I've been known to put soy sauce on my oatmeal. When I worked at Hitachi, one of the Japanese engineers saw me in the cafeteria one morning, putting soy sauce on my oatmeal and said "Nice!" and gave me a thumbs-up

As someone who is part Japanese, soy sauce and eggs make sense.

Some of these combos sound really inventive. But the pickles with peanut butter lady has got to be pregnant! 😂

I draw the line at ketchup on sushi.

A friend of mine goes to a restaurant where they have a mushroom patty option. He gets that on top of his cheeseburger. I think because he loves mushrooms that much. His go-to pizza is pepperoni & mushroom.

When I was a teenager I worked as a waitress. An elderly lady asked me to serve her some cottage cheese and grapefruit with French dressing and suggested I try it sometime. I’m here to tell you-it’s delicious! I can’t get Wishbone Sweet and Tangy French dressing anymore but Ken’s is really good. I also start with a sizable bed of leaf lettuce and add some thinly sliced avocado around the top. 😋

My mother lives is regular scrambled eggs, toasted with butter, and a side of dill pickles. I prefer a side of sliced tomatoes, or some refried beans.

I actually get the egg with "peanut butter" one... I guess my guy use it to substitute peanut sauce. A fried Egg atop Peanut sauce (sometimes grinded with some chilli) on some pan fried tofu, Bean sprouts, and vermicelli noodles plus some prawn or garlic crackers is just Indonesian dish "Ketoprak". Also in conjunction with Soy sauce and egg because people also add sweet soy sauce to it Egg with peanut butter is still weird though

Balsamic has been trendy for at least a dozen years or so. I happen to love it and put it on a variety of items. Some of these have heard and or seen. Excellent list!

Pasta with butter and sugar or bread with butter and sugar used to be my favorite desert as a child.

As a matter of fact, during the late medieval era and the Renaissance it was very normal in Italy to have pasta for dessert or in sweet dishes! After all, pasta is a neutral dough so just like bread you can add savory or sweet to it and it will work great nevertheless!!!

100% standing behind cereal with orange juice. Goes well with the sugary cereals; thinga like cinnamon grahams and apple jacks are my fave. Also like with bran flakes and dried fruit. Strains the pulp so the first few mouthfuls are extra fruity :)

That 1st one - at my old diner we would call that a "cloud egg" We would beat the whites stiff, put the yolks on top and steam it right quick before serving. "PS plating onto a HOT plate helps alot, no matter what the waitresses cry about"

Tuna and ketchup go so well together - I make a mean tuna noodle casserole, it is better with the ketchup! So, I can see the sushi one for sure.

The ketchup and the sushi I could never buy a few drops of Japanese shoyu soy sauce on eggs-especially fried eggs basted in butter-so taste really good. Melted butter and soy sauce is actually really good on baked potatoes too

Cereal and juice is actually not unusual in my country or at least in my family. It brings variety and more taste to the bowl. For context, I was allergic to milk when I was old enough to start eating cereal and vegan milk wasn't an option, so we used all kinds of juice.

I accidentally discovered the strange but delicious flavor profile of ripe cantaloupe with fresh toasted walnuts 👌

When I was young, I loved to eat potted meat and apple butter sandwiches.

My sons put syrup on just about everything they ate. Not just waffles or pancakes. They did with hamburgers, beef stew, ham, cereal, bananas, etc. You name it, they probably did it.

I've known a couple of people who eat peanut butter and sliced onion sammies. I like peanut butter, jelly/jam, banana, and bacon sammie myself. We eat some weird stuff in the south. I think we're not alone.

Soy sauce in eggs is a great combo. I use Dale's Seasoning (which is basically a soy sauce nudged just a little toward a more complex taste), and it is fantastic.

I don’t know about just balsamic vinegar but a balsamic reduction would be bomb on vanilla ice cream! Eggs on toast with soy sauce sounds so good too lol

I think probably my oddest food combos I enjoy are toast with Miracle Whip and grated parmigiana (a result of being a kid who wanted toast but was out of butter so looked for other things to put on it), and vanilla ice cream with anis and celery seeds (again the creation of a kid bored with plain ice cream and free access to the spice rack). I usually drink my coffee with, milk, sugar and some cinnamon. Others go to Starbucks for that. But Ketchup on sushi? Thats a no go right there. Its always wasabi remoulade for me.

A really good glaze for freshly cooked peas is made of pineapple juice, smooth peanut butter, and prepared mustard. You have to alternately microwave and stir it to make it come together, but it's worth it. You can sprinkle some chopped peanuts on top if you like the crunch.

Deserts in my house growing up was buttermilk thicke lightly ned with flour. When sufficiently cooled, add Roger's Golden Syrup to taste. Or put cold rice or spaghetti in a bowl, add milk sprinkle with sugar. After 4 strokes, my brain no longer processes the sugar molecule as tasting sweet, only bitter. I'm heartbroken that I can no longer indulge in my childhood memories in a bowl.

Get a NOS energy drink, add some Tapatio hot sauce to it. Mix it and drink. The mango flavors in the NOS pair well with the hot sauce. Gives your drink a little kick, while your drink gives you a little kick. I had a habanero mango energy drink in California that inspired this. A little Tapatio is also good mixed into some passion orange guava juice. The balsamic... the thing about balsamic vinegar on vanilla ice cream is that they both need to be good... aged balsamic is has a very syrupy viscosity and a bit of sweetness with lighter acidity than younger, more common balsamic. It works well on some high quality, high fat vanilla ice cream. It'll work on more basic vanilla ice cream, but if you're going to spend that much on some aged balsamic, why would you want to waste it on mediocre ice cream? Just fork up the few extra dollars on something nicer and enjoy the experience. Also, ketchup, much like hot sauce, can be put on about ANYTHING... and it will probably work. But people should be reminded that doesn't mean that it SHOULD be put on everything. Act accordingly.

I think I'll try the eggs with the soy sauce. Egg drop soup has eggs and I sometimes put Soy sauce in it. I'll suggest the Spaghetti and powdered sugar to my daughter for the next time she makes it for the grandkids.
