The WWE Royal Rumble has been a highlight of the wrestling calendar for more than three decades, as 30 or more wrestlers enter the match with only one winner. The WWE Royal Rumble winner goes on to WrestleMania for a shot at the champ. One several occasions however, WWE has crowned the wrong superstar. In this list let's take a look at the top 10 WORST EVER Royal Rumble winners.

The 40-man Royal Rumble Match sucked but Booker T And Diesel's return after both being in TNA was awesome I can't wait for this year's Royal Rumble PPV and seeing what Triple H Comes up with.

Del Rio was pushed at a time even I was a kid. Kayfabe was broken for me but was easily able to suspend disbelief everytime it came on. The combination of del rio being a heel and being pushed way too quickly upon arrival made me reject him, but I’ve since gone back and watched a lot of that era again and have grown somewhat of an appreciation for him. He wasn’t groundbreaking in ring, but wasn’t bad either and specifically his selling was top notch

He just said McMahon forfeited his Royal rumble win to the corporate champion, the WWF champion, The Rock. So did The Rock face himself at WrestleMania? He forfeited his spot and said he was going to pick a guy and Shawn Michaels came on the titantron as the commissioner and said sorry but the rules say that if you forfeit your spot the runner up gets to go and that's how Steve Austin faced the rocket wrestlemania

The first ever Nakamura match I saw was against Kota Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 9, where he instantly became my favorite wrestler at time. It's a shame that he couldn't even become my favorite wrestler in WWE since he started there in 2016, because that honor's always been held by Kevin Owens due to both his superior character and in-ring work compared to what Nakamura's done in WWE.

Actually Mr McMahon did not forfeit the 1999 title shot for the Rock, he forfeited his chance in the hopes of personally selecting The Rock (who was champion remember) opponent. It was Shawn Michaels, the WWF commissioner, who stepped in and said "if the rumble winner forfeits his shot, then it goes to the person who was runner up " which led to Austin v Rock. Basically the whole of 1999 Rumble was a giant angle where McMahon "won" only to lose right after by his own decisions Also the Lex Express happened AFTER he slammed Yoko, in fact Lex had literally worked a house show the previous night as a heel

The biggest mistake they made with Lex Luger was turning him babyface in the Summer of ‘93. The guy was a natural heel, and should have never been considered to win the 1994 Royal Rumble. Bret Hart was the real loser in that situation, not being named the single winner of that Royal Rumble. Lex Luger fizzled out by early 1994 with the fan support.

I would say the 2016 Rumble should have been Dean Ambrose. Triple H could have always inserted himself as the third man, and a triple threat would have given the fans somebody to get interested in at least. Instead they had a terrible main event, and the hottest guy in the company at the time was put into a lackluster match against Lesnar. A guy who had no interest in really doing anything.

@@pinealdreams1064 You say that, but yet Roman vs HHH wasn’t a travesty, considering the fact of the match was egregiously terrible as it dragged on for 27 pissing minutes and the fans making it clear that they did not want to see the match happen in the first place? Ambrose was the hottest babyface of the time and the fans would’ve been far more happy if they would’ve had him walk out his champion at WM 32.

Who was the agent for aj and nakamura? I know nakamura is beat up physically from yearsbof strong style but with the right opponent and the right event like vs sami he can turn it on. If there's one night and only one to turn it up to 11 its mania vs AJ

Vinces problem always forcing folk over when u have paying workers (fans) telling you who's over so fkn easy to book go with fans 80 90% time as obv no always but they are the ones paying buying merchandise etc.

Charlotte was the wrong choice in 2020, but honestly she probably would've won the first Women's Rumble in 2018 if she wasn't already a champion at that time.

Roman Reigns winning that Royal Rumble was Vince McMahon trying to force a babyface Roman down the fans' throats, when the fans had zero interest in that. Vince should have gotten that message loud and clear when the fans booed the Rock, but he didn't.

You got the luger thing mixed up. He was a heel then appeared out of no where to body slam yoko. Then started thr lex express to campaign his match against yoko for that years summer slam for the world title which he won by count out. The. THe royal rumble then lost to yoko at wrestlemania

And you can add Brock Lesnar winning last year as an honorable mention. Because he would still win the WWE Championship at Day 1 and challenge Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a winner take all match. Not many wanted to see these two headline Wrestlemania for the third time.

It's so stupid how wrestlers in kayfabe are allowed to go out of the ring through the ropes as much as they like in this match type. I much prefer the royal rumble rules in the WWF N64 games where you can only have 4 people in the ring at once and you can't exit the ring unless someone forces you over the top rope and out.

I know people like roman now that he's heel and has been in a good story line but i still find him boring as hell. And he gets a much easier schedule than guys like seth. Why don't they give seth the real title not this new world title and let him put on clinics and if he had a lighter schedule he could save his big bumps for ppvs.
