What's cool is that if you're into modding Brawl/Project M, there are competitive/semi-competitive versions of pretty much all these stages available for download and they're all AWESOME for both competitive and casual play, especially the Rainbow Cruise and Icicle Mountain revisions.

Big Blue is the best to me

I'm so glad you grew out of these 2016 era top 10s. The memes here are just painful.

I really like "Poke Floats", "Big Blue", and "Rainbow Cruise". A Melee stage I'd probably have included is the second Star Fox stage, it's just not very good with those five platforms.

A lot of these stages are hard to play on, but that's what makes them fun and unique. If all the stages didn't have pitfalls and had a lot of fight space, it would have been boring. That being said, for me the worst stages in this or even other games like Mario Kart are the ones that feel like a 'standard' stage without anything special, and not the hard ones. Regardless of agreeing with these top 10 vids or not, I enjoy watching them anyway.

Icicle Mountain looks like a stage for Subspace Emissary

I liked how you started to say Hyrule Castle to create salt since everyone loves that stage.

Honestly, I like some of these stages here, especially Big Blue. Yeah, I know it can be difficult to fight on at times, but I had a lot of fun on this stage, especially in Brawl, where you can actually survive on the road with Sonic and the Bunny Hat.

Aww man, you got me at #1! I agree, Temple is awesome. Temple is the perfect example of how to do a big stage in this series. My least fave from Melee is Fourside. The music is nice, but if you EVER fall inbetween the buildings, consider yourself dead unless if you have a good recovery.

Nathaniel, do you like the stage from EarthBound Onett? This stage came back in Brawl!. I love this stage!

For Big Blue, you can't outrun the track as Captain Falcon with a Bunny Hood, but you can do it in the Brawl version with either a)Sonic with a Bunny Hood, b)Wario using Wario Bike as Wario-Man, or c) Wario using Wario Bike and doing a wheelie. Using any of these methods, it is possible to SD off the right side of the stage, so be careful trying to beat the racers.

For the "Dark Top 10 Age of 2016", this is actually pretty accurate. Even though I never played Melee.

Nathan, if number 1 WAS temple, I'm sure everyone would dislike this vid.

Now I don't like most of the Scrolling stages however Poke Floats is my favorite stage in the series. The music is perfect, The stage is iconic and it requires skill, now the first time I seen poke floats I wasn't a fan but because of the event match where you have to fight giant bowser I quickly learned the layout not only that the cpus actually are decent on this stage so you could just follow them (this goes for most scrolling stages). Now let's look at my least favorite smash stage Paper Mario, this is how poke floats could have been. the stage transitions are way too fast and the cpus are rock stupid the first time the stage shifted all 4 of us lost a life and when it shifted to Bowser's castle we died again and I would have lost if I didn't auto grab a ledge because the other cpus just fell immediately after respawn. Now maybe I would have a better time with Paper Mario now but I am a firm believer of first impressions and that first impression was ass. after that I immediately turned that stage off on random and never played it again since.

I actaully like most of melees stages... except for brinstar depths and poke floats those can suffer

I'm surprised Peach's Castle didn't show up; I think it should've been a dishonorable mention. The button mechanic is alright, I suppose, but the Banzai Bills and their big-ass, usually insta-kill explosions partly ruins it for me. If Nintendo would remove the "Surprise Jihad" Bills and adjust where the colored platforms/blocks appear, I wouldn't mind seeing this stage return in Sma5h. Hell, if they fix it up right, I'd gladly accept it as Sm4sh DLC.

I haven't unlocked every stage in this game yet, but I gotta say that Big Blue looks like a banger!

I love Brinstar, it's unpredictability is perfect for parties with friends. All these stages are really fun, the lava in Brinstar is so awesome, and the mario bros stage is great. idk how there could be a truly horrible Super Smash Bros stage

brinstar depths is probably one of my favorites honestly.

On one hand, I was surprised that Corneria wasn't on this list, but on the other hand, it's only problematic in Brawl.

I actually don’t mind the camera in Rainbow Cruise outside of where it speeds up at the end where you drop back to the airship, but the camera does scroll at a moderate speed so Rainbow Cruise isn’t too bad on its own

Mushroom Kingdom is a retro stage in the n64 version. I thought you said that you won't count retro stages. You should have put on Mute City on number 6, then Jungle Japes #4, then Big Blue #5

Brinstar Depths is one of my favorite maps, Actually when the new Mario Galaxy map was confirmed, I was hoping for it to be like Brinstar Depths, but you stay on the map when you're sideways, or upside down. Poke Floats is also one of my favorites. I was hoping it'd return in WiiU/3DS. Or have a Poke Floats 2. Mushroom Kingdom II is my all time favorite map, I like it some much more than Mushroom Kingdom I.
