G dragon made a Big deal about the 300 Millions he gave to fight drug because he wanted to Say fuck After hé was dragged by press and Netizen.
