For me, it was the double buyout. They acquired two stacked rosters and gave basically everyone walking papers.

I straight up STOPPED for a bit after The Nexus got destroyed after Summerslam 2010. WWE had a VERY good opportunity with the Nexus. Could have had someone like Sheamus or Orton join them and it could have been really good.

For me, it was the stupidity of how the Invasion angle was booked. Of course all the WWE wrestlers won, but Ol' Vicent Mac. could have made millions and millions of cash$ had Vincent Mac. made the WCW/ECW wrestlers a very real and legitimate threat. So much so all the WWE wrestlers friend and foe alike had to band together to stop them.

I was an avid fan of the wwf and even received the monthly magazine and I remember when I gave up on wrestling. For me was when I realized that "interference" was their main plot twist in major matches and the predictable nature of the show was obvious.

I don't remember hearing that much about steroids in the wake of Benoit. Rather it was the long term damage of CTE, and how WWE just didn't seem to want to care about it.

I stopped watching WWF in 1992. It was entering that weird transitional phase before the attitude era, and I tuned out. But then, in 96’ sometime, I was channel surfing and landed on a WCW show on TNT, and it was entertaining enough to watch a couple more times and then a few weeks in, I saw the formation of the NWO and got hooked. Watched WCW for the next year, didn’t even pay attention to WWF, then I heard about the Montreal Screwjob and didn’t watch another WWF show until the Smackdown in Houston a couple of days after 9/11. I’ve intermittently followed wrestling since, but my favorite era is by far WWF in 1986-1992.

The exact moment I stopped watching forever was when Mae Young gave birth to a hand. It was like they didn't even care about whatever garbage they were writing at the time.

What killed them for me was the DQ decision for Bray Wyatt Vs Seth Rollins HIAC match, though I had been worn down over the years previous to that by the constant advert breaks, endless recaps and just plain intelligence insulting and disregard for continuity - Vince killed his own business - beyond repair remains to be seen, but I’ve had enough of them

The lack of direct competition bringing down the in match quality was my reason. I’d never been able to word it so well until your video. I got into TNA 2005-2007 somehow. One of the best unexpected experiences I had with wrestling that helped me sign off for good as I hit my teens.

The Zack Ryder ( Matt Cardona ) thing killed me. I was freaking out like I was 12 when he finally got his IC Championship only to piss me off to no end to have it taken away the very next day on RAW.

I grew up in the 80s watching WWF. then the attitude era hit, and it made me love wrestling even more. I stopped watching around the ruthless aggression era. I still wanted to like it, and would check in but it just wasn't the same. I was obsessed with wrestling my whole childhood, and teenaged years into my 20s. If it wasn't for AEW, I may have never gotten my love of wrestling back. I am more obsessed with wrestling than I ever have been. WWE still doesn't click with me always, I am hoping that changes with triple h. I can't get enough of AEW However. The shows, the figures, I almost have every AEW figure, and a bunch of the rare chase figures. I feel like a kid again, and I'm loving it. That's why I am an AEW diehard. Not only just the love of it, AEW has my favorite roster of all time. I just wish everyone could be used. The attitude era did a great job of using everyone, and having an almost everyone over roster. But the in ring work wasn't anywhere near as good as now a days. But it didn't matter back then, I still love the attitude era. It was crazy, exciting, captivating, and I still get those feelings watching it back. I get those feelings with AEW. it's a great time to be a wrestling fan!

Once WCW shut down I was done with Wrestling, all these years later I now see what I missed.....not much clearly. Sad...WCW invasion could've been something so special.

