I remember seeing Tina at Staples Center in Anaheim in 2000. Lionel Richie opened for her as she did for him in the past. It was a great show and although I'm not from Los Angeles, the Angelinos seemed especially vibrant, I would say almost proud to claim her as their own. The applause was thunderous and the whole place seemed to be like you were in another world or dimension.

The documentary had a beautiful ending of Tina accepting her life AS IT IS. People who are constantly being abused, verbally emotionally, and physically feel that way all the time. You're constantly being brought down by people who are supposed to love and protect you. Any of us who've been through that can relate. We feel we aren't allowed happiness love or peace. That's why when she let go and forgave those who did her wrong she allowed herself to live and be free. What really pisses me off is when people drag her past back. It's gone and it won't change so stop talking about it. Only fools reach for the past including the ones who keep asking about it after she's made peace with it

I was introduced to Tina's music by my mum, i watched the movie and it's true she is a fighter, she is strong not just in the fact tshe lived through the abuse but also had the strength not to allow the abuse to control who and what she would become. Liveing through an abusive relationship it takes a lot of will power and determination not to let it haunt you and dictate your life, so I fully understand what she said when the book and the movie and all the media atention surrounding her past kept waking it up in her mind. You fight hard to control the memories to stop them from running rampant in your present. So each interview would have caused her to start that battle all over again. Tina has earnt her time to rest to enjoy life she has given years of both joy and strenght to billions of people through her music and also proving that even living through your darkest days you can still find light and start again. I have to say her music will live on long after a lot of the stuff thats around now adays as her music comes with passion and convition behind it. not just a group of cute people thrown together to make music.

Black is beautiful but Tina is not a proud black woman. She doesn't even associate with black people or her own family. She is on record praising Europe while calling Africans lazy. It's not a coincidence that as her hair became lighter, her nose smaller, she moved to Europe, her accent changed and she's living in Switzerland with a German husband.

@@lylablueabdul5503 When some go through a trauma it is healing and helps to move on from it when you let your story be told to build up your own strength or to show someone else that is fighting with the problem that there can be a better outcome. Not because you want people to continually ask and pry for the information. After putting out there if people want to know about it watch the movie and read the book. I was just commenting on how to let a person embrace their growth away from something terrible and when you want to know about it, don't bring it back to them, go to the reference materials she left as legacy.😉👍 She will be missed.

I tell people that all the time. People say “just let that go.” Well then tell everyone else to stop bringing it back up. Once all that old stuff starts getting stirred up again, you’re going to keep thinking about it and it’s going to drag you to places you thought you left behind. Even if you achieve acceptance and forgiveness, it doesn’t change the fact that it happened. The trauma and the feelings never go away all together. They’re always in the background just waiting to find something that reminds you of all of that.

This documentary is phenomenal. Thinking about artists like her who know how to listen to instruments for their cues to sing after high intensity dancing for 5+ minutes is insane. She is the consummate performer and people undermine women so much and then laud Tina. Praise her and leave her alone ♥️

Tina should never be ashamed to tell her story. I think domestic abuse among black females was something they thought they had to endure. Tina showed that it happens to even the most famous celebrities. Yes, it was painful to bring up, but I think it inspired people to get out of toxic abusive relationships. She proved that you can start over again and find true happiness. God bless that woman. She deserves to be protected at all times.

I'm so glad to have grown up on Tina Turner. I remember her in the early 1960s (I was born in 1956) when she would come on TV shows such as Hollywood A-Go-Go, Hullabaloo, Shindig, The Ed Sullivan Show, Playboy After Dark, Soul Train, The Midnight Special, Hollywood Palace, Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, Cher, and ?who could forget, the 1966 movie "The Big TNT Show," and many, many more. And THAT was just in America. You can find many old Ike-&-Tina videos (film clippings) here on KZfaq of Tina (and Ike-&-Tina, with the Ikettes) performing throughout the world during the 1960s and 1970s. What a talent. What a career. What a woman! The 20th Century just would NOT have been the 20th Century without her. And let's not forget films like Soul to Soul and Gimme Shelter.

Yesterday we received the very news of Tina's passing. While I can understand that she did not want to dwell on her history with Ike, her story was an important story. It brought a face to a story that all too often lives in the shadows. She shone a light on abuse and for that I thank her. Rest in Peace fine lady!

Yes she's so amazing that she sung and danced around the issues that led to America having the highest violent crime rate drug alcohol dependency problem in the world. At the same time the lowest standards of quality pertaining to our air water foods landscapes working living environment everyday products so forth and so on. You want her to rest in peace but yet no American parent or child has peace of mind because they live in a country that has more school mass shootings than anywhere else in the world.

Tina I hope you did know how much you are loved by many people different races, sexuality, religions everyone some how found something in you that gave them hope. For me it was your undying willingness to never quit. You could have simply retired after Ike. But you chose to rebuild yourself and out of that became even better and bigger. You taught men, women and children to dance, sing and never settle. I was lucky enough to see her in concert still my favorite show ever!!! I hope you rest in peace. You were such a inspiration and I will cherish all my memories I have of you. Thank Ms. Turner. ❤🦋
