Man really, Alain vs Leon was one of the worst ever. Everything was a 1 or 2 hit KO. We didn't get to see Alains strong Champion team including 2 pseudo legendaries and Alain's charizard just lost to a dragon rage. A charizard who took down a zygarde , battled primal groudon and kyogre, took down 10 megas and ash greninja of course. Making it all even worse we didn't see the iconic "BLAST BURN" .

I think we all know that Alain losing to Leon was disappointing and rushed. That was stupid bc it only took up half the episode. Cause the other half was filled with a pointless battle that could’ve been Alain and Leon. It would’ve been great if Alain actually put up a fight.

Honestly surprised Ash vs Tobias wasn’t on here as it felt like Tobias came out of nowhere with his (probably) full team of legendaries specifically to stop Ash from winning the league

You know I get Ash was a pretty strong trainer at the end of Sinnoh so they wanted to dial him back for Unova. But it’s a shame they had to do it so horribly in Unova, the region had so much potential. The games are some of the best. It’s a shame it was dragged down by Ash himself.

You should do a video like Top 10 Most Undeserved Wins In The Pokemon Anime. Heck, MOST of the entries could come from May's Skitty in the Advanced Series because that adorable little kitty got SO MANY ridiculous contest wins like hitting a Dusclops with Doubleslap and the random B.S. of Assist. *Same could be said about her Eevee (newly hatched) beating Brock's Marshstomp in a contest final round... Shoot, Misty's Psyduck is another example with how this girl would literally abuse her duck just to use its hidden power YEARS before people would call Paul a jerk for how he raised his Pokemon.

I love how literally none of these battles are from D&P or X&Y. That just says how good they are at not BS-ing.

Eh, I don't think "Aim for the Horn" is the worst, but it certainly is the most cheapest. For some reason the Writers wanted Pikachu to battle a Rhydon, but didn't know how it could win so they made up a weakness so Pikachu could win.

If they truly wanted to reset Ash for the next season, just have him win the Sinnoh league, say he’s going to go on more adventures and have Unova have a completely new Pokémon trainer, maybe you could have Ash come back every other seasons and maybe join some kind of higher tier league that requires previous victory proof to enter? But the way they are going about it is so bad.

100% agree with you on Alain vs Leon. We all knew what the outcome would be, but the battle wasn't worth the build up. Hope the rest of the Masters Tournament will go more smoothly.

To be honest I literally can't accept Alain being back just to be annihilated by Leon, despite not liking him Like why? Why can't they just bring back another character like Tobias? I don't think Alain should even be in the Masters 8, let alone top 6. His role could potentially be to help Ash train to beat Leon, but there's literally no need to make him one of the masters 8 for that.

Here are some I think could've made the list for WORST anime battles: -Ash vs. Hau: they did Hau so dirty. I don't know what was worse the way he lost or his own grandpa reversing the victory. This is up there with your Number 10 because Hau goes disrespected just like Alain... -Dawn vs. Jessie (I forgot her contest persona in Sinnoh; Jessielina???) in the Sinnoh Grand Festival: Jessie actually worked hard to WIN her contest ribbons. Instead of giving her an amazing battle in the Grand Festival Semi-Finals, it was just a random montage with her eventually losing to Dawn. The ONLY ribbons SHE didn't win herself were the ones James won because Jessie was sick and he dressed up like her and Dawn's doppelganger with the Togekiss who entered the contest and won only to give Jessie the 5th ribbon she needed to make it to the Grand Festival. Um, didn't know that was legal but ok... -Just about any battle where a trainer's Pokemon (usually a Character of the Day) has a full move set of NOTHING but moves of the same type -Ash vs. Wattson 'rematch' where his Manetric beat Torkoal with a Charge/Thunder Wave combo...come on why not say it just used Shock Wave?

I agree about the battle with Tripp but what kind of hacker was he to get a level 5 Snivy with leaf storm?!? Lol probably had its hidden ability too.

In my opinion, Ash vs Elesa is at the top 3. Even Pikachu saw how incredibly stupid Ash was in this battle! You don’t just bring 1 Pokémon to a 3 vs 3 battle!

I mostly agree, but Ash vs Cameron and Ash vs Roxie should've been here, and minimum they needed honorable mentions.

Ash vs. Cameron is the battle that really deserves to be at Number 1. Cameron only brought 5 Pokemon to a Full Battle, thought that a Ferrothorn could beat a Pignite and that a Swanna could beat a Pikachu, and only won because Riolu evolved at the last second, which is the Pokemon Anime equivalent of going Super Saiyan.

The first battle between Ash and Trip will forever be the worst in my opinion

the trip thing annoys me not just cause its a bogus first battle, its that ash loses to trip over and over and over again until the league and its so forced. Yet trip loses to cilan iris and I think even bianca but can't lose to ash even when there is a type advantage in ash's favor. The writers wanted unova to be a reset and yet wanted trip to embody the "new paul" role and it DIDN'T work

What I did not like about Leon vs Alain were the pokemon Alain used. It did not feel like Chesnaught and Malamar were the best he had. I've seen him use actually great pokemon like Weavile, Tyranitar, Bisharp and Metagross. Where were those?!