I'm super glad I found your channel. This was a great video, and really got me thinking about where it was that I gave up on the WWE and wrestling in general in the modern era. I still keep up with the big news, and I'm a Cornette guy who religiously listens to both of his podcasts, so I have at least a sense of what's going on. I really wish AEW would have been an alternative to the WWE instead of just an alternative of the WWE. I'm going to say they first started to lose me when Austin turned heel and was close to the end of his run, but the purchase of WCW and then driving it head-first into the dirt was the final nail in the coffin for me. I watched less and less when WWE neutered themselves by going TV-PG, but the final straw for me was when my brother invited me over to his house to watch the first Greatest Royal Rumble, and much of the commentary on the program was spent talking about how great and progressive of a place Saudi Arabia was. That BS propaganda permanently turned me off.

I gave up on WWE when Randy Orton said Eddie Guerrero was in Hell. I wasn't mad at Randy, I know he's just following the Script, I was furious at the Writing ( Vince McMahon/Bruce Pritchard/Johnny Ace/Pat Patterson etc.. ). There's no reason to use a deceased former LEGEND of wrestling to build cheap HEAT for a match. I was Eddie's biggest fan for many years n that moment almost made me shatter my television screen, instead, I turned it off. They already insulted Road Warrior Hawk shortly after he passed n this was the straw that broke the Camel's back. I was a Diehard WWF fan since 1988.

Not a bad video man. Only constructive thing I'd add is maybe some sort of designation that tells us when you're moving on to another segment. It almost looks like it's all one long run-on comment, when we know it's not. Maybe something like that can help new viewers and casual fans feel more involved or engaged with your video content. Jericho winning undisputed title over rock and Austin was the end of the attitude era, and WWF lost the majority of fans. Had to go to PG to get children fans… Vince is horrible at his job everyone thinks he’s so smart but literally anyone else could have done a better job at end of attitude era

It was a slow erosion for WWE from the end of the Monday Night Wars. By mid 2018 the rot had taken over totally (about the time that baron Corbin was heavily pushed). But somehow I stuck it out until WrestleMania 36, and that's the last WWE show I watched---TV or Pay per View. I have been watching AEW exclusively since, but even that has really gone down hill over the last 4-5 months. Having watched wrestling since the early 1970s (starting with the A.W.A.) I may find myself not watching any current wrestling for the first time in 50 years.

3 hour Raw episodes were only ever watchable with the ability to fast forward through them. There'd be 3 hour shows with 20 minutes of wrestling. Promos are an important part of the wrestling experience, but they should never go longer than 5 minutes each (and even that's a bit long). But the formula each week seemed to be something like 20 minute mic spot, recap of the mic spot, backstage segment, recap of last week, recap of mic spot, less than 5 minute match, another mic spot, recap of that mic spot, recap of the earlier mic spot, backstage segment, another very short match, another long mic spot, more recaps, slightly longer match, recap, promo for upcoming PPV, backstage segment, long mic spot ending in beat down, end. It wasn't worth it after a while. We made it to an era where it was easier to watch WWE than ever before thanks the the WWE Network but it was less worth watching than ever before. I've never completely given up on wrestling. There's been a few times where I've thought "right, that's it" and stopped watching for a while. I think the first was when Hulk Hogan left WWF in 1993. I tried to watch him in WCW but it just wasn't the same. I got back into wrestling in early 1998 after a friend online said I should give it another go and I was hooked again. I lost some interest after The Undertaker became the American Bad Ass, but I kept watching for a while until losing interest in the product by the end of 2001. I came back to wrestling in 2004 when a friend at college lent me a tape of Wrestlemania 20 which had just happened a few days earlier. From there, I kept watching until towards the end of 2013, but by that point I had started fast forwarding most of Raw and Smackdown. I didn't watch wrestling for quite some time after that but then that was more down to personal reasons. I did see bits and pieces and kept up with the news online, but didn't really watch it regularly. Now, I've discovered the WWE Tagged Classics DVDs and am enjoying reliving the moments I enjoyed before as well as finding some shows I'd never been able to track down before. As of right now, I've yet to see anything from WWE, AEW or TNA that makes me want to start watching the modern product again. I've given each of them multiple chances but they just don't seem to give me whatever it was I used to get from wrestling. I think I needed the larger than life characters like Hogan was in the 80s or Taker was in the 90s. They don't have that anymore. There isn't the variety of characters anymore either. They used to have everything from the walking dead to a wrestling clown to a shoot fighter to an androgynous living Oscar statue and so on. Nothing in the modern era has been able to capture my imagination in a long time.

