@@vicentegeonix Not that there shouldn't be any more parody movies, but if you're going to make a parody movie, you should at least have an underlying appreciation for the material that you're sending up. The works of Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker and Mel Brooks have proven that point home.

If you want proof that parody movies, if done right, can bee some of the funniest and best movies ever made look up pretty much everything from Mel Brooks. His worst is better than their best.

"Meet the Spartans" and "Vampires Suck" are great movies. Vampires suck is almost better than Twilight and Meet the Spartans is the "U" version of 300. The ones who made this video should have Met the Spartans or been Sucked by Vampires.

Scary movie and Meet the Spartans have always been guilty pleasures to me. I know they are shit, some of the jokes are actually cringey and it is quite obvious that its main audience is edgy teenagers, but i cant help but laugh at most of their jokes.

A good parody like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein or Spaceballs satirize elements of the movie in a clever, self-aware way. Mel Brooks was actually a fan of westerns and old horror, so he knew how to make fun of them properly. Films like Disaster Movie and Epic Movie are just random pop culture references and poop jokes. Even Friedberg and Seltzer movie admit they didn't even watch the movies they were referencing, but rather just replicated images from trailer shots.

I love the first four Scary Movies and the fifth one is trash, but I still burst out laughing when you showed the "look at that form, that technique" clip with Molly Shannon dancing. Maybe that wasn't the best clip to show to prove the movie was awful/lazy.

Fun Fact: (if you’re interested) Baylor Hotner (Character of Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated), has a parody name of Taylor Lautner and has the looks of Edward Cullen... In Twilight Movies & funny cause the voice actor is Matt Lanter that also played Edward Sullen in 2010’s Vampires Sucks

Nega Goku Comedy is supposed to offer substance and context that makes people relate to the joke in an original and clever way. Parody films are supposed to do commentary on the films they are referencing while also offering clever substance. BAD comedy/parody films just reference what's popular with no commentary or substance, and just rely on mindless vulgar gags with nothing clever or original to sustain it. Artistically, they suck.

#1 Disaster Movie should've been called Lazy Movie, because it has little or nothing with actual Disaster Movies. (Unless I fell asleep, and missed a tornado scene in Juno.)

Vampires Suck was hillarious. It had a lot of minor gags within gags that raised some cruicial points on the creepiness and abusiveness of all the characters along with poking holes at the plot holes of the story AND bagging the trope in general.

As a kid i love these movies they where kinda good and funny, and you always wanted to know what movie they where gonna make fun of next, not gonna lie, watching these guys make parodies of other horror films took my fear away from scary movies, parody movies ruined real scary movies except for paranormal activity, idc what no 1 say any scary movie based on a true story always gives you the chills

To be honest i think "Epic Movie" is underrated, yeah for Me people are too hard with it, it doesn't deserve to be so hated... because it parodies well the movies it parodies and plus the humor and jokes are creatives... so yeah i love this movie... i wish it works so it has sequels and also to create a new type of parody movies blockbuster !

It's still uses way too many pop culture references that don't tie into anything. Most good parodies focus on one film or genre, mocking the tropes and plot elements rather than just referencing whatever was popular at the time.

I couldn't get through it. It's not my type of humor, which I won't fault it for (okay, I fault it a little. The extended American Idol parody was cringingly bad). But my god, I think was the cheapest looking movie I've ever seen. The costumes. The sets. The cheesy filter effects. They look like they were out of a student film. I can't believe it wasn't straight to DVD.

what they're supposed to be is the comedic versions of good movies; giving commentary on the films structure while playfully acknowledging their flaws. It's not just adding a bunch of pop culture references with poop jokes and calling it genius. We're talking Darth Vader being portrayed by a whiny voice Rick Moranis or shooting a chicken from a a bow, the gandson of Frankenstein despising his family's names so much he tries to change the pronunciation, an emergency autopilot being portrayed as an inflatable doll named Otto. Mel Brooks, Zucker Brothers, all that good stuff.

That's because he has standards and a good understanding of themes, what he could make fun of, and what he couldn't. In almost all of those movies you listed, there were a shitton of jokes related to Jewish stereotypes that would be considered offensive if Mel Brooks himself wasn't Jewish.

The whole point of parodies are to make fun of original movies. They are not meant to take them seriously. They are not suppose to win awards. Who made this video i think forgot the whole idea of parodies.. They are not comedies.

Except that they still missed the whole "making fun of" point and just instert toilet humour in every tiny hole they can find. It's funny the first one or two times, but when it starts to rinse and repeat, it becomes tedious. On the other hand, movies like Spaceballs or Hotshots, which ALSO happen to be parodies of well known movies, get this formula just right exactly BECAUSE they don't ride the toilet donkey, but insert original and exaggerated scenes like killing someone with a chicken on a bow, breaking the fourth Wall or singing men in tights.

What do you mean with "toilet humor"? I haven't seen a lot of toilet humor in most of these. I'll have to admit some of these jokes aren't very creative, but they're still funny jokes that make me laugh to this very day due to how random and unexpected they are

"Toilet humour" as in poop, farts, sex, racism, you know, the whole mid-teen cliché jokes that generally appeal to a teen audience for a quick cent. I found them funny myself... when I was like... 13 or something. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Scary Movie 1 and 2, but after those, it just went downhill and it's just a rinse and repeat. On pretty much every movie on this list. Sure, they may have the one or other scene that are funny, but overall, it's a yawnfest. Now a movie like Spaceballs, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or The Life of Brian (or just any Monty Pyton movie, really), those have timeless jokes that are sophisticated and don't offend anyone unless they're crystal princesses. But HEY!, to each their own. If people find these enjoyable, be my guest. Just don't invite me over to watch them with you.

say whatever you want but vampires suck and meet the spartans were pure gold. as for disaster movie it was good at doing it badly. i think some people misunderstand the point of those movies. they weren't trying to make something fantastic, they tried to make fun of things while having fun, at least that's how i see it. the only movie that was actualy a disaster was scary movie 5, THAT was really terrible.

You guys need to lighten up these are parody movies. They are making fun of the original movies and aren’t to be taken seriously or aiming for rewards. The humour isn’t supposed to be largely thought out because the whole joke is about them making fun of the movie itself. I hope that made sense Also humour is subjective and just because the joke is supposedly cheap or immature doesn’t necessarily make it any less funny. If you laugh, it’s funny. Peace

@@welcometothemetaverse2523 I completely agree. Even the stupidest Dad jokes in Airplane or Top Secret still make me laugh now, whereas I didn't even crack a smile watching these clips. Literally the only thing I can remember about Meet the spartans is various random celebrities queuing up to be kicked down a well. Mel Brooks and the Zuckers realise you still need to have an actual plot and sometimes the humour works far better by playing it totally straight. Plus some of the random surrealness is unexpectedly brilliant humour (like the Sheriff taking himself hostage in Blazing saddles or the guard who smashes when he falls off the prison wall in Top Secret) The humour is still silly, but it is also thought out .