Honestly I never ever wanted a rematch between Ash and Alain. He lost fair and square and never needed this rematch to prove himself. If he was to have a rematch it would be against Ritchie. Ash had other Pokémon he could’ve used. Bulbasaur, and whatever else he had as an extra reserve.

Ok here’s the explanation for thunder armor. It’s actually swellow getting paralyzed by pikachu’s thunderbolt and guts is activated.

As a kid going from the Sinnoh league to Unova watching pikachu get violated, it made me not want to watch the black and white anime AT ALL. 💀

For tate and liza battle ash got the paralysis on swellow and swellow had guts double or 1.5x attack bonus i forgot and swellow was a strong enough to ignore light screen

I didn't like the Ash vs. Sabrina fight particually the second one. The pacing kept getting broken because of how trollish Haunter was being (half the episode was Ash trying to find it) and Ash won at the end because....Haunter made Sabrina laugh. Haunter had no association with Ash and was doing things on it's own accord, but when it got Sabrina and her Kadabra laughing, Sabrina's father decided to declare Ash the winner. I always try to block that battle from my mind. The only saving grace was that the Haunter was pretty funny

What if they have Ritchie show up to cheer on ash in the finals? Like the winter high finals in Kuroko no basuke (any Kuroko fans)

Hm, interesting, fair and valid points and opinions, though i feel like Ash vs Trip would probably fit better as a Dishonorable Mentioned at least, rather than having it be one of the worst.

You mentioning Richie made me think of what his team could be now if they brought him back in. Personally, I would want him to have continued his journey but never really started over per region like Ash did, just adding strong Pokemon to his roster as he goes. So, I'm thinking: Pikachu, Charizard, Tyranitar, Golurk, Purrzerker, and Flapple/Appletun (whichever the writers want). It's the anime so it doesn't have to be the best when it comes to coverage, but I think this would be a fun to see this team with Ritchie.

Another thing that annoys me about the Ash VS Ritchie battle is the fact that Charizard disobeyed Ash even though he has all 8 Gym Badges. In the games, having all 8 badges makes it so all traded Pokemon obey.

The Leon vs Alain battle should have had its own episode like it seems the other M8 battles are going to have. Like, yeah, we all knew Alain was going to lose, but the way they did it was so rushed, especially with Aegislash and Charizard going down in a similar way. A fair amount of these being Gen5 tho, the Unova anime really did drop the ball.

I remember watching the first season of the anime, at least until the episode against Brock. I stopped because that battle made no sense at all. Which leaves me say I have no idea what the 'aim for the horn' thing is all about but I can believe it happened.

Honestly Ash was done dirty in Unova period Ik people are wondering where Tobias VS Ash is I would of ranked it in the Lower half like the highest being 6 did it suck yeah’ but it was quite clear he was gonna be the winner having a team full of mythicals it’s like he action replay the thing. They kept referring to him as the Darkrai trainer plus they also implied an ominous feeling around him. I would Say Ash versus Cameron is in the top 5 for sure because having a Pokémon evolve to win for a champion league battle come on. Also I like to nominate Ash VS Tyson honestly Tyson doesn’t make a strong impression and to win with a meowth a Pokémon Ash has beaten a plethora of times that just seem like insult to injury. It would be another matter if he lost to Metagross a pseudo legendary but to a meowth that can use electric type attacks and iron tail nah that’s BS if you asked me. I grew up watching the Hoenn series I would say the battle frontier was better overall. It would be even better if they scrapped Max so Mays moments were more meaningful like he commentated about everything she did including contest battles.