I keep trying to come back to wrestling but all the channels talking about "oh is AEW dying?" Or "WWE just made a HUGE mistake" just keep driving me off.

Vince McMahon was completely out of touch with what people truly wanted and he alienated the audience and people just move on to better things.

I liked wcw for the personality, but hated it for the actual matches, bc there was always interference by mostly the nwo. The only matches I really liked was the cruiserweight matches and a few other wrestlers matches like Steven reagle, lex luger, dean malinko and the 4 horsemen, which tbh there was a lot of interference by the horsemen too, but for some reason I was ok with that. I just didn't like watching the nwo wrestle and get all the glory when there were way better wrestlers on the roster that deserved to be treated the way the nwo was treated.

I quit watching WWE after the Attitude Era, I really tried to watch it after and I gave it a chance but couldn't do it.

I think that I stopped watching WWE fully after Undertaker and Shawn Michaels in the second WrestleMania. I was turning out, but following the programs. To see something like The Shield and Wyatt Family program. I can barely remember the last match I watched fully.

Vince and Austin insulting God is the only one of these that made me turn the TV that is the only thing I ask is don't insult my God.

I've never gave up to WWE to be honest. I just had a pair of alternatives to watch along when they weren't doing well (mostly TNA and ROH, at least before AEW ruined it). But to be honest I don't get why some people praise AEW so much. For the standards of someone who watched wrestling for 20 years like me, it's utter unispired crap that tried so much to be a WWE alternative it ended up becoming the real NXT 2.0 and since Vince McMahon stepped down they even lost all of their meaning, becoming a promotion like many others but with even less inspired booking. And whenever I ask "Why it's so good to you" I get always the same parrot-like answers.

When they changed the name to WWE, I got the F out.

The storylines have gotten progressively worse every day. Those who still support and watch the wwe. Are either way too young to know better. Or just mentally slow. I'll never watch pro wrestling again. Until a true no nonsense company comes around. If one ever does.

I stopped watching when WcW keep producing bad shows in the late 90's. The night after the buy out was the last show I watched as I knew it would be bad for the industry. I don't regret it as WcW stars treated like dirt and still are to this day. If you're not WWE's creation and they don't own you and your brand they treat you like trash. WWE could have made a lot more money if they use some of the big stars from WcW correctly but the petty grudge Vince has against other wrestlers from other promotions didn't allow that too happen. Was never a big Wwf/WWE fan but I refuse to give them a view/money whether it be KZfaq or TV I don't buy anything that's from them and I keep my ear to the ground regarding the wrestling industry by watching shows like this

Watched from like 89 at the grand old age of 4, fell in love with the rockers and became a huge shawn micheals fan. Watched his rise through the years that followed and cried tears of joy when he won his iron man match against bret heart. Fast forward to 97, dx formed, the start of the attitude era and things were just getting better and better. Then disaster struck, he broke his back, had to drop the title to stone cold and i thought that was that for hbk. Watched for another few years but without him it didnt feel the same. Then to find out years later he came bck and had almost another 10 years did me in 😂.. Will be forever greatful for the memories from hbk though, he made my childhood and teenage years, just wish id of got to see him the second time around 👍

"Eventually, Punk quit." Well... actually he was released on his wedding day. But yeah, he was taking time off because he had been working severely hurt and was almost dying of a MRSA infection, so calling that a walk out, justified as it was, isn't exactly untrue.

I left when the ruthless aggression era was started. Maybe like a year later. I didn't like the new themes of the teams and wrestlers or the story lines.

