Top 10 WORST Cities in America for 2019.
These are the top 10 worst cities to live in America for 2019. I am sure there are nice things about each of these cities, but that is for another list. What makes a city get on the worst list? Crime, poverty, bad schools, pollution, etc.
The United States is filled with bad cities. We have a lot of good ones too. Sadly, people seem to be more interested in the bad cities the United States has to offer.

I lived in Memphis most of my life. Moved to Florida in 1990. Memphis was not that bad when I lived there. You did have to watch your back, but the hype about it is over the top. Like any large urban area, you have to know the rules.

@@swinde true, if you know yr "way around" you should be ok. But, Memphis is way worse than Oakland. The race relations on the west coast are waaayyy better. There is no black part of town, etc. Everyone lives together. I mean, the wealthy have their own section,ie, the hills. Hell, theres even the Oakland hills. I miss the ever loving heck outta M town but i just cant move back. Life is so easy there. Life here, not so much but you adjust. IF i was to ever go back, itd be a cake walk compared to here. 4/500 a month for a 2 br house!!! Sheeeiiit. 500 here wont even get you an abandoned car at the bottom of a lake! But, i persevere. Good talking to a neighbor. Whered you go to high school? I went to Ridgeway until my freshman year then Central in midtown in my high school years.

My home city of Buffalo has greatly improved over the past decade with a lot of major new investment throughout large parts of the city. The economy has improved somewhat and we are not as depressed as we were 15 years ago. During the mid 80s to late 90s, Buffalo was only a city to be from now many people especially younger entrepreneurial types are coming to the Queen City of the Lakes to set up shop because it is cheaper to operate and live here. However our east side remains crime infested and decayed and civic leaders are trying to jump start development on the impoverished east side. But Buffalo is coming back. Now if only the Bills would improve on the field. We also need to defeat the old NIMBYs when they oppose any new development or way of doing things here in Buffalo.

Pittsburgh would be another great contender for most improved cities. While many Rust Belt cities are still struggling decades after the downfall of the coal and steel industries, Pittsburgh managed to turn itself around and is a pretty big medical/tech/research town now. Pollution has also greatly improved since the steel days, back when Pittsburgh was primarily a steel town it could get so dark downtown during the day that streetlights would come on. A lot of old brownfields have been turned into retail or housing areas (The Waterfront shopping center for example) and many areas of downtown/near downtown have had success in revitalization projects. Pittsburgh was being considered for Amazon’s new headquarters, and now new highway projects are bringing developments to the outskirts of the city. Traffic still sucks (one section of I-376 west of the city was rated the most congested section of highway outside of NYC or LA) and public transportation could be improved but things like the aforementioned highway projects are turning this around. Most schools in the area are also pretty good, I know I received an excellent education from my high school and there are several highly regarded universities in the area (Pitt, Duquesne, Carnegie Mellon, Point Park, Robert Morris, etc). It has also ranked high or at the top of many “Most Livable Cities”/“Best Places to Live” lists in the last several years.

While I haven't been a victim of a crime yet, I'm sure it's coming. Very few places here are on "the good side of town". Most of the decent places to live are outside of city limits, and they can be very nice. People are flooding to the outskirts of town in droves. I was stationed at Homestead AFB when hurricane Andrew hit. We were told to evacuate that Sunday and I came home to South Carolina and finished my military time here at Charleston AFB. I still live in Charleston proper in West Ashley and it is safe here but just across the river is North Charleston. North Charleston S.C. is a city that should have made this list. North Charleston has all of the criteria that you spoke of that qualifies a place for this list.There is hardly a week that goes by that a couple of people doesn't get shot and most of the time killed. The schools suck there and the city's lower income neighborhoods look like war zones and I know first hand what a war zone looks like and to tell the truth they are. Take a look for your next update and you'll see what I mean. I really learn a lot from this page. Keep up the great work and thank you for your service!! P.S. Charleston is considered as the friendliest city in America according to Travel Magazine but it would make your most racist cities in America. I guess they forgot to ask the black people how friendly it is.

I’m from Delaware and honestly Wilmington is like a 20 second blip on I-95, the communities immediately surrounding it are actually pretty affluent. The Wilmington area is known for old money (DuPonts), private schools, and country clubs. Downtown is the only bad part and it’s only a couple blocks I wouldn’t walk through otherwise I don’t think it earned the #1 spot
@robertpreskop4425

Large areas of Wilmington itself also had a lot of old money and beautiful old homes on leafy city streets. But the other part of Wilmington below downtown was an urban nightmare of decay and drugs.

@FreeAmerica4Ever
@FreeAmerica4Ever 4 жыл бұрын
@@suprensa4393 Shreveport was pretty rundown, the overall government there didn't seem to give a rats ass about the state or any of the major cities, and the laws are outdated, and corruption is embedded in law enforcement from the bottom to the highest levels of office. KC is by no means perfect, but it's open carry laws, minimal government interventions and laws that promote prosperity and encourage growth and development, plus the school district I live in is one of the best in this part of the country. Shreveport was the exact opposite in education, the only way kids got even a half way decent education there was to pay for private school. It was a mess, and I don't think it's gotten any better since I've left.

Downtown Detroit has an residential occupancy rate of 95 percent , Also a huge demand for office space downtown . We have a great mayor in Mike Duggen who is focused on the entire city not just downtown . Speaking of downtown Dan Gilbert has a 915 ft skyscraper being built now at Hudson site .He also started construction on the Monroe Block . 5 different high rise developments including office , commercial , residential , and retail . Chemical Bank is moving there head quarters from the suburbs back downtown in another new high rise across Little Caesars Arena . New developments like Brush Park with 2600 new homes built . Orleans Landing another new residential neighborhood that has just been built . From Downtown to Midtown to the neighborhood's the city is finally going in the rite direction . I remember visiting to Baltimore for a vacation with my Aunt and Uncle 9 years ago (this was 11 years after Jeremy Cummings was elected to take control of the city). I know since 1999 Baltimore went total downhill. But in my own experience being in the whole day in Baltimore (it was one day visit) as a 13 yr old in that time in 2010 and as a visitor from Utah, it was okay. The condition felt meh but it was alright on that time. It had some fun stuff going on in the deck areas including their shops, restaurants, places for kids, etc. I don’t know, maybe it was because I was very protected with my grandparents along with my aunt and uncle, I guess that’s why Baltimore was a decent place to go. But now, 9 years laters, and according to the news, it’s so sad to say Baltimore is not an okay place to go. Of course you can go, but now it’s just not that safe to go. Really sad.

Baltimore used to be a city with lots of shipyards. Several of the steel companies had shipyards there, including Bethlehem Steel, which was once one of the largest steel companies in the world. When the steel and shipbuilding industries went elsewhere because of lower wages, technological changes, lower raw material costs, and better economies of scale, much of Baltimore was doomed. Those jobs provided middle class status for lots of people. Those jobs are forever gone.