Ash tries to return the badge and seek a fair battle with Watson but is denied by Watson because he deems Ash worthy of the badge after seeing the bonds with his Pokémon to beat Team Rocket in that episode. While I kind of do want Ash and Alain to have that rematch, we all know that Ash's Greninja "has" to be the pokemon to take Alain's Zard down otherwise there's meaning or purpose of them fighting, Arceus forbid someone else take that kill, but I also don't feel that a master's 8 battle should've been used for this, because at the same time that's ALL people who want Ash to avenge his Kalos league loss care about, anyone else brought into the fight...they might as well not even exist, and I feel that all of the pokemon the trainers use in the masters 8 should matter to some extent, not be a glorfied 1 v 1. 9.I'll agree this was kind of dumb, but then again Ash's Tailow/Swellow always had some kind of abnormal electric resistance which is the only reason it barely slides to me, heck brock even said when Ash was about to fight Wattson that Ash probably could've used Tailow because of that. 8.I still feel that ruling Squirtle unable to battle due to being put to sleep was stupid, since we've seen the sleep status used in other tournaments, Charizard not obeying Ash though, the referee had the right to make that call. 7. I still feel the only reason the "Clean slate" happened was due to the first 2 unova games being self contained and not being able to use new pokemon until post game, but they did go too far and this gym battle was one of those cases, at least Palpitoad beat Zebrstrika after the latter soloed Bianca. But the rest of that battle was dumb. 6, 5 & 1 meh kanto gets a pass, at least they fixed that in later gens, also worth noting Giovanni and Ash did have a confrontation in unova, and boy did it end on an interesting note, since giovanni got to see first hand what Jessie and James had to put up with all these years, even if it was power boosted by a legendary. 4 & 2 Zekrom apparently did more than just take away pikachu's electrical powers. Even I could tell Pikachu wasn't in top form for a while early on. 3. Morale of the story, don't play pranks on your challengers. If you want my honest opinion, I think a few other hoenn battles are even worse than what you choose. Take norman for example, the fight comes down to Grovyle vs Slaking, Grovyle pretty much gets beaten within an inch of it's life, sure this triggers Overgrow, but all Grovyle landed was a pound and a leaf blade, which apparently was enough to take Slaking out, sure you could attribute it to leaf blade getting a crit, or Overgrow being that potent, but I still find it hard to accept from a mid stage starter, if Grovyle was fully evolved maybe i'd be more willing to buy it. Then there's Winona's Swellow, Ash's Grovyle hits it with a leaf blade and gets knocked out, he sends out his own swellow, who pretty much gets owned for most of the battle, and somehow wins with 1 wing attack? Then we move onto the battle frontier, where Greta couldn't beat Ash's Snorlax due to it seemingly having infinite health, then the tucker battle where Corphish and Swellow got owned most of the fight, yet someone how win with one blow each on his pokemon. Of course I also know some aren't too happy with how some of his journeys battles have been handled either, ever since he fought Iris there's been some form of controversy that you have some people complaining over, not all but some. Iris: using pokemon (dragons at that) that were not trained as much as hers, granted she knew nothing of Dracovish, and talking to Ash's Dragonite costed her in the end since it may have very well been because of her it learned draco meteor like in the games, but she didn't see it coming, I truly believe that if Ash had not used Dragons in that battle, she probably would've won. Volkner: Pikachu winning with it's Z-move against Electivire (though personally alot of us saw this one coming, if Tapu koko and a giant earth titan couldn't withstand it, how could a standard electivire despite it's ability) Volkner even said it overloaded it, and it's actually been stated in the games that electric pokemon have limitations to how much power they can hold, Ultra games sophocles trial. Bea: complaints over Lucario taking too many super effective hits, not to mention completely shrugging off g-max Machamp's best shot like nothing when mega evolved. Drasna: people feel her pokemon went down to quickly despite inflicting massive damage on both of Ash's pokemon...though her Altaria had it coming for being smug. Raihan: Lucario using what was effectively a spirit bomb, and Raihan not attacking while it was charging up. Could go on, but i'll stop there.

Ash Vs Wattsons was absolute BS, even as a kid it rubbed me the wrong way. Why not have Watson befriend Electrike first and then battle Ash. Thankfully the battle with Flannery was a big redemption. Both the leader and trainer on equal ground, as it should be, Tobias meanwhile is an absolute cheat. Clearly used an action replay and was a disservice to poor Torkoal, Swellow.and Heracross.

Ugh the Ash vs. Brock battle, I've always HATED that one, seeing Pikachu struggling agents Onix not once....but TWICE in the same episode was super painful to watch as a kid, and seeing Brock's younger siblings stopping Ash and being COMPLETE idiot assholes by calling out Ash for "being too harsh and mean" to Brock after Pikachu defeated Onix was SUPER infuriating as it makes me ask: Uh kids.....are you just going to ignore the part were Brock's Onix was STRAGLING Ash's Pikachu?!? Honestly, I thought that the recent Ash vs Drasna was pretty terrible. The writers had to really force Sirfetch’d and Dracovish into a win, even though Altaria and Noivern- who, by the way , need some love themselves- were far stronger than those two which are two of Ash’s weakest.

I really think Ash vs Sabrina from the original anime was the dumest battle, he only got the Marsh Badge because Haunter mad her crack up, so that one should have mad the list. But l do agree with your choises.

Alain vs Leon isn't a bad battle, but I completely agree with what you say. And it could have been such an easy fix. Just buff Rillaboom, so it forces Alain to mega evolve his Charizard, so it has time to shine. It's ok that MegaZard gets wrecked by Leon's Zard, but at least give him a bit more screentime. Chesnaught got too much attention. Make Rillaboom take down Chesnaught, after a few moves, where Leon decides to gmax and ko's with the first gmax move. Alain sends Charizard in, mega evolves as soon as possible, and fights against gmax Rillaboom and takes quite some damage from that. MegaZard ko's Rillaboom after a rough battle, Leon sends in Charizard, and Alain switches to Malamar, and the battle just continues as the original did