I stopped watching WWE when Triple H buried Booker T.. Didn't see watch almost a decade until The Rock came back in 2011 which sparked my interest back in WWE and I left for good when WWE kept burying Bray Wyatt losing to Joe Cena in 2014.. Nothing against John Cena but he didn't need that win.. it was clearly Bray Wyatt's time and WWE stopped that right in his tracks..

I never left my love of wrestling but there were a lot of down years. 2019 was brutal. 1995 in particular I was so close to bowing out. Diesel as a bland babyface champ having to main event with Sid and Mable and of course the silly gimmick characters we had to sit through. A very lean roster. Survivor series 95 saved it for me though. It was bad for wcw as well as we were stuck with hogans 80s booking but it was so much more cheesy in wcw.

I kinda lost interest in wrestling as a whole back in 2019 when Kofi Kingston lost the WWE title to Brock Lesnar in 9 seconds on a random episode of Smackdown. It wasn't even just the way he lost, it was the fact that he went right back to skipping, twerking, and throwing pancakes the next week like his title reign never happened. And worse was how toxic the fanboys were over it. "Well that's what would happen in real life!" So you're telling me that Kofi Kingston isn't allowed to at least contend with Brock Lesnar in a fictional wrestling match, but Rey Mysterio is allowed to beat Mark Henry and the Big Show? Shawn Michaels is allowed to beat Vader and Ken Shamrock? Yeah, I had pretty much watched wrestling since I was 5 years old(2007). And while I would take breaks every now and then, this made me legit quit for over 2 years.

There were several moments that made me quit. 1. When they screwed Bret Hart. I was a die hard Bret fan and I couldn't stand Shawn Michaels parading his belt that he got from the screw job. 2. The Anonymous GM. They teased so many wrestlers like Stone Cold and Shawn Michaels. After like 3 months I finally realized they had no plans who this GM will be and they were just jerking everybody around. When the Anonymous GM turned out to be Hornswoggle, that was the final insult to my intelligence. 3. When CM Punk left. The man voiced all my frustrations about the product. When he left I knew everything was gonna return to the John Cena show. I haven't watched WWE since then.

10 Times WWE Lost Fans FOREVER: 1) The end of the Attitude Era 2) Everything else.

Even though I still continued to watch until 2007, Austin's heel turn did it for me. It was never the same after that. It's like it went from good to bad in the blink of a eye.

Being a child born in the late-1980's, Attitude Era was my exposure to pro-wrestling and I absolutley loved it. As well, I also followed ECW and WCW. I stopped watching it around early-2001. I think shortly before McMahon acquired WCW and ECW. Not because I lost interest but because my dad transitioned our household from basic cable to Dish. So I couldn't watch wrestling. So, as almost 2 years went by, I remember hearing several classmates mentioning about Goldberg and the Hurricane when I was in the 8th grade(early-2003). So, my interest in wrestling sparks again. Saw an episode of RAW on TNN, but seeing a different logo, familiar faces from previous promotions, and two televised formats (RAW and SmackDown are two separate shows). Now, I was stuck watching RAW but could not watch SmackDown since SmackDown was on UPN and my household didn't have basic cable. Thus, I hated watching RAW at times since it was dominated by Triple H and Evolution and had nothing much interesting to watch other than Stacy Keibler. I later became aware that SmackDown was more entertaining to watch with the Cruiserweight division and colorful tag-team division as well with the US title circuit. So, I had to go to my neighbor's house to watch SmackDown. PPVs have gotten better and I was able to watch them for free since my dad got a hacked insert Dish card to allow me all the good premium stuff like HBO and "adult" content. So, my guess when I fully stop watching wrestling was few months after the Chris Benoit incident. Already graduated high school, then going to community college, working a job, found new pastime like watching Twitch(then-JTV). I would hear about new wrestlers and John Cena being a mega star from my younger relatives. And that's about it. I think we just grow out of it as we get older. For example, I used to follow NFL, NBA, and soccer. And watch a lot of matches growing up but in the last 6 years or so, I only watch highlights and look up scores.

Lesnar and Reigns seem to be widely accepted now in WWE, which sadly only proves Vince right that you just need to shove something down fans' throats for long enough before they begin to love it.

How about the original brand extension in 2002? Fans were used to watching all the major stars on one show but now the roster was split in two.

I remember consciously deciding I was over it when Hornswoggle blew Jonathan Coachman up under the ring. I love plenty of hokey things in wrestling but I felt so embarrassed watching that. I didn’t quit watching but it was out of my routine until the pipe bomb promo

Once upon a time WWE thought it was a good idea to let a WWE nobody named Logan Paul wrestle against their Universal Champion, Roman Reigns, at Crown Jewel 2022. The WWE bet that this fan would love this match because of its similarity to Rocky Balboa against Apollo Creed in the "Rocky" series, but this WWE fan is aware WWE's match would be scripted, and any win by Paul, whom had completed only 2 WWE matches up to this point, would be absolutely nonsensical and drive this WWE fan away permanently had he somehow been scripted to beat the Tribal Chief in this snoozer of a match. Fortunately, for WWE, Reigns still is Universal Champion, and Logan Paul still has done nothing in WWE but run his mouth.

2016 with Daniel Bryan briefly retiring and Roman getting an even bigger push I recall tons of people tuning out as well also the ratings began to plummet even further after Moxleys failed heel run in 2018-2019 his shield reunion and exit to Aew

I stopped watching in the early 2000s when they did all that Comedy and PG13 garbage. With Cena instead of Stone Cold you clearly knew they were targeting Kids and not grown men anymore.

I was a fan for 25 years. In June of 2004, shortly after I turned 30, I finally gave up and walked away and have never watched WWE since. It was not one single event that caused me to tune out for good. It was a series of things that did so. The Montreal Screw Job was where it started. Owen's death and the WWE's subsequent behavior in the aftermath of that tragedy was another. The positively abysmal Invasion storyline and how they could possibly manage to take an opportunity like that and bungle it that badly. Not to mention the mishandling of amazing talents like Diamond Dallas Page. And finally, there was the increasingly ridiculous/tasteless storylines and angles that were being presented along with an increasingly lackluster in ring product. By the time I turned 30, I didn't tune out of anger or frustration, I tuned out because after 25 years as a fan, I simply no longer cared. The WWE's combination of irresponsible behavior, backstabbing, incompetence and lackluster booking caused this lifelong fan to throw my hands in the air and give up for good.

I gave up for several years in 2006 when the whole Super Cena meme was real. I got so tired of him, I switched permanently to TNA, RoH, and others. I started peaking in on WWE again back in 2013, and...it's been mostly meh since.

The *"TV PG."* When cameras start to pan away before a ringside bell, steel chair and steps and commentators' tables connects with the wrestler, that was my cue to say bye bye.

I still dispute the idea that "PG" was responsible for all of WWE's problems. Smackdown was always PG - through every single one of its best moments. And worst ones. That never changed.

It was the Raw after Wrestlemania 35 where I gave up on wrestling. That Kofi vs. Rollins match ending in DQ and then the tag match to close the show just told me enough was enough. I gave up in 2007 because the WWE was getting too predictable to me and I came back in 2011 because of nostalgia, but went along for the ride. 2019, however, the booking was just a headshaker for me. And I just can't find the interest outside of WWE. Maybe it's more of me getting older and not being too intrigued by sports entertainment anymore.

Benoit family tragedy damn near stopped me out of fandom i couldn't believe what happened...my favorite wrestler ever did the unthinkable ... Then the PG change sucked but i was able to enjoy it but around 6 years into 3 hour RAWs i couldn't stand it so much...ill always watch especially with AEW i see a bright future...but 3 hours suck...but i could watch 5 hours of Monday Nitro and Raw during the wars bc it was AWESOME time...
